This might be my favorite video you guys have ever done. Rex is honestly such a great interviewer. The behind the scenes interviews paired with his quest to get his own distillery to that level - you can really feel his want to know as much as he can from this experience. It's honest and transparent, and just like the gentlemen at Sagamore attest, that's what people want. Thanks everyone. ❤🥃
Their Double Oak is my favorite whiskey. There may be better Rye out there, but on my fixed income, 60 bucks is near my top end. So to see the whole operation and meet the faces behind my favorite pour,10 thumbs up. You need to do more videos like this. Meaning.......going out to the distilleries and farms etc. Excellant video. Thank you.
I went to the distillery in 2019 and blasted them and almost got kicked out cause everything was out sourced and on the flight the only one I like ended up being a $90 bottle and was not worth it in my opinion but I gave it another shoot and tried the double oak rye and all I can say is wow I agree it’s probably one of the best ryes on the market and I have like 150 different bottles from bourbon to ryes to whiskey and I’ve been drinking there double oak rye just stated in the end is sep and I’m on my 4th bottle already
living in Maryland since before Sagamore opened you know the name but this was a really cool behind the scenes that even if you do the regular tour you simply won't get. Gave me a ton of respect for what they do over their in Baltimore. Cheers!
Lucky Ducks!...you got the tour of a lifetime! That Ryan Norwood guy...holy!...smart, articulate, KNOWS every aspect of each step of the way, and didnt shy from any questions! You can FEEL his passion for what he is doing there....and the research, testing and development along the way for each batch? INSANE quality control...and it shows in their product! This is now on my list of places to drive down from Canada to visit!
The absolute best distillery tour that I’ve ever seen. Great job of infusing humor, personalities, history and transparency in this piece. If only everyone could have such an experience when they visit a distillery.
Originally from northeastern Oho, now living south of Baltimore, and a rye lover, I'm so glad you featured this one. I'm disappointed in that I would have loved to meet you after your tour, but I know your time is busy too...your videos are always a hit for me, and one or two of them (about dry months) have hit home in a different way too. Stay weird, glad you showed off some local greats.
I visited them years ago on a business trip to Baltimore- one of the best distillery tours I’ve been on, and their tasting room is amazing. As they said this was the rye that won me over to the spirit; I was in the camp of not liking rye until I tried theirs.
This is my second time watching this video. The first time got me interested enough to go buy Sagamore small batch. I’ve always been a bourbon drinker but never been big on Rye whiskey. Now I am sitting here watching the video again while sipping Sagamore. Sagamore small batch will now be in my rotation from now on and I can’t wait to try the double oak and cast strength! Great video Whiskey Tribe and great whiskey Sagamore!
I’m the “rye guy” at the bars where I work. I found out about Sagmore two years ago, and it quickly became one of my favorites. Top quality stuff, and now I see why. HOWEVER, there’s one small batch rye that in my opinion clears the rest, and that rye is Cedar Ridge. I got a bottle of their first batch and immediately went back to clear out the store’s inventory. I’d love to see a tour of their facilities on this channel some day.
This is my first time seeing a video from Whiskey Tribe and was happy to find a video on Sagamore. This distillery is slowly becoming one of my favorites so thank you for taking us all behind the scenes!
So cool, I went Sagamore distillery in the spring and really enjoyed their tour. Sagamore makes some of the best rye whiskey on the market. I love Sagamore whiskey and hope they continue their success.👍🏼
I am so sad. I'm from cockeysville md .you were right here and I missed out on meeting you . Long time fan ,I've learned a lot and laughed a lot because of you all. Your all on my bucket list lol. I'm glad you got to check out Sagamore and hope you enjoyed baltimore. Maybe next time.darn it . Oh and we need crowed barrel products here help us underprivileged alcoholics. And thanks again for the years of laughter and many more years of it to come .
The content on this channel just stays at such a high level....it's impressive. I look forward to it all...and I guess I gotta grab all the Sagamore 8 year rye I can now while it's still MGP!!
Such a great video! I was one of those bourbon guys that thought I didn’t like rye, and Sagamore was one of the first that opened the gateway to me loving ryes. The funny part is that I’m originally from Baltimore, and when I first tried them I had no idea where they were from, but now I feel that sense of pride every time I have a pour.
And this year they released a 9 year. I'm very close to Baltimore and managed to grab a bottle at my honeyhole store, but it's all gone here. Pretty sure the 8 and 9 year are still MGP, not their distillate. I can't wait for high aged Sagamore distillate.
Answers that Q- what is Md style rye? It has corn in it. That means WT RB rye is Md style. Don't know if WT101 is also high corn or straight rye. In the 90s I preferred rye as it had a bite. I was not a wheated fan (MM) . Sadly, there were only 2 brands of rye in the early 90s, if memory serves. Living in SE Va we only get basic Sag rye and their DO. The DO is great. I grabbed their rum casked on a trip to Md. It was a lovely mint without rum flavor. As the bottle sat, the rum flavor became more pronounced or correctly, it finally announced itself. Sag's Amaro, if they still make it, is superb.
I have not liked previous Rye's I've tasted. Yesterday was at my local Total Wine and Oregon Spirit was there with a table. They had all their whiskeys out. Their Rye is actually really smooth and pleasant. I complimented them on making one I like.
Even if this is just a half hour long ad for Sagamore, this is really cool. I learned so much and was really impressed by how Sagamore handled the questions. Telling the VP of operations that nobody cares about Maryland style rye could have easily been a disaster but once they were done talking I immediately wanted to try it. Very cool video
Wow. So open and helpful and proud ( justifiably ) of what they do, I want straight online to do some shopping. Can't wait to try them. This was definitely a standout video. ... that 24 inch column...drool.
Being a Baltimore resident, I am spoiled with proximity to Sagamore. I only wish you guys could have experienced a Penny's Proof event before it ended last year. I highly recommend checking out their videos from the orevious events. Always a fun time, and the hospitality was on point. It was an opportunity to experience their distillate as it came of age. Knowing it wasn't ready for market yet, they allowed the local whiskey nerds to experience it anyway. Now that their distillate is 7+ years old, the event isn’t as important when you can go buy their BiB. Hopefully something takes its place since the event itself was a blast.
On Nov. 9th they're having their "Made in Maryland" event. I think that's as close as we are getting for now. I was lucky enough to get to experience last year's Penny's Proof.
@squeaky_moths they got more fun every year. The first one was freezing cold and windy, so it wasn't as crowded. But the past several years I would meet up with a group around 3am to wait in line. We'd have our own little bottle share with the folks in line around us, and we made a party out of it. Such good times.
Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to sample some of their incredible offerings at the Adelaide Whisky Show here in South Australia. When you love what you're doing that much, the word of mouth does all the heavy lifting.
Loved this. I'm a bourbon guy, not typically into ryes, even though I've tried a LOT, but I had Sagamore's Cask Strength Rye a couple yrs back and it's still my favorite rye. I don't think I'll ever drink a rye bottle that fast again! 😂🥃
Have been a fanboy of Sagamore for a while. Double oak is great, but really love their 8 yr old. It’s phenomenal. First video I’ve seen of their place and was really happy to see it. Thanks for sharing.
Primo. I've tried Rye over the years and it never stuck. I'm going to try Sagamore. Storytelling is what it's about. We can all dream about the possibilities. But making clear the insane amounts of hard work behind the success is where it's at.
What an absolute beauty of a video! Loved the edit with the music, maybe it’s not totally in the budget but you guys should do more road trips like this! Just don’t take it too far…like for example Banana in Scotland…
Maryland: it's not a state, it's a cult. There are actually several DC/Maryland distilleries that make very solid ryes. Sagamore is probably the best known, but I'm also a big fan of Twin Valley (I helped with a tasting of their products at my synagogue this year where we usually try to highlight a different local distillery and they were sadly out of their rye, though their bourbon is fine). There's also Republic Restorative in DC, who have a really solid, slightly smokey rye (they also have a rye/bourbon blend that's very tasty). I tend to prefer scotch to rye, but I grew up drinking ryes, and it's definitely a comfort drink for me, and I love supporting local.
@@kvetcha other than their honey rye, they’re actually hard to get around me. The county runs this liquor stores, which results in somewhat limited supply (there are some CC products at some of the stores, but I’d have to drive all over the county to find which one has it at that time).
A good, informative tour. Bring British I prefer Scottish Whisky or Irish Whiskey rather than Bourbon. I know that there are some very good Boubon’s, I just haven't found any here in England yet.
Sagamore was the first distillery I've visited. I've been a big fan of them and ryes in general. They do some very cool experimental stuff in addition to their standard ryes being great.
Nice interview, I believe the only MGP they have left is in their 8 and 9 year, and I most likely the 10 year next year will be a mix but all rest of their line is done on site.
I had a bottle give to about a year or so ago by a friend that's from Baltimore I enjoyed the bottle being I'm one of those that don't like rye but being that they make it 100% in house now gonna have to find me a bottle or bottles

I hope this sparks a series visiting craft distilleries.

I've been drinking a minnesota rye that's double oaked. It's pretty tasty. But sag double is by far my favorite .
I agree! Distillery visits to really give us a picture of who they are and what’s out there would be great
I went to the distillery in 2019 and blasted them and almost got kicked out cause everything was out sourced and on the flight the only one I like ended up being a $90 bottle and was not worth it in my opinion but I gave it another shoot and tried the double oak rye and all I can say is wow I agree it’s probably one of the best ryes on the market and I have like 150 different bottles from bourbon to ryes to whiskey and I’ve been drinking there double oak rye just stated in the end is sep and I’m on my 4th bottle already
The DO and Barrel Proof are excellent values. I typically do not like double oak whiskey but this a very, very quality bottle.
Yes!!!
living in Maryland since before Sagamore opened you know the name but this was a really cool behind the scenes that even if you do the regular tour you simply won't get. Gave me a ton of respect for what they do over their in Baltimore. Cheers!
I'm not a big comment guy, but I really enjoyed that video. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic. More of this please. Augusta, Willett, Ben Holliday, Dettling, Frey, Garrison, Balcones, etc etc etc. Love it.
The absolute best distillery tour that I’ve ever seen. Great job of infusing humor, personalities, history and transparency in this piece. If only everyone could have such an experience when they visit a distillery.
Y'alls distillery tours are consistently some of the best filmography found anywhere on this platform.
Now this is the kind of material I want to see from this channel. Whiskey stuff.

One of the best videos on the channel, thanks to Rex, Banana and everyone else behind it.

Great video, loved the behind the scenes, loved the pointed questions, very interesting!
The content on this channel just stays at such a high level....it's impressive. I look forward to it all...and I guess I gotta grab all the Sagamore 8 year rye I can now while it's still MGP!!
Great watch! We distribute Sagamore in Australia. I'll be sharing this video with our team for some extra insight into the distillery!
Great video, sagamore is fantastic whiskey and the double oak is amazing!! Thanks for the tour!
What a great video and a big kudos to the Sagamore team for inviting you in for a BTS view. Well done all around!
You all look so happy doing this. It's such a joy to watch.
Such a great video! I was one of those bourbon guys that thought I didn’t like rye, and Sagamore was one of the first that opened the gateway to me loving ryes. Very nice. Such a great tour and a wonderful distillery.
Very interesting episode, it was great to see how Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey is made. Best regards Radek from Poland
What a tour! Thanks for sharing. That Double Oak is special!
One of my favorite places to visit being a Maryland resident. Great video and great tour.
You forgot, great whiskey.
Great episode, thank you for the introduction to a new a new bottle of adventure. Really cool place!
So cool seeing behind the scenes of places like this. What a fun video.
I enjoyed every second of that video! Love Sagamore Spirits.
Their 8 years aged is one of my all time favorite whiskies. Cheers! 🥃

Great episode. Die hard Sagamore lover. Will definitely do a distillery tour next time I’m out that way.
Honestly, a great video. Well done. Cheers!

Loved this vid! I’ll be looking for sagamore rye here in Massachusetts!
I don’t like ryes until I visited Sagamore in 2018 and it completely changed my mind. An awesome rye that is very approachable
Sagamore Spirit Rye is one of my very favorite whiskies. I had some last night. Just delicious.
I will definitely try them out. Next field trip Nearest Greene!!!
Wow. So open and helpful and proud ( justifiably ) of what they do, I want straight online to do some shopping. Can't wait to try them. This was definitely a standout video. ... that 24 inch column...drool.

They make a beautiful product! I'll try to find some sagamore here in Brazil!
Another informative and interesting video, y’all. Made me want to go out and get a bottle. (Hope I can find one here in Japan…)
MAN!!!! What a GREAT video!! Thank y'all for putting that out!! ! I do like the SAG stuff... VERY good juice!!
The first whiskey tube channel I ever subscribed to, visiting the first (and only so far) distillery I ever visited. Glad you didn't screw it up.
Love Sagamore! Glad to see the video.
Great Stuff 🥃👍🇺🇲
Hopefully one day you come out to Australia and tour some of our distilleries!! ☺️
Such a cool and friendly community. I’ve been a Sagamore fan for a while… this video made me a super fan! Thank you, you magnificent bastards!
These guys/gals are awesome and they make great whiskey. Try their double oaked if you can get it in your area it’s a solid and deep tasting bottle!
I was wanting to try your rye and found the Double Oak to be nothing less than fantastic. Thanks for introducing your process to us.
Have been a fanboy of Sagamore for a while. Double oak is great, but really love their 8 yr old. It’s phenomenal. First video I’ve seen of their place and was really happy to see it. Thanks for sharing.

Wow. Very well done, as usual for you guys. Maybe do more distillery tours, along with some very nice bar tours and liquor store tours?
What an absolute beauty of a video! Loved the edit with the music, maybe it’s not totally in the budget but you guys should do more road trips like this! Just don’t take it too far…like for example Banana in Scotland…
I agree more road trips but also... how dare you

Don't forget Catoctin Creek out of Virginia!

Sagamore is 100 percent amazing love everything they come out with. Now they contract distill EverNorth which is also amazing too!
I picked up my first Sagamore Spirit Rye a month ago. I got the Manhattan Finish and I freakin' love it.
This was one of the best videos you guys have done. Loved it! Love me some Sagamore Double Oaked!
A good, informative tour. Bring British I prefer Scottish Whisky or Irish Whiskey rather than Bourbon. I know that there are some very good Boubon’s, I just haven't found any here in England yet.
Such a fun and informative video. I'll be trying Sagamore. Thank you
Sagamore was the first distillery I've visited. I've been a big fan of them and ryes in general. They do some very cool experimental stuff in addition to their standard ryes being great.
I love Sagamore! There sherry finished barrel proof is amazing.
Nice interview, I believe the only MGP they have left is in their 8 and 9 year, and I most likely the 10 year next year will be a mix but all rest of their line is done on site.
Love this type of video! So interesting and Sagamore is one of my top choices for rye! The PX Sherry finish is really awesome! Cheers!
That was an awesome walk through. I love Sagamore already, but now I'm feeling i need to run to the package store to go get another bottle😂
Awesome video!
Damn nice video, recently got some Sagamore and appreciate the story and tour.
Not a rye drinker, but I might just try some of this. And I saw that they actually sell Sagamore whiskey here in Holland.
Crazy the farm is not far from me and I drive by it often. Now I will have to give this a try
Best video ever, dream to see Sagamore 🥃
I had a bottle give to about a year or so ago by a friend that's from Baltimore I enjoyed the bottle being I'm one of those that don't like rye but being that they make it 100% in house now gonna have to find me a bottle or bottles
Great video I would love to see more like this
You guys were at Sagamore farm, less than 10 minutes from my house, and Brianna didn't stop by? What kind of bullshit is that?? 😉
Great video though!
I do not like rye whiskey, but i am going to try a bottle of Sagamore Since all they do is rye, i think they should0 be good. Thank you for the tour!
I’m such a TH-cam recording nerd. Holyland lark 2!!! So excited to pick up that tiny cheap bad boy, lol
New found respect for Sagamore! Excellent job guys!
My nerd friend and I blended the 8 year with the Sherry Sagamore. AND IT WAS AMAZING.
This video was kick ass guys! -DirtySouthDistiller
I enjoy using Sagamore to make an Old-Fashioned. It's spicy enough to blend well with the orange flavor without overwhelming the palate.
Their Rye finished in Sherry Casks is amazing.
Rex Williams, Sagamore salesman of the year. Seriously. I went to Total Wine and the only hole in the wall of bottles was Sagamore.
@WhiskeyTribe Liked the Video planning a trip out to Sagamore in February looking for hotel which one did you stay at. Thank you
It isn't about the size of the distillery.....it is about how you use it!!!! 😝
That was fun....Keep up the great work.
Never been this early to a whiskey tribe video, been a fan for awhile now! It was fun seeing Brianna be a guest star turned permanent member
Great video thanks
I go to sagamore regularly and am sipping on a sagamore small batch right now. So i may be biased... but this video was awesome!
And now I'm nostalgic for the time I spent in Baltimore. O's, Boh's and..... (apparently) Rye Whiskey!
I love Sagamore even more since they have released their small batch.
Life is too short. Enjoy being alive. It’s a (the) present
