Most people do not realize that most of the things they see celebrities wearing or that they have are not theirs. They are borrowed. And a lot of celebrities seem like they have so much but what you don't see is how in debt they are to such things and how truly unhappy those celebrities are that seem like they got it all together. I believe God doesn't have a problem with us having nice things. He wants us to enjoy life, he wants us to enjoy the things we have. But God does tell us to not be materialistic, do not store treasures on earth but store treasures in heaven, and do not put any other God's before him. Does that mean we can't have jewelry, nice cars, or nice kicks, or nice things? No, He doesn't want our lives to be burdened or harder than it has to be. I believe in all things we need to ask ourselves and consider; is owning certain things or spending a ton of money on a certain things going to cause me to stumble or hinder my spirituality or walk with God!!
I totally FEEL you! I can’t do expensive jewelry because #1 I lose stuff easily. #2 even though some may see the “value,” it just doesn’t have the same value for me…I think of too many other things I rather do with the money, so buying jewelry is just not on the list. Side note: Looking forward to seeing those “streets of gold” where there is no oxidation!
I’ve always felt a certain way about Christians living in extravagance, in opulence. Especially when it’s a pastor. However, it’s ok to have nice things, as long as those things don’t have you. That chain is nice but also understated. It’s not opulent. Earrings too. Doesn’t look like you’re flaunting your wealth. Even though the price tag is waaaay out of my range. 🤣
I agree there is nothing wrong with having nice things, but when there is thousands of homeless on the streets, very poor communities in the black neighborhoods and you drop a bag on some worthless chain instead of dropping a bag on building better and more comfortable shelters for the poor, better streets in the black and forsaken neighborhoods, better schools in those nieghborhoods and much, much more, how Christian and of Christ is that? To be a rich Christian and look past the sufferings of the lowly? Luke 12:16-21 [16]And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: [17]And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? [18]And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. [19]And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. [20]But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? [21]So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. Luke 12:15 [15]And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. 1 John 3:17 [17]But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
Every dollar you spend on yourself could feed someone, save someone, and house someone. I say limit the amount of money you spend on yourself and not 100,000 or or even 10,000, like I don’t need a little necklace when someone just needs shoes and a bed… I’m not against treating yourself, I’m just not for indulging…
God bless you Elijah. We could find a jewelry piece just as nice for a tenth of either of the prices you just mentioned, and it would be just as good. Stay pure hearted brother. And always stand firm. God bless.

I’m glad you’d rather not wear a house on your neck. I think wearing jewelry is more than acceptable, as long as we are using the majority of our personal wealth for our families and beyond that the more traditional form of generosity.
Thank God it’s not a house but this I just a terrible purchase. Why are we spending money on these expensive items as a christain. See how he justified himself and did not let them bible make his decisions. The Bible has many verses on this issue
For me, I don’t wear jewelry because it was never for me but I splurge in completely different ways. I feel like we all can do better in what we do with our money but ultimately I won’t judge someone else’s spending habits without checking my own first. Like I shop at Aldi’s instead of Whole Foods but have no issue dropping way more money on clothes as compared to getting cheap/second hand stuff to save money. Seems like a lot of judgement towards his decisions in the comments but not much self-reflection of “what am I doing in my own life to be a good steward of what God has blessed me with?” I love the content and enjoy Lecrae being transparent and keeping it a buck with us!

Totally get your perspective on jewelry! I make all mine from metal loops, wire, chain, gemstones I find or buy, etc, and that's my thing, but I don't enjoy expensive necklaces and earrings because I told myself that's not where my worth comes from. I'll still wear my mom's gold heart earrings tho, those have history. :D
I go through this a lot with buying video games or movies. Do I really need to play video games? I used to buy games at 50% off, around $30 years ago. Now, I look at $30 games and I’m like… I can make use of that money to support a child in need of education, food, clothing and shelter through Compassion International for $38. I think it deals with the role of wealth in the Christian life. It's a big conversation through the focus of expensive jewelry. It's a big spiritual issue imo.
It's not a sin to spend money on something you like (provided there aren't other issues inherent with it, i.e. drugs, gambling, etc.). Here's the question every Christian should ask themselves: Am I giving God my firstfruits? Is He still #1? If yes, then get that Ice, bro.

I think that you took a good, solid route on that. Personally, any jewelry that I wear is just basic cheap stuff. Like I have a couple cross necklaces I bought almost 20 years ago and still wear as well as a couple Zox bracelets my girlfriend cuffed me with lol. I know those "houses" on one's neck can appreciate in value, but never nearly enough to justify it in my mind, especially when you think about A: Losing it B: Damaging it C: If it's big and flashy, you could lose it to some gun-toting sparkle chaser who's too lazy and selfish to get a job. The difference between you and me is that there is a chance that someday you could have some fans who could also be in some $ and be willing to fork it over for something blingy that you've worn at concerts or in videos, and THAT is one option where the jewelry could grow more reliably in value just based on your celebrity. This is just my take. I could always be wrong.
if you think of it as an investment, its not much different than money in your bank. Its a way to store your money in a tangible commodity, something with a very obvious value. If you are ever in a financial crisis later, you can always sell the jewelry or rubies or whatever you purchased. Same concept with investing in fine art.
This video says "does God care if you wear jewelry?" My major concern is how the video asks a (God) question but receives a (Lecrae) answer. Where is the scripture? Where is careful thoughtful consideration of Gods word? (1 Peter 3:3-4) is just one source, tho the cultural context puts this directed towards women. But common sense among Christians dictates that all scripture is God breathed (2 Tim 3:16-17) and worthy of careful consideration to guide our lives. I'm a fan of Lecrae's work, but I wonder who wrote his songs like "Boasting". The words are all about God why aren't Lecrae's thoughts and considerations all about God? Shouldn't he be using his voice apart from the singing and record labels for God as well? Shouldn't he be teaching a younger generation like me, to go to the scripture for our answers?
I thought of "Boasting" too and how also we're in a time where a lot of suffering is all around. This is disappointing to me....at end of the day he is human but ya...theres's so many artists suffering and just all kinds of stuff it's so hard for me to see this kind of stuff going on w/ people who do have a lot of money and resources that so many do not right now....Jesus rode on a donkey and never had jewelry... just gotta pray for him as always for any "servant leader" and always keep in mind we serve God not people
@@CabeensCoffeeCorner Yes but in Matthew 26:8-11 extra attention to verse 11 Jesus said, "[11]For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always." He allowed this gesture to stress the action he'd have to take. His imminent DEATH. It was a learning experience for the disciples. And it was the woman's recognition of his Lordship/ higher authority.
@@angelawerner9551 well since we both recognize this we need to be taking action and calling for other brothers and sisters to rise up and make the glory of our God known. As long as you take care of the poor as much as you spend on stuff God is fine with it. The love of money is only a sin if you have the spirit of greed and selfishness. The Bible never condones being rich but it does say if you care rich you have to help the poor. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 “Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.”
1 Timothy 6:9-12 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Yeah I agree I think it’s not that big of a deal. It really depends on what your motive is. It shouldn’t be an idol and not replace God. But if a person enjoys jewelry and they have some money I don’t see an issue with getting something. However I wouldn’t go over the top like $300000. Personally I think you can do so much more for God with that money. But yeah that’s my opinion.
No.. I know its material things. But if you work hard on what you do.. you can at least spoil yourself or bless yourself with at least something.. and always stay true to the cross
Matthew 6:19-21 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

C: If it's big and flashy, you could lose it to some gun-toting sparkle chaser who's too lazy and selfish to get a job.

Typo definitely intentional. You too crae.
I love the plot twist and the fact that you still haven’t fully justified it 😂
This video says "does God care if you wear jewelry?" My major concern is how the video asks a (God) question but receives a (Lecrae) answer.
This is disappointing to me....at end of the day he is human but ya...theres's so many artists suffering and just all kinds of stuff it's so hard for me to see this kind of stuff going on w/ people who do have a lot of money and resources that so many do not right now....Jesus rode on a donkey and never had jewelry... just gotta pray for him as always for any "servant leader" and always keep in mind we serve God not people
They don't care about Scripture or Jesus as much, they love their false teachers who promote money worship and being with this world.
@@angelawerner9551 Jesus didn't have jewelry but he.was okay with a bottle of expensive perfume being poured on him
@@CabeensCoffeeCorner Yes but in Matthew 26:8-11 extra attention to verse 11 Jesus said,
"[11]For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always."
He allowed this gesture to stress the action he'd have to take. His imminent DEATH. It was a learning experience for the disciples. And it was the woman's recognition of his Lordship/ higher authority.
@@angelawerner9551 well since we both recognize this we need to be taking action and calling for other brothers and sisters to rise up and make the glory of our God known. We must live our lives after God's will and never back down. Being silent only when God's will allows it. Amen sister! Minister the Gospel in truth and love, with respect!
I've personally never been into Jewry or designer even before I gave my life to Christ at 24 (I'm 49 now)
Have you had the feeling of owning 50 million grand? That's when they have these temptations and desires. And associate influences

Some wisdom here to spend MUCH less than he can afford. Assets over liabilities!
I think it's better to spend it on food for the poor

Bruh great outlook on how to see jewelry it's a investment 🏆💪🏾
Definitely love the conclusion. 😂
I like jewelry, but ain’t paying for nothing fake nor for something that cost as much as a house 😂
1 Timothy 6:9-12
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
Reach records yeah 😊
Yeah I agree I think it’s not that big of a deal. It really depends on what your motive is. It shouldn’t be an idol and not replace God. But if a person enjoys jewelry and they have some money I don’t see an issue with getting something. However I wouldn’t go over the top like $300000. Personally I think you can do so much more for God with that money. But yeah that’s my opinion.
Hey bro! Your title has got some autocorrect mistakes. Just thought I’d let you know 😁🙌🏽
No.. I know its material things. But if you work hard on what you do.. you can at least spoil yourself or bless yourself with at least something.. and always stay true to the cross
Matthew 6:19-21
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
That’s on me that’s on mammas 😂😂😂
