No TH-cam comment can do this film justice. It’s the best ever, that’s all I can say. There isn’t and never will be a film that even comes close to the Shawshank Redemption.
What is amusing about this movie is to me, that the actor who played "Andy Dufresne" Tim Robbins was also in "Howard the Duck". What's my point? I have not point.
In my opinion, the greatest film ever made bar none. Don't know how many times I have seen it, but I could watch it over and over again and never get bored. First class story, acting and casting, not just Morgan Freeman and Tom Robbins, but the others as well. Absolute perfection.
This movie was filmed in the prison where I live! My parents were extras in the very first movie ever filmed at the very same prison and that’s how they met and have been married 45 years now LOL. You can do tours there and go through the different props used in the Shawshank redemption
@@vetiverose128 look up Harry and Walter go to New York. That’s the first movie ever filmed at our Ohio State reformatory and that’s the reason why I exist lol
I watched this for the first time when I was 18, now I'm 21 and must have watched it like 50 times already...... This movie.... I will watch it even when I'm old and above 60 no matter how many times I've already watched it by then.
Well I first watched it when it came out in 1994 (30 years ago) in the cinema. The audience sat there in stunned silence at the end with tears of joy, never seen anything like it before or since. I can testify that I have watched this film over 200 times over those years, still not bored and it still makes me cry. This is not only the best film in history, it's akin to a religion, it touches your soul very few films ever do.
I'm almost 40 and have never seen this movie. Randomly popped in my head, looked up the trailer and read the comments and decided I'm going to watch it tonight.

This is one of my all time favorites, I laugh at the jokes still, get mad at the warden and capt of the guard still and when Andy walks out of all them banks with the warden's money I smile still
It is 'THE' GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME. The feel the ending scene of this movie gives whenever I watch it cannot be recreated by any movie. The tear of happiness that drops from your eye when you finish this MOVIE gives you the hope that no other circumstance can give you for your life. I just think if I could go back in time and watch this masterpiece again for the first time. The sufferings andy went through are not meant to have happened to us in our life, but the writing of the story makes us connect with his character so much that at some point, we want him to escape the prison and live his own life. This will always stay in my heart as my most favourite film.
i do not remember when did i watch this movie for the first time . every time i see this movie its like i am watching it for the first time , such a motivational movie , these types of movies are made once in a century. could not get tired watching it over again and again
I'm an Indian and I still vividly remember watching this masterpiece back in 1994 when I was working in IBM in the United States of America. This movie is well ahead of it's time.
I'm a high school teacher (Junior AVID) and for our 'determination' theme unit, I just showed this film. Yes I got parent permission slips ;p It was so awesome seeing a bunch of 16-17 year olds watch this for the first time, and have their minds blown by what is arguably the greatest ending / last 30 minutes of any film ever made.
A masterpiece beyond comprehension. Nothing has come close in 30 years! Greatest movie ever made? Hard to compare to films of different style, tone and genre. For me, equal top 5 ever with DEAD POETS SOCIETY, STAR WARS, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, JAWS. A.
The life lessons I got from the Shawkshank Redemption - 1. Hope is Powerful: The film emphasizes that hope can sustain us through even the toughest times. Andy Dufresne's unwavering hope ultimately leads to his freedom. 2. Perseverance: Andy's determination to improve his situation, despite the odds, teaches the importance of resilience and hard work. 3. Friendship: The bond between Andy and Red highlights the value of companionship and loyalty in overcoming adversity. 4. Integrity and Morality: Andy maintains his principles in a corrupt environment, illustrating that integrity is crucial, even when it’s difficult. 5. The Importance of Freedom: The story underscores the human desire for freedom and self-determination, reminding us to cherish our liberties. 6. Redemption: Everyone has the potential for change and redemption, showing that past mistakes do not define us.
