I didn't think they would have such a great release after Hannes and Christian left. forgive my insolence Obscura. I'll never question your supremacy again

+Anthony Mora It's still a great release because Steffen was always the main songwriter of the band

+Michael Pierce Hannes and Steffen were both main songwriters, with Christian and Jeroen contributing some parts here and there

No offense but Hannes Grossmann's The Crypts Of Sleep surpasses Akroasis.

+Bob Lamper Welp I already slaughtered you a little so I'm not gonna try arguing with you anymore because that's too much negative energy expulsed :P
But do you mean the hype of Alkaloid has to do with the members? I mean I get why you feel that way but that's not why I hype them. Its that the members have given me reason to justify their membership as having significance. Hannes has just proven to me with everything he's written across all his projects that he is my favorite death metal songwriter (Probably the biggest highlights being Infinite Rotation, Centric Flow, Celestial Spheres, Aeon Illuminate, Solar Fire Cells (which features Fountainhead. Might wanna check that), The Radial Covenant, Carbon Phrases and Funeral for a Continent). Its not so much that he, Chris and Florian are members, so much as they have proven in the past (The Noneuclid albums and Chris's Obscura contributions also) and FOR ME continued to prove that they are behemoths of songwriting talent.
Although I think Tom & Linus approach that as well. All 4 of the songs they co-composed on Akroasis are nothing short of amazing, and I like most of Steffen's ideas too. Just dont like em AS much as Alkaloid. It's a taste thing.
Also I feel many people might agree with me and haven't had the chance to even TRY Alkaloid because they're casual fans of Obscura who don't know everything that went on.... and Obscura is already a well established brand that, while they managed to maintain the Obscura sound with an almost completely different writing team combination, could have potentially gone in the Radial Covenant and a few select Malkuth Grimoire tracks direction if Steffen didn't have ego issues. And Alkaloid have to build their brand from scratch and not everone knows Hannes & to a lesser extent Chris wrote most of Omnivium/Cosmo & now the Alkaloid music. So I bring them up more to give people the opportunity to try them out. You tried them & think it's overrated & prefer this. That's totally cool. I'm glad also that you realize Fountainheads HUGE importance in the creative process in this album. I feel that may still be lost on some people as well.

Zyborggian I checked out the Malkuth Grimoire. Plenty there to get my teeth into - it's the sort of genre-traversing extreme metal that I can't get enough of. Cheers!
      Oh, and super-illegal of course.

Yes, the Parallax albums blew my mind when I first heard them. Really into Moonsorrow and Spawn of Possession at the moment - check out 'Hävitetty' and 'Incurso' if you haven't already!

The bass work reminds me of Dominic's but a bit slower and less arpeggiated. That deep melodic overtone that it brings is equally as brilliant nonetheless.

Obscura is very dark and very exciting. I like the concept. A bit too aggressive, so I listen to it only occasionally. The musicianship is literally godlike, yet they seem like humble people. Also Im pleasantly surprised by this lead guitarist, hes very expressive and melodic. I didnt expect someone like this after Muenzner left. Really good release.

Normal drive at the main riff and the melody guitar is a slide riff + whammy bar.
