  • Just a quiet afternoon at Chepstow, or so we thought...
    That was until Give Em A Clump decided to do a couple of laps of the track after getting loose, and then careering dowen the straight near our intrepid presenter.
    What next can only be described as pretty remarkable. You've set the bar for on-course reporting, Hayley!

      One of the group, a lorry driver, said, "That's the better case, because the insurance will cover it. A smashed mirror on its own would go out of the driver's pocket."

    When I heard the guy saying she had to pay for that, I thought "so that's British humour".
    Then I scrolled down the comments, expecting to find comments with americans angry and not getting it and british people either sassing back even more or having to explain it was just irony.
    And I was not disappointed.

      That being said, if she hadn't been familiar with horses already, trying to get involved would have been risky. Horses are huge and heavy, getting in the way of one in a panic could have gotten her seriously injured if she didn't know what she was doing. There's a difference between giving a helping hand and making yourself a liability.
      I'm not saying to never get involved--people should absolutely help wherever and however they can, but there are times where it's best to not throw yourself into danger if youre inexperienced.

    • @lotusfae
      @lotusfae 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      This is like saying "finally a painter who does landscaping rather than just painting it." I mean, simply just reporting is their job. If it had been an average, untrained reporter, it would have been far more dangerous for everyone for them to get involved. This was a rare case where she was skilled enough and confident enough to help.
