My mom gave me this advice when I was a teenager, and it's never steered me wrong: "Any man who will leave their wife to be with *you* is entirely likely to someday leave YOU to be with another woman. If he's not willing to divorce his wife *before* even trying to get involved with you? He's a cheater, and cheaters rarely change their ways. So just walk away. Period."
Thank you, Mom! *Whew!* (As soon as my kids are old enough, I'll be giving them the exact same advice!)

@@dominiquejeanson3536 Amen to that! I had the unfortunate experience years ago of meeting a woman who seemed to actually enjoy ONLY pursuing sex and/or relationships with men who were already "taken," so to speak. She genuinely seemed to enjoy the sense of power that came from feeling so irresistible that she could entice a man away from a committed, long-term relationship. I initially realized what she was like when she suddenly showed *intense* sexual/relationship interest in my former fiancee; she'd known him since they were kids, and they'd even previously dated, but she never showed any interest in rekindling their relationship *until* she discovered he was engaged to me! Then, suddenly, she began working furiously to rekindle their relationship, to the point that she would set up the most ludicrous situations in order to get him alone with her. It actually would've been hilarious if it wasn't so infuriating at the time. (For example, she'd call half a dozen times a night multiple times per week, crying and hysterically begging my fiancee to come over and help her with some contrived problem. And of course, it was always a problem that she claimed ONLY he could help her with...)
She eventually married her best friend's fiancee, (with friends like her, who needs enemies, amirite?!) and last I heard she had abandoned her career and sounded just generally unfulfilled and frustrated. She did apparently eventually reach out to other men who were in relationships, but at that point she was married with kids and was a much less appealing candidate for a fling than when she'd been single.
It seems to me, at least, that once she actually got what she thought she wanted, she realized that for her the pleasure was in the chase...once she actually stole her friend's fiancee and married him, the challenge was lost and she was left feeling trapped and tied down.

It’s honestly crazy to me that Chris’s parents were so anti-Sheri because they didn’t feel like she was a good “Christian” but they were pro Tara 🤦🏽‍♀️ Tara who was a hostess at a Gentlemans club 😒 Tara who while having the affair with Chris, was also in a relationship with a man named Jesse and went on a cruise with him even though she had been with Chris for a few months at that point.
Tara was romantically linked to Sheri‘s brother Mario and they were also talking about marriage and kids while she was talking to Chris about the same things. And I think the craziest thing I found out was that Tara and Chris’s brother Keith were also sending sexually explicit images to each other. So who knows where chris’s dad got that naked photo of Tara? It could’ve come from Chris or it could’ve come from Keith or maybe Tara sent it directly to Ron.
It’s also disgusting that Ron and Chris were pushing this narrative of Sheri not doing her “wifely duties” because Sheri’s friends have talked about how Sheri would buy lingerie and try to seduce Chris because she wanted to reconnect with him but he turned her down. So sounds like she was trying to do her “wifely duties” 🤮 but Chris was the one not doing his duties as a husband. He was also a garbage father because apparently the family had planned to go to Disneyland and the kids were super excited about it, but then Chris just canceled the trip without telling Sheri and disappointed his whole family because he wanted to use the money to go on a cruise with Tara.
He murdered his whole family for a chick that wasn’t even all the way into him because she was dating three other dudes including his own brother. I guarantee you she just used him for free trips, jewelry but mostly the ability to rub it in Sheri‘s face. She would ask Chris to constantly tell her that he only wanted her and not Sheri. And that she was better and prettier that Sheri. Sounds to me like Sheri’s “best friend” was actually jealous of her and just wanted to take her husband because she could. That’s probably why she was so happy to do those interviews because she got the shine on her and she was able to brag about how Chris chose her over Sheri. I hope they both live miserably.

I even remembering briefly fearing it could happened to any of us when I heard the news. And it really is such a lovely town, very very quiet and low crime so it was a SHOCK. Well, a common quoted part of the bible IS “Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Saviour. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything”, so…debates around what “submitting” means aside, are we surprised these people who let their organized religion be the #1 ruler of their lives thought this way?
To clarify, I don’t believe religion itself is inherently harmful, but ORGANIZED religion is never immune to the desires of humans who want power and end up abusing said power to keep themselves on top, so…long story short: if their is a power hierarchy in an organized religious group - a religion that ALREADY centres around worshipping another otherworldly being - then there are going to be problems.

Chris’s “religious” parents are a great example of why I turned my back on organized religion! In my 60 years, I have seen an extraordinary number of “religious” men and women commit the most heinous crimes and then, try to hide behind their “faith!” I’m a retired Federal Probation and Parole officer and worked before that for a District Attorney as a Victim-Witness Coordinator. We had two Deacons of churches in my home town murder their wives (to be with mistresses) because they did not want to go through a divorce as the “Church” would not approve! One of these murders occurred just 3 blocks from my own home. It’s horrifying the violence that people will do because of/in the name of religion. I will never, ever step foot in a church again and I run far and fast away from “religious” people. I live my life trying to be a kind, charitable person. I just don’t think most “religions” encourage kindness, forgiveness, inclusiveness, love, and compassion anymore! Being religious does NOT make you a good person! Just the opposite, in lots of cases, is my experience! Chris and his parents are the perfect despicable examples of evil people hiding behind their fake pious personas. It’s hard to believe anyone in their right mind would attend a church that these two people “preach” at! Naked pics of his married sons’ girlfriend on his computer?? Disgusting human beings, he and his “Karen” wife! There’s a special place in hell for all 3 of them (as well as Tara, who is completely trashy in EVERY respect). Let’s stop listening to preachers and just be nice and respectful to each other, regardless of sexual orientation, race, gender, etc. At this point, I feel like organized religion is ruining this country! It has certainly been the catalyst for many a horrific crime I have personally had the misfortune of having to deal with.

I watched this on 60 minutes back in like 2012 and I was also attending a Megachurch at the time where they kept changing their mind on Joyce Myers. (I'm also from Illinois btw) I had no idea how much else bs was going on. That said, stopped going to that Megachurch and while they've been under fire since like 2017 (should've been sooner) they didn't give victims the justice they deserved either. Its so hard to find a not corrupt church here ugh 😑 Poor Sheri and the boys. They did not deserve any of this. I also hope his parents lost any respect in their community.

Narcissistic parents raise narcissists, same in Casey Anthony's case, and many, many others. These monsters are created. A child who "can do no wrong" while being held to impossible standard by a controlling parent at the same time, quickly learns that to do no wrong, he has only to pretend that he did no wrong.
P.S. He did not murder his lovely wife and kids because he feared that divorce would cost him his job. He murdered her because of narcissistic rage, and narcissistic discard, all precipitated by his wife knowing that he was not the man he pretended to be, and therefore in his mind, he lost control over her and she became an enemy to be destroyed, and children became an enemy by proxy. I was married to a narcissist for over a decade, and it was a miracle he did not manage to kill me; unfortunately, for many women, the story doesn't end the same way.

I was with at least 3 controlling, jealous, abusive men, it took me over 10 years to learn I deserved better. One of them slept around, after I left he got in a relationship with the woman he was cheating on me with, had a child and proceeded to sleep around again. For over 18 months I would get over 30 calls a day a few times a week, he was cheating and she was calling and saying nothing, she thought he was with me. He tried to get back with me after a few years, he was showing off with his abusive behaviour towards his partner and her mom (somehow he thought that would impress me) and confirmed where the harassment was coming from, I told him unless they both stopped contacting me I'd go straight to the police. And then I HAD PIECE AND QUIET.

I remember seeing this case on Dateline, years ago. Idk about privilege OR ( & I'm guessing on this next part based on his parents beliefs, him not believing in divorce-or being fearful he would loose his job over it, & his work w/ Joyce Myers) the type of strict Southern Baptist upbringing I suspect he had ( ie:see my prior far too long reasons I believe this was his upbringing). I can relate to the stress of bringing home someone who wasn't of the same faith or heaven forbid- no faith at all- that was a sin of paramount consequences. Regardless of all that, as a parent, @ some point you have to pull the cloak from your in front of your eyes so you can CLEARLY see your kid for who they REALLY are, if that doesn't work, they need to put on some glasses!! What really chapped my khakis was the creepy dad having pictures of Chris's mistress, Tara, in "compromising" positions. What a perv. And he calls himself a married MAN OF GOD. It's crap like this that give people of REAL FAITH a BAD name- cause truthfully, if he's looking @ "compromising" pics ( =naked pics ) of his SONS MISTRESS, this ain't his first rodeo( sorry, my southern roots are coming out-can't help it... this case PISSES ME OFF). His judg-ey, wife stayed w/ him b/c I'm sure he made her feel crazy and said he only had the pics b/c she wasn't performing HER wifely duties, so he needed something to keep him from straying... this is some sick 🤢mess! And the more I think about Tara's reaction when they told her,her lover was sending her explicit photos to his pastor father for his viewing pleasure ( the mental images that gives me just literally make me feel gross, disgusted, nauseated 🤢🤢). She just shrugged & said " idk anything about that." I would've been furious. But even worse, she obviously didn't care about her"best friend" to begin w/ as she had been traveling the world w/ her husband, wearing his "promise ring"-how middle school of him 😬, picking out baby names, & she had no emotion AT ALL about her BEST FRIEND, & 2 beautiful precious boys who were truly the innocents in all of this- no emotion at all when she was talking to detectives about their murder. NOT A DROP OF EMOTION. Instead, she was PROUD. Its like He was living 2 completely separate lives & wanted trade in his family for a new one- new kids, new wife. And she was happy to comply. I am CONVINCED that she was 100% involved w/ helping him plan this murder( even the fake email account, the death threats blah blah)... I don't they were smart at all- He knew the camera was aimed at his door so he couldn't have thought that thru- for the plan to work, they needed to make sure someone was caught going in or out of that house close to the time of death( duh) and the receipt for the spray paint - again ( Duh- a detectives dream). I don't think she killed them, but for her... they'd still be alive. And you mentioned him showing signs of being a psychopath- I think we have more than 1 in this case w/ the mistress absolutely being a close 2nd to Chris.

Coleman lived in Columbia, IL, right across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, MO, my hometown. I knew he was the murderer as soon as they tracked his cell phone movements. Instead of crossing the JB Bridge from St. Louis and veering right into Columbia, he went left into Dupo, Illinois and drove around for five minutes or so before going home. He wanted the police to arrive at his home for their "wellness check" before he himself arrived. When he did arrive, Justin Barlow and the other 2 police officers had already discovered the three dead bodies in the house. I attended many days of that trial, and the hatred between the families is that courtroom was so heavy you could feel it in the air. When he was convicted, the cheering outside the courthouse in Waterloo was wild. BTW, Coleman's mother showing up in a wheelchair was just a bid for sympathy. The woman could walk with no trouble.

I'm just starting to watch and I'm already getting an Entwistle vibe about his parents.
Their precious baby boy couldn't possibly do anything wrong, especially considering he's with a heathen, so surely it must be her. He'd never hurt a fly 🙄
Edit after watching: I love how he's so worried about the stigma that divorce would have on his job, so he decides that murder is the better way to go. I think I remember watching a documentary on this case ages ago and the lady he worked for was informed of his thinking, that he would lose his job if he got divorced and all of that, and if I remember it right, she actually said that wouldn't have happened. She said that they don't encourage people to get divorced, but it happens, so she would have just worked it out with him. I think she meant it as she would be there to counsel him, or his wife, if it was necessary, but his job was secure, so he killed them for absolutely no reason.

I’m only 12 mins in and I am already feeling my blood pressure rising! 🤯 How does leaving the military bc you want to have a more settled & less dangerous job now that you have a family, lead to becoming a personal bodyguard for a famous female religious leader, who is basically constantly “on tour “, so you’re rarely ever home, make sense? Not to mention the fact that religious events tend to cause a lot of controversy that puts them more at risk of being hurt. 🙄
So now he is never hardly home and his wife is having to take care of the kids, house, & everything else, all alone, without him. The little time he was around, to help, is the only time she has a chance to relax at all. By the time he gets back home she is probably 100% exhausted and has zero energy left for those“wifely duties “! Maybe if he did his “father & spouse duty” like he vowed to do, she would have the energy for more of that “wifely duty” he was whining about😬😵‍💫

Not to mention she probably already suspected him of cheating which is probably why she wasn't interested in sleeping with him.

Do you think he may have taken the job as a means to leave his wife and not have responsibility?

@@Ninjaair64 I don’t think so. I feel like his decision to get out of the Military was his original intention. I think his parents were behind him taking the bodyguard job. They thought he “deserved” a better wife, & she wasn’t good for their son. They want him to find someone else, and what better way to get him away from her and around the type of women they wanted him to marry, than get your famous friend, to hire him as her personal bodyguard where he is constantly around the kind of women they want, and keeps him away from the wife that they don’t like. They also likely knew how much stress this would put on her, trying to get her to leave him. Parents like his tend to be a huge part of the “what went wrong” problems that lead them these situations!
