I know this is for humor. But a little backstory on the real answer why Ringo didn't sing a lot. He never was comfortable with having the spotlight on him so he only sang when he was comfortable. The group actually wanted Ringo to sing more. So that's a little story.
I could understand why Ringo didn't want to sing at first. He was afraid that his breathing problem would get in the way. But you know Paul and John. They saw potential in Ringo and didn't want that potential to be wasted. But John and Paul, they were always encouraging and were one of the best songwriting team ups in history.
He always had a song to sing on the albums and shows, he was even singing in his pre-Beatles band Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. They had a slot in their set called 'Starr Time' in which Ringo would sing a song or two, we know one of the songs he would sing was 'Matchbox'
Whilst all four will forever be known for their music careers, will always separate Ringo as being the narrator for Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends due to my childhood ;)
Ringo hit the lottery when the group let him into the band in 1962. The group wanted someone who was easy going, and competent on the drums. A killer drummer like Bonham or Moon would have been too much, and not a fit for the group.
Until ringo started writing Paul and/or john would write a song for him on every album so yes he sang quite good songs - with a little help from his friends!
Joe Johnson I mean, he didnt want to sing at the beginning but Paul pressured him into doing it but not in the case of this song. So the fact he wrote it doesnt have anything to do with first comment.
He sung several songs through the albums. Boys, I Wanna Be Your Man, Goodnight, W/A Little Help From My Friends, Yellow Submarine, Don't Pass Me By, Octopus' Garden... Yet he only wrote two of them.
To dispell any negative comments. The Beatles, all four of them, were truly fantastic songwriters. regardless how many sings Lennon-McCartney wrote, George Harrison and yes Ringo Starr wrote good ones as well. and Starr was a fantastic drummer!
"With a little help from his friends." They worried about him, since he'd get so little from the few songs he had with the Beatles. All of them helped him with his first albums. He than literally outsold the other's solo platters. Though make no mistake: He's not a good singer, he does not have the greatest stage presence, he's not an overly capable drummer, and he did not like to practice a lot. But he has one thing: Musicality. He listens to a song and knows instantly how the drums should sound correctly. He just knows it. And what came out of this tremendous feel for music was exactly what the Beatles needed. It do not think he ever was everyones joke. He was the funny Beatle but not a joke. And the problems he had were mostly in conjunction with his alcohol problem.
and let's not forget that he and george at least were able to own the publishing of their own songs (post-1967) that they wrote and ringo only wrote 2 songs in 1968 and 1969 in "don't pass me by" and "octopus' garden". imagine how much those songs are worth in terms of royalties. john and paul lost most of their publishing which is owned nowadays by sony and michael jackson's estate.
I think they simply knew about this rumor, and thought to joke about it as much as they could in their album art. The Abbey Road line-up is a funeral. John is the clergy, Ringo is the Pallbearer, Paul is the corpse, and George is the gravedigger.
And they joke about on the Yesterday and Today album, the second cover art is Paul crouching in a box resembling a casket. And all of the Beatles on the abbey road cover resembling the roles of a funeral, example is that George is the person who digs the grave, and Paul is shoeless, resembling the dead person. And people think he is dead because of the cig in his right hand, and he normally smokes with his left.
I don't get why Ringo gets so much hate I actually like his voice it's unique 😂 plus him and Paul are the last two living Beatles. Octopuses Garden is a good song.
@Who Asked yes he did, It don't Come Easy ,back off boogaloo ,devil woman , oh my my, early 1970 ,oo-we, all by myself, photograph, step lightly, in my car , weight of the world, la de da , never without you and more

I consider Abbey Road to be the saddest Beatles CD ever. Whether or not the band knew it would be their last, and despite the long and winding road to their break up, it was as if they really didn't want it to end. Where will you get another band like the Beatles? Maybe in the next century? Who knows. Let's honor these rock legends while they're still around, and not when they've passed on.
Oh they knew. John and Paul recorded The long and Winding Road recorded their parts seperately in the studio. The song was inspired by the growing tensions among the band members.
GoldenTanookiMario5471 Oh, yeah, that one :). Someone wanted to name the album Everest after the brand of cigarettes, and it was suggested that the band fly to Nepal to have their picture taken against Mt Everest itself! Quite a stretch, I must say! And on Beatle - no one recalls whom - said, 'Look, I can't be bothered to schlepp all the way to Mount Everest, so why don't we go outside, take the picture, call in Abbey Road, and get it over with? The rest is history, Six shots were taken, and Paul examined each picture with a mag-glass before making the final pick. The rest we know. :).
AllisterCooper2008 Amazing, an interesting story, atleast theres some found music from The Everest Album, from what I've heard there was unreleased music.
+DakotaLife GamInG Agree but if George was giving a better chance, he would be on par with Lennon and Mc Cartney. George sings nice and wrote great songs with the Beatles, even if they weren't many. After the break up George Harrison came out with great songs, like My sweet lord and When we was fab, like for example.
Am I the only one who actually would want this in a Beatles album? EDIT: Yes I am completely aware that Octopus's Garden is this with different lyrics. I know.
John is known the most because he's the main beatle Paul is known as the cute one and the popular one (and the "dead" one) Ringo is known because he was the least comfortable singer and the butt of all the jokes But GEORGE! George is the truly underrated beatle...
that is true. george wanted more songs on the album but john and paul were jealous over the fact that he wrote better songs than they did which is why didn't want to put them on the album. that was a cause of the beatles break-up.
I like Octopus’s Garden (my dad always used to play Abbey Road in the car), but I must admit this is hilarious. To me it comes off less as making fun of Ringo and more of John and Paul’s dismissive attitudes. It’s not very accurate, though.
Well with the Beatles it was really "you write it, you sing it." Ringo didn't write a lot so that's why he didn't sing a lot. As well as the song had to be written for his range. I'll admit though that this video is really amusing.
Except for A Hard Day's Night. Paul and John wrote everything on that album, so the ones George sung weren't written by him. But other than that, it was basically you write it, you sing it. Except for With a Little Help From My Friends. John and Paul wrote that one too....
thehobbit1116 The 'you write it you sing it rule' did apply to the Beatles but it was only a general rule. Very occasionally a Beatle would sing the other's song.
Ringo wrote Octopus's Garden - which this song is to the tune of - as well as Don't Pass Me By. He was credited as a co-writer on What Goes On. Every Beatles album had at least one track sung by Ringo, like Yellow Submarine, With A Little Help With My Friends, etc. The fans asked for more Ringo songs but he has stated he was perfectly happy with his one song a record. Due to his strictly Baritone range he only sang backup vocals for a handful of songs! However the songs that he did sing lead vocals in were written especially for him, keeping his range in mind. I enjoyed this song, the guy sounds enough like him for it to work and I think the video is funny.
Yes and no. The album was released about a month after the band broke up, but the actual songs were recorded before Abbey Road was. This has caused many fans to consider Abbey Road the last album, instead of Let it Be. And of course, Octopus's Garden is on Abbey Road, so he wouldn't have left at that point.
+Aurora Angelica Mine too because he's been the narrator for the first 2 seasons of Thomas & Friends, made a guest appearance on The Simpsons and american voice actor Jess Harnell based the voice of Wakko Warner on him.
Important to mention that the Beatles were so successful because of the COMBINED talents of four very unique individuals. Take any one of them away and you no longer have the Beatles. Love ya Ringo!
All these years growing up, I thought John was supposed to be the funny and clumsy one in the band who will make the other members face palm, but it turns out Ringo is known as the funny Beatle. I always loved his yellow submarine and octopus’s garden songs and he had an amazing voice. Love for Ringo everyone!
Yellow submarine, Little help from my friends, Photograph, Octopus Garden, all some of my favourite songs of all time and Ringo’s slow and low voice is a huge part of that. One of my favourite musicians of all time ✌️❤️
But Paul was shown holding a cigarette (in his right hand) on the Abbey Road album cover, which were "clues" to him supposedly being dead (because the "real" Paul was left-handed and cigarettes were sometimes referred to as "coffin nails").
Everyone’s all like ‘RiNgO dIdNt GeT eNoUgH cReDiT’ but I think George was so underrated, he got one song one the album just like ringo, and no hurt on ringo but I feel like George was just as good or even better then John and Paul, but who knows
Actually, George wouldn't be like this. He actually helped write some of it, but didn't take any credit. Also, basic fact, Yellow Submarine was Lennon-McCartney
Ringo: *exists* Ringo: one of, if not, *THE* Greatest drummer if all time Ringo: Very nice and peaceful Ringo: Actually has a very nice voice, just not as good as the other three Ringo: without him the Beatles would not hit their peak popularity as if they had pete best Media: Hey! Let's make fun of this big nosed dweeb!!!
I think Ringo is a great guy. Certainly the Yellow submarine is a great song and we all love it, it impacted and even a movie was made under the same name....so...
Sacco Svd lol sadly I remember thinking that when I was younger. But it is definitely a Paul McCartney song. Paul likes writing kids songs and after he wrote it, he thought it would be a nice song for Ringo to sing. The only two songs that Ringo wrote were 'Don't Pass Me By" and "Octopus's Garden". He was given some credit on the song "Flying" from "The Magical Mystery Tour" LP.
jokes aside Ringo was a talented musician and on tracks like Goodnight from the white album he really shows how good of a singer he is. btw this video is as old as I am, pretty crazy how this just popped up on my recommended
John in the Movie Help: "We are risking our lives to help the useless member" Referring to Ringo Calling him useless, eh? Maybe you can solve that by LETTING HIM SING MORE!
Ringo was the best drummer the Beatles could have. He is still ranked as one of the best and most influential drummers of all times. Ringo can sing, act, and is a very funny guy. His role in the Beatles wasn't being a songwriter. There were already three f***ing good songwriters in the Beatles. Octopus' Garden is a very good song in my opinion, and one of my favorites among all albums. He didn't have to be a songwriter in the Beatles, yet he wrote this wonderful song and sang in many others. RIngo is one of the most recognizable drummers. I think this is cheap humor. And you could have done a better job recording the instrumental parts.
+rafasounds2010 I agree wholeheartedly. But this silly little thing is just something this channel made for entertainment. There's no need to be so offended
+rafasounds2010 Actually Lennon never said that. He had nothing but the highest regard for Ringo's drumming and said so in many interviews. And he used Ringo on several of his solo albums. It was said by a british comedian (can't remember his name) in the 80s, and attributed to Lennon on the internet. This might come as a shock but not everything you see or read on the internet is 100% true.
Lynn Turman He may have not said this particular sentence, but still he was an egomanic, hypocritical communist. And you should have replied to the guy who posted the sentence, not to me.
That’s a misconception. He was born left-handed but was taught to write and use his right hand instead. He writes and plays guitar with his right hand.
I know this is for humor. But a little backstory on the real answer why Ringo didn't sing a lot. He never was comfortable with having the spotlight on him so he only sang when he was comfortable. The group actually wanted Ringo to sing more. So that's a little story.

It was hard for both George and Ringo.
Julie Massey how?
Kinsey Harrison Typically people favor John and Paul over them and overlook their talent
Kinsey Harrison yea and both of them almost had to fight to get there songs on albums
that is true. george wanted more songs on the album but john and paul were jealous over the fact that he wrote better songs than they did which is why didn't want to put them on the album. that was a cause of the beatles break-up.
George was actually probably the most talented musically with the guitar especially but Ringo was just there to drop acid and hit things.
I like Octopus’s Garden (my dad always used to play Abbey Road in the car), but I must admit this is hilarious. To me it comes off less as making fun of Ringo and more of John and Paul’s dismissive attitudes.
It’s not very accurate, though.
Yeah even then John and Paul weren't that dismissive they actually wanted Ringo to sing more but he simply wasn't comfortable with singing
After watching the Get Back documentary, they were all just mates that would’ve been friends for life without the pressure of being the Beatles
Are we seriously just going to ignore the fact that this is actually a good remix
I love it
Beatles are my favourite band, and I love college humour, this awesome with octopus garden.
STOP HATING ON RINGO I LOVE HIM LEAVE HIM ALONE !!!’!!!!!!!!
It’s just a joke but yes, I’m a huge ringo fan!
@@KingRiverVlogs sorry haha I made that when I was 11
@@ginny3491 your good!
Yes
2:33 incorrect Abbey Road order, it should be: John, Ringo, Paul, George, I know it's just a nitpick but i wanted to point it out
it was the wrong way so ringo could fall in the back and not fall right in the middle
Plus Ringo was left behind at that bench scene where they were smoking
@@spicychipgaming2080 right. it all adds up that way and it was intentional
I noticed that too
Ringo wrote Octopus's Garden - which this song is to the tune of - as well as Don't Pass Me By.
Let It Be did not have a Ringo track.
mistermister98
Yeah, you're right. My bad.
Yes and no. The album was released about a month after the band broke up, but the actual songs were recorded before Abbey Road was. This has caused many fans to consider Abbey Road the last album, instead of Let it Be. And of course, Octopus's Garden is on Abbey Road, so he wouldn't have left at that point.
No problem. I really love The Beatles and all the information I have shared in this post has come from books about the band.
Ringo didn't sing on A Hard Day's Night
2:40, imagine being the guy in that van, seeing the Beatles doing that.. 😝
Honestly Ringo's my fav
+Aurora Angelica Mine too because he's been the narrator for the first 2 seasons of Thomas & Friends, made a guest appearance on The Simpsons and american voice actor Jess Harnell based the voice of Wakko Warner on him.
All jokes aside, they did an amazing job emulating the Yellow Submarine art style
Ringo's smile at the beginning is priceless.
Ringo: hey guys i wrote a song!
Paul: that’s great! I’ll just stick it right here on the refrigerator, right here so we can see it!
Ringo: GREAT!
@this name will be temporary because I do not like no shit Sherlock
@this name will be temporary because I do not like its called a reference dumbass
Quack
@this name will be temporary because I do not like nobody is nice on the internet. What are you, 6?

Guitar sounds: 🎶
Ringo playing bass: 👨🏻
It has 8 tuners and what looks like 5 strings on the tuners, but only 4 fretable strings. This is coz no cartoonist can get guitar playing right
0:13 Paul’s bass playing though
Ringo had singed “Boys”. He sang it beautifully!
Me: Why can’t I stop listening to this?
Ringo: it’s because my music is great even in a parody😉🙂
Important to mention that the Beatles were so successful because of the COMBINED talents of four very unique individuals. Take any one of them away and you no longer have the Beatles. Love ya Ringo!
All these years growing up, I thought John was supposed to be the funny and clumsy one in the band who will make the other members face palm, but it turns out Ringo is known as the funny Beatle. I always loved his yellow submarine and octopus’s garden songs and he had an amazing voice. Love for Ringo everyone!
I want to see Ringo Watching this video right now!
Aw, bless, Ringo is so sweet. This is by far my favourite CollegeHumor video. Brilliance.
Haha! That was great! Hopefully this isn't taken offensively, Ringo's drumming is pretty nice.
Yellow submarine, Little help from my friends, Photograph, Octopus Garden, all some of my favourite songs of all time and Ringo’s slow and low voice is a huge part of that. One of my favourite musicians of all time ✌️❤️
1:38 look, he is so talented that he can play a guitar solo with a bass....or a 4 string guitar
That somehow has 8 machine heads
1:11 paul look aggressive, accurate 😂
That car coming up to the crossing must've been extremely confused
1:59 it would be accurate if George was the one who is puffing smoke😂
But Paul was shown holding a cigarette (in his right hand) on the Abbey Road album cover, which were "clues" to him supposedly being dead (because the "real" Paul was left-handed and cigarettes were sometimes referred to as "coffin nails").
Funny thing is that my favorite Beatles song is octopus's garden
*is one of my favorite beatle songs lol
Why did you change it
@@mihlejonas7524 cause I got more into their music since then and found a couple songs I liked more. But it’s still a childhood favorite 👍🏻
This is great. Whoever plays Ringo is the right combination of goofy and lovable! Nice job.
Everyone’s all like ‘RiNgO dIdNt GeT eNoUgH cReDiT’ but I think George was so underrated, he got one song one the album just like ringo, and no hurt on ringo but I feel like George was just as good or even better then John and Paul, but who knows
George got to play "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
And wrote it
Actually, George wouldn't be like this. He actually helped write some of it, but didn't take any credit. Also, basic fact, Yellow Submarine was Lennon-McCartney
I love Octopus's Garden! Without Ringo, Beatles would never be complete.
this makes me laugh so hard, yet it's sadly true. poor rings.
How's William Shears Campbell treating you lately?
Ringo: *exists*
Ringo: one of, if not, *THE* Greatest drummer if all time
Ringo: Very nice and peaceful
Ringo: Actually has a very nice voice, just not as good as the other three
Ringo: without him the Beatles would not hit their peak popularity as if they had pete best
Media: Hey! Let's make fun of this big nosed dweeb!!!
the zoom out at 1:23 paired with the music just makes me laugh for some reason
I think Ringo is a great guy. Certainly the Yellow submarine is a great song and we all love it, it impacted and even a movie was made under the same name....so...
I like "a little help from my friends" a little better.
oops! I would of swear it was written by ringo as it is so simple....my bad
And Tomorrow Never Knows
I feel the most ironic part of this song is it is a parody of a song ringo sang
And wrote
jokes aside Ringo was a talented musician and on tracks like Goodnight from the white album he really shows how good of a singer he is. btw this video is as old as I am, pretty crazy how this just popped up on my recommended
1:28 ringo needs a friend 1like=10 friends
2:38 Ringo got some Friends
George Harrison once said "Octopus's Garden' is Ringo's song. It's only the second song Ringo has ever written, mind you, and it's lovely." 😂
@John Caulfield More like Liver-poor, am I right?
Are we all gonna ignore how much this guy sounds like ringo?
Expect he doesn’t have that big ass nose!
@@ObservingPaul678 ringos nose is nice :(

@@ObservingPaul678 ringo has a cute nose tho

am i the only person that when i listen to octopuses garden i accidentally sing one of this songs lyrics?
I actually listen to this more often than Octopus's Garden xD never really cared for it. I love don't pass me by though
Ringo is extremely underrated. Gave a huge contribution to the history of drumming.
Honestly, it's already strange that a band has more than one singer; but the Beatles managed to make songs that fit each of the member's voices.
The other Beatles actually wanted Ringo sing more soooooo......
Nice
*isnt it a pity* that he didnt name it George (only real ones will get this)
Ringo has said that he is perfectly content with his one track on most albums- still super funny though! LOVE YA RINGO! 😘
John in the Movie Help:
"We are risking our lives to help the useless member"
Referring to Ringo
Calling him useless, eh?
Maybe you can solve that by LETTING HIM SING MORE!
Ringo kicks ass
2:45 they wrote yellow submarine for him. He didn't write it.
"Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles"
Jose Diaz Said by an egomaniac, hypocrytical communist.
Ringo did Thomas The Tank Engine. And to CH's demographic, that's what really mattered.
HAHAHA this was adorable not gonna lie
RINGO FOREVER ✌️😎✌️ His songs are a treat to listen to 🥰
Why is Paul the shortest 😂
Because he's dead.
jk
Lol octopus’s garden is in my top ten favorite Beatles song
When Ringles was playing guitar, he was holding it as if he was right handed but he's left handed.
RiNgLeS
That’s a misconception. He was born left-handed but was taught to write and use his right hand instead. He writes and plays guitar with his right hand.
Whats amazing about Ringo is how well he fits into the Country Musuc realm of that time.
