The OEM joy con controllers and those thumb sticks are carbon pad based, cleaning them with contact cleaner will help but eventually the carbon pad wears out and the same problems will occur, or it won't register inputs at all. You can find pictures of the internals on the net. Love watching your tear downs and deep cleans :)
I'd definitely recommend off-brand controllers as a first step for anyone who is new to this kind of stuff. They're often much less complicated and have fewer parts than official controllers. And, of course, if you break them, they're pretty cheap.
Those are off brand? They look like the Daemon Ex Machina Hori Split Pad Pro. Or is that what you mean by off brand?
Woah! Thanks for pointing that out! I changed the title.
No prob! I have this set as well. The tell is that red X button. Meant to say: I enjoyed the video!
Thank you dear. I am so proud of you and because you did such a good job, I am going to let you keep the controllers. Love and hugs.
You're the best!
Come on, mom, say you're proud of him 😂
Your mom is an avid gamer lol. I love it

i also enjoy seeing all the different parts spread out on the mat
Yeah, I really like the Hori split pad. It fits my big hands quite a bit better than standard joycons do.

Where did you get the extra thumb sticks from? The stick on my left Hori pad snapped down the middle.
