Hi Jason, I am staying in the UK now. And Sylhet is my hometown. This is one of the religious and peaceful cities of Bangladesh. Thanks for visiting. Shahjalal was from Yemen. I miss my city badly. I'm living in Milan, Italy which is one of the best living place in the world still I miss my beautiful Sylhet city. I miss Rickshaws, roadside food, byke ride in my town, walking here and there, roaming around in every corner of my city. I wish I could go back there.
Thank you Jason for visiting my birth town of Sylhet, naturally one of the most beautiful city in Bangladesh. You’ll find mountain, tea estate, flat waterways, greenery, waterfalls, lakes, multicultural elements with many architectural remains. It is also called the holy city for great Sufi saint Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and his 360 disciples conquest of Sylhet from a tyrant ruler. Various complexes and religious places have been named after him, including the largest airport in Bangladesh, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and numerous mosques around the United Kingdom. Gives me such a nostalgic feeling. It feels like a brother from another mother visited Sylhet for its UK connection. Being a Bangladeshi born Brit, whose father migrated to London in the early 1960s and myself living here for the last 40 years, it is so encouraging to see a lot of foreigners like you are opting to visit this hidden gem of a country. Yes Sylhet is called London of Bangladesh, due to about 85-90% of Bangladeshi living in the UK are from Sylhet Division region. Masses of them migrated from as early as the 1940s straight after the World War II that carried until the late 1980s. It that respect I hope you find your visit as homely as possible. You have such a humility and respect in your presentation, which really humbles the audience. Enjoy your stay. Keep posting those majestic videos of yours.
Man you are very brave to be going there as a foreigner all on your own 😅😅 -- I say this mainly because of the attention a foreigner would attract, not on safety which is as fair for everyone. Excellent video. Thank you so much.
