My dad taught me how to do a proper jitterbug to In The Mood when I was only 10 years old. I have been a Glenn Miller fan ever since, even though Daddy has passed on. Keep on swinging!
Now that's what I call awesome! Somehow, for some reason, nobody plays it as good as the U.S. Army Band, and I've listen to each branch's version of In The Mood, but only the Army played it as good as Glen Miller's Band did, so far.
Glenn Miller was arguably one of my dad's favorites, he was born in 1933. When I was a kid we listened to In the Mood, Little Brown Jug, Pennsylvania 6-5000 so many others on a radio station that played Big Band Music and my dad was so fond of. My dad was in the Army and was in Korea right after the war had ended. He passed away 21 years ago and my mom is close to the end of her life. Hearing this brought a lot of different emotions to me, maybe I needed to hear this to help me. Knowing that soon my mom and dad will be together again and probably listening to Glenn Miller Orchestra. Beautiful job on the song.
Hey buddy! I picked up 2nd prints/editions of collectors edition vinyls 1 and 2 of Glenn miller 40 bucks! The old Glenn can be had for cheap and nothin beats it coming out a victrola on a cold summer morning with a cup of Joe in hands and birds chirping!
like this sound. played sax in a school Bigband about 35 years ago. so does my daugter now. "infected" her with saxsound. this music will never fade out. hold on playing
I swear that after an intense day at work, a show from army field band is the only thing that can get my mind relaxed ❤ Glenn Miller must be dancing in heaven hearing this!
To all of the U.S. ARMY SOLDIERS THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICES YOU MAKE TO KEEP US FREE. THANKS ALSO FOR THE GREAT MUSIC!! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for reading my message. i didn't expected . i am a japanese and i don't know when i can visit your place next time but i really hope your happiness. Thank you again for your beautiful music.
When music was listen by everyone. When I was a kid I went to dinner with parents and juke box was playing this song and I watch them dance good memories
So wonderfully good, Awesome, in fact. Growing up in my family long ago, Mom & Dad (both R.I.P.), would put on this record and swing-dance in the living room This brings back happy memories. Thanks for this, Jazz Ambassadors.
😃this song is from the real golden era of radio, records and instrumental music. the armed forces got the good sound.. respect. sounds real authentic. like a mastered recording even.. nice work.
_There you guys go again! Toe tapping, arm 🎺 swinging, head bobbing, 🥁 pure Magic! What’s crazy is that I’ve heard this song in movie scenes over my 60+ years, but can’t think of one now. No matter, it was a Great arrangement as Usual_
Yes, a real joke. The army has forgotten the value of tradition. Still bothers me to see a soldier in fatigues out shopping around like it's a leisure suit! I was a member of this band once upon a time.
@@jerryhanks4963 honestly I'm comfortable with it. I'd rather see a soldier, sailor, Marine or airmen out living their lives as an American - it's a job, a duty, and they do it well, but they're still people at their core. Our volunteer military don't exist as some rigid body to police to people. Placing them on a pedestal is silly to me; if someone is off-duty and had to hurry and get food for dinner and didn't have time to change to their civvies, oh well. We all experience that. They're people too. It's the day that we see those soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen patrolling our nation in full kit and rifles while we're shopping and living our lives that I'll be bothered. Of course, at that point, being bothered will likely get me shot.

Got to say their playing the song really military like….. perfectly in tempo the hole time, with no give and take…… That being said this of one of my favorite recordings->props to them.
@@ArmyFieldBand I love it from the bottom of my heart. You could not imagine what it ment to a little girl growing up between adults with this disturbed lifes by WW 1 and 2, to hear swing, blues and Jazz. It was the bright site of live. It heals the depressed mood in a home.
Absolutely love this version of a great Glenn Miller hit, BUT, as a British Army Veteran I think that the British Army bands could do it better 😉😉😂 Only joking 😂. This was an outstanding version. Thank you for sharing & thank you all for your service 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Ever see a performance you gotta immediately share with your friends? This is one of those
Glad to hear it, and thanks for the share!
@@ArmyFieldBand hello I wanna join the army band when I’m older .
No because no one like glen miller my age 🥺
Yes indeed…
@@ShadowGaming26548 I have hope in you, you'll make it eventually.

A song that represents the United States, which everyone likes. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸I want to dance💃🕺🏼💃🕺🏼
That walking bass line sounded absolutely smooth 👌
In the 1941 movie, Sun Valley Serenade, bassist Trigger Alpert, had a bass solo, on this number.
Glenn Miller would approve, I'm sure of it! What a great version. Very authentic, especially the dynamics. And thank you all for your service!
Yes the dynamics are awesome

This golden piece stirs my memory of my parents enjoying big band music, then dancing in the living room. "Best music this side of heaven".
Wow ! As a `retired` E-flat Alto Sax man, I can appreciate the vibrato and tempo!! Great sound !!
Damn.....F""ing Great. Every player here nails it. 1941 when my parents met. America at its best.
I grew up listening to this kind of music on the radio as a small child and it stuck with me.
OMG! MY FAVORITE SONG!

The United States Army establishes unsurpassed dominance in all military venues and says... "Ok, let's master Jazz now."
My Dad lived next to West Point and would go to every concert there that was free!
