This always one of my Dad's Favorite hits from then he was in the War.... been playing like you since High school in the 70's. Getting my instrument back out after hiatus... its a Paris made Late 50's alto. Picked up a nice tenor couple months ago... Keep them coming... I love your sound Johnny.
With your excellent playing skill, you are keeping the memory of Glenn Miller alive. I am sure Glenn would wholeheartedly approve of your style & talent..
Wow, what a performer just love it, Great job, I just love " in the mood, " although this tune was well before my time, the tune is a timeless classic and will always be Forever.
C'est tout simplement.... Ce que j'ai entendu de plus beau avec ce morceau ! Bravo...... This is simply .... What I heard more beautiful with this piece! Congratulations ......
A powerful tune, Johnny, and one of my favourites. I'm 63 and grew up around World War II veterans. This is the stuff they listened to. To me, this tune and WW II are inseparable. Thanks for putting it up. You do a great job playing it and I could visualize Tex Beneke playing it on his tenor as you were playing it. I'm going to download the track and the sheet music and learn to play it.
Thanks Johnny for taking us back to an earlier time of our parents generation when big bands ruled and sax was king. You did a great job. Now more fun/challenge for your students to attempt to follow our Sherpa.
Some will tell you that you won't be able to truly perform a piece of music until you have it memorized... I agree. When you can play it without reading the notes, that's when you can really play it!
There's a lot around these days, both good and bad. Stay away from anything made in China! I'm partial to Yamaha and Selmer, you can trust these to be well made...even the student models play well. I wrote an article or 2 about some of these on my site under saxophone articles which you can link to from home page.

You’re performances are truly inspirational man, I can’t wait till I finally have that raspy tone perfected like you

I love listening to you play your sax....I grew up in the '60's...learned to play this tune on the piano, >>by ear

Hi Again, I'm sorry, I forgot to Comment on this 5 months ago. Great Song done Great, by The Great One - Johnny Ferreira !!!
Ya, you gotta include this in the list of American classics. As for playing it, a good exercise for chord arpeggios!

Thnx..!! Salamat..!!
Thank you very much! I', playing my Mark 6 Selmer with a Dave Guardala MB mouthpiece.
Yes, Dave Guardala doesn't make them anymore but there is a company making them now. I think Guardala's are only available for tenor.
Check out Vince Carbone - the tenor player in the GM AAF band - he had a very gutsy style, akin to yours.
eres un grande
OMG YOU ARE GODD
Excellent playing Johnny, I am considering picking up a tenor (I currently play alto), what brand/model would you reccommend?
Go Johnny, Go!!!

Hey Mr. Ferreira, how long have you been playing saxophone?
Nice!
I agree, that's why I added the Andrew sisters clip of them wearing the army duds.
Playing with different bands, I've played every sax part except baritone. Got practice on almost every arpeggio.

You've probably searched for this music and it took quite long to find it because you only know the tune and not the title.
