Call me old school. but I loved my XR400! I would go though that XR400 and make it new again.
No lie, I wouldn't have no problem staying with the xr400. Reliable engine as well.

Congratulations Andy Andy I used to race a xr400r back when I was really fast back around 1999 And now at 46 I absolutely love my 22450rx. I still ride alittle bit aggressive at times and even race a couple times a year However if you ride that bike slow you are going to want a fan on it because they run really hot. Also to help with the flaming out I run the at about 2050-2070 The manual calls for 2000 but it helps and also I run a good oxygenated octane booster that bumps the 0ctatne to about 97 it seems to to help as these bikes are 13:5 compression and is on the ragged edge of 93 octane and I wouldn’t even try 91 Hope you like it as much as I do mine
I still feel more comfortable on my XR400s. Buying two more this week and i bought a mint 650R hooked up everything. I just feel way better climbing and laying my bike down vs radiators and fans and all that 14k crap honestly. Plus the 400 power delivery is perfect. Never been in love with a better second gear!

If he is a stand up rider he will love it , if he is a sit down rider and with all the street ridding habits he may be a sit down guy he may prefer the old xr 400.

I'd much rather the xr to be honest. More comfortable, and goes further on a tank. I don't race so I don't need 450 power. Id have the 450rx as well as the xr400 if I could afford it though.

@@DirtBikeChannel I’ve been watching all ur vids bout tires gear tips bikes for 2 years now. I still have my first and only bike got it in 2020. It’s a 1998 xr400r I love this bike im 6ft 200lbs. It does everything I want it to do could be lighter but I could just get stronger 🤙🏽🤙🏽😂

You can have that CRF, it will never be the reliable machine that XR is! To some of us XR guys, the CRF is a down grade!
Your not gonna like that rx coming from the xr400. The rx is a blah mx bike unfortunately, not the tractor like the xr4.
