Thanks for the video, really made me go down memory lane,I can totally relate to this video as my dad came to this country in 1965 and we had to face racism, my Dad had same fashion sense and hair style, aww really wonderful to see all that.Thank you
This is a great documentary. Its look like late 70s or early 80s clips. Racism was, is and will be. I have visited England few times!!! loved it. Im planning to go again.
Thanks for sharing I remember those days as if it was yesterday.. Found it very informative and pleasantly surprised that there were a lot of understanding from the white community.
It is much appreciated that you have posted such an educational and historical documentary of the then British Bangladeshi community. I will be very happy if you also posted a more contemporary situation of the British Bangladeshi community.
I am the 9th person who pushed the like button to your documentary. I have seen so many on this subject but yours one is the best of the best. I am sure that it's going to be a valuable piece of Bangladeshi migration history. One notation that Bangladeshi did not start migrating in mid 50's rather long before like my father moved in 30's. Thank you very much.
Many Bangladeshis were involved in British shipping industries (east India companies) and traveled throughout the world prior to 1950’s. My grandfather was one of them too. But most people started migration after British left India (1946)
@@ontheroad6137 I am sorry I did mean that Bangladeshis were start permanently living as for my family concern before 50's decade. You must be aware of that not only some Seamans were travelling to and from India before 1946 but there were hundreds of Bangladeshi particularly Sylheti migrated and settled in the main land U.K. Among those people used to work in the ship they were under English Article and those coming and going from India is called Indian Article. Thank you very much.
I have never been to England. Nonetheless, I could relate. I laughed my a^s out when the white neighbour lady was complaining about the Sylheti family was cooking smelly dry fish.
@bazlur-Vancouver You don't understand English mate. The specific thing she was talking about relates to Jewish people. He was bringing in smelly fish and Bengalis when she wasn't even talking about it. You silly sausage
To the Admin of this channel: There is no such thing called British Bangladesh. India was divided into two during Independence in 1947 1) India and 2) East Pakistan and West Pakistan. East Pakistan and West Pakistan was considered as one. However, in 1971 East Pakistan got Independence from West Pakistan and was renamed as Bangladesh. West Pakistan was renamed as Pakistan.
Please stop with your rubbish comments. I was born in 1972 in the UK and I am an British Bangladeshi. You could have commented upon the people in this video and community being of Sylheti origin, which would have been a valid point and then linking it to the lascars who arrived in the docks from the 17th Century onwards until 1940s from Bengal

Do you not understand English or something? She was talking about Jewish people cooking a certain smelly type of fish on Thursdays
@@Geeza80s also talked about Bengali too. You don't understand English well and blame the other guy.

It’s all about Bengalis moving to uk from Bangladesh then known as east Pakistan
@@ontheroad6137 If that is the case, you need to edit the caption.
@@mahalotarot what’s wrong with my caption. This is about British Bangladeshis.
In my opinion they should all be just called Indians. I don’t see any difference.
