I can’t wait even though I’m going by myself, I’ve seen Jon live at least 20 times with YES, with Trevor & Rick, with The School of Rock Kids, & a bunch of times solo, each & every time it’s been amazing. GOD BLESS Everyone!!!

Very cool to hear the different instrumentation and phrasing on this version! And You And I is probably my favourite Yes song of them all, if I had to choose! As esoteric as Jon's lyrics usually are, this song somehow makes perfect sense to me 😂.

I see Yes as a prog band for people who don't like prog -- with their tight arrangements and wonderful melodies, and lack of drawn out instrumental noodling like so many others in this genre. Yes they are severely underrated - such a shame.
For melodic brilliance, hard to fault and showcasing the individual genius of each member of the band, and one the three tracks on arguably best progresses rock album
Yes is one of the few bands that sounds better live than in their original recordings. I highly highly recommend checking out And You and I from their 2003 live recording from Montreaux. Fantastic!
This is a rough take, they would record in segments, and splice together the arrangement, then learn the actual arrangement for live shows, and often to lay down the foundation tracks, often playing along with other takes to keep other overdubs. Close to the Edge was done that way, which is also why it has section names.
This one is a first. Lovely song. For me, overshadowed by the other 2 songs. And when I hear this, I remember that all 3 are needed to give the whole thing the harmony and balance. What an achievement. ❤ I was watching Jon earlier interviewed about the new tour. He’s 80. ❤

I can just imagine a royal court as one legendary dignitary after another marches to the foot of the king and queen at the altar of all-knowing. Yes, one of the greatest experiences entailing Yes was sitting in my friend's beat-up Volkswagen Passat stoned out of our minds listening to Cose to the Edge. It's bad enough being straight listening to that song, takes you so far out of reality. When it was done, we just sat for a long while before reality was allowed back in. Yes, one of the greatest bands ever to grace this fair earth. Paz!
Your alternate version is the version I remember, and I was there when it came out. Radio stations must have cut it down. Never cut a YES song. It's sacrilege!

I thought the opening harmonics were Steve Howe checking the tuning on his 12 string, which they thought sounded cool so left them in the final track. But as he did them on them on this early take too (this appears to be a comp of various rehearsals), they must be an intentional part of the arrangement.

Either you've inherited some very rich friends (awesome)! or someone successfully steamed off the replacement cover (not advised, but still awesome if successful) or it's a reproduction (better than not having it). Could this be a Steven Wright remix, I know he did about 5 Yes classic albums including this one, along with a bunch of Jethro Tull and other bands. He is the founder and main musician in porcupine tree.
Though good maybe it’s because it is live, he does not give me that emotional lift as the original vocals ! By the way I got high on life with this one back in the early to mid 1970’s not on any drugs. Of course I was only a young teenager when I first heard the live version on YESSSONGS!
Two things. If pushed I would probably say this is my favorite YES song. The other. I hope this is your new set up. I’m not remotely OCD but the other room with its miss aligned posters, the one above your head buckling like it might fall any minute. Kinda made me antsy.

Roundabout was in our school’s jukebox - my introduction to Yes. Fragile was in the first group of albums I bought when I could afford a stereo.

Very interesting, never heard this cut. Don't remember Steve Howe using the reverse attack effect in anything else.
