US Open 2011 and 2015 for me was Federer's best US Opens after he turned 30. The footwork, shotmaking, variety.

Roger's 2011 post-match presser was the most salty I had ever seen him! Had his chances and simply blew it! Just like in '08, '09, '10, & '17, the '11 result denied us the potential Rafa/Roger US Open meeting. Still can't believe they never played once at the Open!
As far as 2015, I remember after watching Roger beat Stan in semifinal that, he was going to win the title playing that well! Patrick McEnroe said the same afterwards as well, but, Roger didn't even come close to that same level in the final. He played good, but not great! He was 4/23 on break opportunities; had he even converted 2-3 more, we were at least looking at 5 sets. Just not good enough against Novak!

Interestingly, after turning 30 Federer played his worse tennis in Grand Slams in New York.
In 2011 and 2015 he was in great shape but in the other editions his performances were, at least, below his standard suffering all kinds of opponents.
In 2012 he came in as the favourite but was outgunned by an in form Berdych, which he suffered a lot in those days ( his H2H with the czech player in 2010-2012 is 3-5, specifically 0-2 in Slams ).
In 2013 he didn't look good due to physical issues and was easily defeated by a consistent baseliner like Robredo ( this is Federer's only defeat against the spanish player ).
In 2014 he suffered tremendously against Monfils in the QF but with Djokovic out still looked the favourite for the win untill Cilic crushed him in a once in a lifetime performance.
In 2017 he was in bad shape due to a back injury he suffered in the Toronto's final and an in form del Potro defeated him convincingly.
In 2018 he wasn't in good shape at all ( his performance in the Cincinnati's final was awful ) and he looked slow and fatigued against a well playing grinder like Millman.
Finally, in 2019 he lost ( once again, for the only time ) against a brilliant shotmaker like Dimitrov even though, once again, with Djokovic out he looked the favourite.
Given that he always performed well in Australia, I wonder why Federer looked flat in NY on so many occasions.
I read that the NY court in the last years is slower and that the bounce is higher.
And we all know that the weather is very humid, there.
Maybe these factors, combined with Federer being incapable to play a full schedule after turning 30, contributed to his many disappointing performances.

@@alvisedoria7782 It's because it's at the end of a long US Open Series, which in turn comes after a long period of non-stop playing since January. Roger just couldn't sustain it anymore.

Best match from Roger in the us open 2011 by far: just against the guy he lost to in their previous matches that year
