I'm always fumbling along, trying to keep up with the class, both video classes and in-person. I try to emulate the graceful and strong movements of my favorite teachers, but I just don't get it! This video really broke down WHY I'm not getting it. I'm huffing and puffing along, wasting energy, making no gains in my health and well being. Thank you for the in-depth explanations and guidance.

Good to hear these points about practice instead of 'work out'. I suppose any thing physically challenging to the body brings about the heart to race and the breath to deepen. I enjoy the after feeling of pushing my body but not the motivation before hand to start the activity. Here is the rub: is it exercise or is it yoga? I think it is like holding a bar of soap. Don't hold too tightly or loosely but find the right pressure. It is finding the middle ground of tension when working through the postures/asanas in the `Primary Series. It seems like a great art really. One can bumble through the 'postures' but to really flow through each one breathing in a controlled manner takes skill. It brings me to another point about all the different asanas. It appears that within each asana there is a whole world to learn to get it right where it feels comfortable and energising. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on these FUNDAMENTALS.

Interesting video. It's the second time watching it for me. FYI the message "the less you eat, the healthier you will be" should come with a disclaimer. That philosophy absolutely does not apply to everyone and can be dangerous for those coming from disordered eating backgrounds. Please make sure to be careful with that kind of messaging next time. There's also some debate in the yoga community over life being measured in the number of breaths you take. The info in the video is traditional to some yogic cultures but a little outdated as far as what we know about the human body now.
