My mods are coming this week. Looking forward to the install. Can you further explain the difference with using the "more aggressive" pin slots in the pulley? Thanks.
I know that the open look, looks cool, but the stock belt cover wouldn't look bad if a small plate was placed over the unsightly"4-Stroke" legend. The kickstarter hole could be plugged if the kick started is deleted. The stock cover can keep the transmission area of the case from twisting. A 12-volt computer fan can cool the belt, if need be. There is hell to pay if the variator hardware is not tight, as even the aluminum variator it can strip the spline on crank, and not in a good way. Good video. Thank you.
I like that stand for CVT assembly its great to have it for maintenance purposes, did you fabricated it by yourself, well that stand is fantastic, thanks a lot for the video its helpful especially when your going for cleaning and greasing of your CVT assembly its a fundamental guide for CVT assembly, just like me i have Yamaha Mio soul125cc and Aerox155cc all considered scooter here in the Philippines, thanks for the video and God Bless.
Nice video...however, the blue witness mark no longer means anything as you added a longer spring. You should just torque that nuts to specifications. Very informative video.
Perhaps a tuning fork with 2 little 608zz bearings pressed on the ends to run along the edge of the variator. The bottom end of the tuning fork then connected to a servor motor linked to a switch on your handle bars could work? A little measuring beforehand should let you know how much of the fork to cut and the mechanism could possibly be housed within the cooling duct of the cvt cover. Some extra cooling holes right in front of the variator housing will compensate for the loss in air flow. I dunno, we might be onto something...
rolling wrench what i have seen are very good at fixing motorbikes,,, as a matter of fact i am looking to get a gy6 engine from them for my motorbike and i live in nebraska.
Ordered my cat kit and installed, took awhile cause I didn't have variator tool. So please include in package for $11 more bucks. Thankx now to see how it works. Bout 6hrs
Great video matt I'm in the market for a cvt complete clutch kit for my icebear Hawkeye 150cc scooter it's all stock what would be a good cvt complete kit for it ...?
So, a 2000 rpm Contra Spring, in a sense, will not let the pulley expand from it's starting point or take off ratio to let the belt drop until 2000 rpm & likewise, the 2000 rpm clutch shoe springs will not let the shoes contact the bell until 2000 rpm ? So you "could" have a 2000 rpm Contra Spring with 1500 rpm Clutch Springs if you wanted ?
Hi, it was very helpful thanks for this video. Can i ask you something? is the new front pulley (black inside) bigger than stock? and also do you have link for that? i want to buy this product. thanks again..
Matt, what do you think about venting the gas cap? I am wondering if I should drill a little hole because I'm having start up issues on a cold engine on a warm day. When I take off the gas completely when tuning my carb I get a raise in RPM's, when putting it back on RPM's drop.
What clutch spring set up (by color) & roller weight do you recommend for a 47mm big bore/a9 cam/uni filter/85 main jet 35 pilot jet on a qmb139. My weight is 160 and i live in area where roads have decent incline, and overall just looking for the best take off and low end power. Thanks in advance! I'm guessing that you can build me the kit that I want,... If I wanted take off power & mid range power for 2 riders totaling about 300 pounds without being interested in going over 60 mph then you can sell me such a kit ? Thanks
I might be wrong but shouldn't you put grease on the channels where the pins go before closing it? since the 2 rubber o-rings are there to prevent it from getting unto the belt

I have a bms sand sniper 150 go kart. It has a leak in the bearing area by the clutch. Are the bearings and seals pretty common across all these platforms?

Anyone have any idea if that is GY6. It looks just like the scooter one at the very beginning. No cranks sticking out of middle, No bolts to take transmission plate off.
Can u tell me what weights should I use on my 150cc 157QMJ . Fully stock motor with a racing cdi and a open exhaust and im currently using 13g on my variator. Im making pull up to 64mph . And I weight 215 220. But takes forever to get there
I need a help with this . I have Linhai 260 long horn.i want to increase torque and speed can you help me to choose the right Cvt installation kit . Thank you
Hey what do you do to eliminate that black rubber tube [comes from the factory air filter box] that is on the right side of the engine at 6:25 .. Do you just cut it and cap it off or do something else with it?
Hi man. Just a question out of the blue. Do you know what that thing is called that, its like a bolt extension on the rear shock on scooters that you can attached the single arm paddock stand?
I added a ncy complete cvt kit with Kevlar belt when I go to put the cover back on and run the scooter the belt rubs against the top on the cover any reasons why for now I run the scooter without a cover
I got a 150cc scooter with rpm spring (i don't know in english, your's yellow) about 1800rpm and which weight roller do I use? Mine using 9gr and it was sound so terrible
I installed 10g dr.pulley on a 115cc yamaha, 1k rpm clutch springs, performance torque driver (straight cut), everything else is stock. Im 120 lbs btw. Is that ok for a better top end? Btw, very good videos! Planning to buy that Y tool for the variator. Keep it up!

Question: my son has a Kymco 50 2 stroke atv and races flat track. I have managed to get a lot of speed out of it with high rev CDI, leaner jetting, and different roller weights and a non restricted boss. NOW all the other 2 stroke ATV’s hot super high Rpms before the clutch engages, if I get a stiffer contra spring and stiffer clutch springs, will this do the same for our atv and will I sacrifice top end?
I have a question I have a TaoTao 50cc I replaced the front variator last week and I didn't have to remove the rear clutch. Now I plan to replace the rear clutch Do I have to remove the front variator or can I leave it on while I replace the rear clutch? I'm lazy I know lol But nah I have a friend at Walmart just trying to get it done fast as possible so not to get in there way. And do you know if it comes put together already? (rear clutch)
hey folks, i think all ATVs and all mopeds should all the using BELT DRIVE instead of friggin chains that get screwed up easily from all weather conditions!!
Belts are cheapee to replace bur often need replacement more frequently but they are quieter and require 0 lubrication and the closed transmission does definitely protect it from dirt
Someone please help. I am a mechanic by heart. I can fix nearly anything and have repaired many cars, atvs , trucks over the years. My issue is I have 150cc taotao gy6 with a CVT. I just bought a new replacement CVT since the old one was giving me the same issue. New variator, new belt, new clutch. The issue I have is it will not go past 20mph. Also I noticed as riding the variator and clutch are not engaging correctly. The variator should raise the belt and the clutch should lower the belt right. Well while riding I left the cover off to watch and its not engaging. So I put the 4 wheeler on bricks to test it and revved the motor its engaging correctly. When the 4 wheeler has weight on it its not engaging but when the weight is off it is. This is a new CVT and the old one was doing the same thing. Anyone have a idea whats going on. Only thing I haven't checked is the gearbox
@@benson4u215 the carb got dirty so I took it apart and cleaned it. Got tired of replacing the filter while testing so I left it off. In all your videos you make this look so easy... Gives me the confidence to install a 180 Gy6 in my ruckus. Keep up the good work.
OK, I did every step in this video and it worked. Although, I am not sure why smashing my cell phone with a mallet makes the CVT work.
Mentioning where to get the parts is critical. Great show just need the where to get the parts.

It would be kind of cool to have a mechanism that would allow a manual control of the variators so the operator could control the range.
