  • On this episode of the Africans In Sports MY STORY we are featuring Nigerian swimmer, Philip Adejumo. Adejumo is breaking down barriers for young black Africans. From a young age, he was always reminded of the stereotype that black kids can't swim. Now an elite swimmer for Nigeria, he waves his flag to the world as a symbol that black people can in-fact swim.

I always thought that we didn't swim competitively because there were no trucks suitable for the anatomy.

What did Nigerians in his community think about his commitment to swimming? It seemed that his sister was a big shoulder to lean on.
