I was born in 83. I remember 12 older kids along with my 2 older brothers packed into my parents garage in Florida taking turns playing this game. They'd never give my annoying little ass a turn. My Dad build 2 vert ramps in the back yard. Every kid within a 50 mile radius showed up to skate those ramps at some point. A kid even came back a decade after those ramps rotted to the ground to skate. Those times for the most seem to be gone. You just don't see kids getting together anymore. Back then you'd build a ramp out of anything and try n jump that shit on a Big Wheel.
'82 here...this was one of the titles I was able to rent from the video store in the strip mall...next to the Lil Caesars...this, Cali Games and Bases Loaded.
Sitting ur ignant' ass on that floor, Indian style with the bowl of tmnt cereal and the ninja turtle cup TRYING to not get knocked over in that damn joust!! #born in 82. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Someone should make a video on how to actually PLAY this game lol. Growing up in the 90’s, we didn’t have internet to look up control etc. you got the game, cart only, and had to figure it out.
i used to spend countless hours on this game..... nowadays im not sure how as theres only 15 mins gameplay in it haha! its still a pretty cool game tho. Ive never played howard...seen the movie tho, which was bizzare but cool lol
Anybody else up here besides me play this game with the “goofy foot” setting? I swear I was the only kid in my neighborhood that used it. I could never get the hang of the standard control.
Despite the PALCOM rebrand, this game was otherwise unchanged from the normal NTSC release (Ultra Games brand), because of the slower speed (hence not PAL-optimized).
To get the history possible scoring free style you have to do 2 things. Perform 1of each trick to gain the highest bonus.. then perform hand plants for the rest of your 10 tricks.hold each hand plant as long as possible (takes a little practice to get the timing right). I believe the bonus is 10000 plus total score for tricks. Hand plants held for a few seconds are the highest scoring individual tricks.
Something triggered me and i had to see this game play again. I had the Commodor 64 ver. It was played with a joystick and on the downhill race you could make sharp cuts/turns by holding the "jump" button during the turn. Not sure if it was possible on the NES but it made the run way more shreddable dude lol
Yo me too lol... now im lookin at paperboy excite bike and contra game play... remember every "code" for most nes games was always the same 🆙️🆙️down, down, left, right, left, right 🅰️,🅱️,🅰️ , select, START haha What was that game you kicked the hacky sack surfed and rollerbladed and did bmx tricks... California games or something? That surfing game was the one when you were a gorilla surfing huh?
This game brings back some good memories playing this game me and my cousin look how cheezy and poor the graphics are but i loved this game just like turtles gremlins paperboy id love to get an original nes not a retro is has to be an original im sure i will find one somewhere
I remember playing this game for hours as a kid just trying to figure out what the controls were. Never figured out how the half pipe or the high jump ones worked. It was bought used with no manual so I was screwed.
I read through all these comments to see if anyone had the same problem as me. Haha I never understood the half pipe or most of the game because I didn't have a manual
@@fourmoretears Yeah. It's probably a simple but obscure button combination, like select and the d-pad. I'm not gonna look it up. I enjoy having the childhood mystery stay mysterious.
I had this game on Commodore64, it was the year 1988 when I got it. I was 4 years old and I didn't know what to do really... It was a rubbish game honestly, very boring, but today I would love to play with it once again. It is a vintage cult for skateboard lovers like us.
its not a terrible game, ive always been a fan of it. But id think it would be less exciting on a c64. Id recommend checking out the NES version as id assume its more playable. For me the problem is that its just far too small a game to enjoy for long periods of time today. It was better in the 90s with groups of friends.
Electronic Arts made the game for computers. However, they didn't have the manpower nor the contract to publish for the NES, so they signed a contract with Konami to port the game to the NES. Ultra Games and Palcom software are publishing companies 100% owned by Konami (and even in the same building as Konami). The existence of these 2 companies are only to bypass Nintendo's rule of only 5 published games a year per publishing company (Rareware made many games, but had many publishers)
I haven’t scene or heard this game in 35 years. So many memories unlocked, mostly memories of fun and frustration.
Lol skate or die was pretty frustrating wasn’t it? The ramp stages were pretty lame but the downhill one was cool

Do you have any idea how many crowded skate parks there are all over now? Well, a lot...
Those were the days!!
Those were the golden years of skateboarding 85-95

Damn what a legendary game. I miss the old times so much.
Watching you get destroyed on the freestyle made me laugh and brought back memories of 1989.
The nostalgia is overwhelming ❤❤❤❤
Brings tears to my eyes
A flood of memories are rushing back… I rented this game all the time at my local video store.
Kids today don't realize how hard game where in the 80's
Especiallly when you’ll had two buttons and a d pad to work with.
Especially when you couldn’t on TH-cam to see the cheats or strategies…
lmfao and we forgot how hard they were years later when going back to them XD
Est 1983 - brings back some great memories
You done brought me back to my childhood man .. thanks
summer of 1989
swinging into the 90s
Jousting was so fun. The pool music and laugh is instilled in my head. Last opponent was infuriating
Thank u for posting this! This was me and my cousin’s favorite game! It looked so much cooler back then 🤣 This and Howard the Duck lol

I have scores from 30yrs ago that are still awesome today.
Bruh... I had this game...loved this game...💯
I remember how I once thought these graphics were highly detailed.
I loved this game and Roller Games. Two of my most favorite na skating games followed by skitchin on sega
Omg best game ever I was so overwhelmed by this game seriously

The man: I'm a bad boy!
I never knew about this until yesterday when me and my dad were talking about skate board games
its short and simple, but such an awesome game
I so remember this frustrating game. I'm having flashbacks and pulling my hair out right now and I'm not even playing it. Rage quit City... 🤬
Anybody else up here besides me play this game with the “goofy foot” setting? I swear I was the only kid in my neighborhood that used it. I could never get the hang of the standard control.
This game was so hard as a kid. Probably still is
The original tony hawk
Hey that's a crappy thing to say but no I don't think so we tried
0:09 Mommy, I don’t want to play anymore
What in the Goddamn Christmas Pudding is this?
I'm a bad boy!
I became a pro skater with what this game taught me
i can only asume that your the greatest in the world!
You might be on a poster some day
I never could get around that dang fence on Jam!
One of my favorite games. Thanks for this. I was born in 81
Never played this game but definitely looks like it was a fun time
Wow... so many fun memories
0:09: the shop owner looks an awful lot like the lead singer from Rammstein.
I'd rather be rick rolled a million times than sit through this. You made an awesome fun game look unappealing.
Despite the PALCOM rebrand, this game was otherwise unchanged from the normal NTSC release (Ultra Games brand), because of the slower speed (hence not PAL-optimized).
Anyone remember California games?
you had to press Down+A to duck, in this way character turning faster

I remember hitting select button and using the half pipe ramp

this was such a cool game wonder if tony hawk played it back in the day?
Turbo controller made this game amazing.

2021. Still trying to figure out the half pipe
You have to hit left then right back and forth quickly.
I wonder how many pro skaters today thank this game for getting them into the sport

Looks like real life.
I love when the skate shop owner says Poser
Holy Hell, the amount of hours I spent absolutely sucking at this game.
Didn’t see one hand plant.
I loved and hated this game. I never could do anything in the high jump, other than going down and on occasion register like a foot
Sick

Even today i would destroy this guy.
