Overloud released an update for all of their TH-U versions to Fluid IR's. By using the TH-U Cabinet/Speaker only, I was able to get some amazing tones from my current sim heads including NeuralDSP, Gnome and even Helix Native, using Blue Cats Axiom. What a great time to be a guitar player. Hats off to Overloud.
Phenomenal Andy, I love the Hysteria Rockmas tone, 2 nd song I played on mine, after more than a feeling. Never before has something been so dialed in where I can just play and have the tones I’m looking for. I love all the Michael Nelson BHS iconic packs, with #3 in my cart now for Black Friday sale. Rock on brother
I have to say... I am simply overwhelmed with all the amazing amp sims available today. Nerual, ML Sound Labs, Kemper, Fractal, Line 6, Nembrini, STL Tone Lib and THU to name a few. I am after a solid nice modern djent progressive metal tone and I am influenced by bands like ERRA, The Helix Nebula, Vitalism, Substructure, and of course Periphery... That staccato riffing, downtuned notes, tight fast and articulate sounds is what I am after. I own THU Metal (eh... but it is probably me, I am not very talented) I have the free stuff from ML Sound Labs the Fluff and Stevie T vst's are awesome. But nothing I own seems to really sound tight on my 7 string... There are sooo many rig's over at Overloud but they really do not seem to be focused on modern metal - is there one that you would recommend? Also they now have a set of amps and effects called "All Metal Gears" - has anyone tried this? If so, what were your thoughts? What can it do and what can't it do? And thanks for the great video!
I think the tone you’re after is one of the hardest to find. There isn’t much in rig player land for that, the Mesas and Engl do it for me I guess. The Neural plug-ins should be the way. Lots of seven string players. I haven’t tried the Petrucci one but I bet it’s dope for 7-8 strings. And Abasi’s and Nolly. I need to shoot them out again with my 7 and 8 strings.
I disagree, the 6505 captured with the Attack overdrive(Misha used to use the real one for tightening and aggressiveness) is the way to go. It's called Pivy 65 in the rig store. Check out. Just disable the built in cab and put a separate cab block. Adjust to taste with the mesa eq after amp before cab. You can get a gent tone pretty much with any high gain amp. But yeah the 6505 with the Attack pedal and a noise gate is pretty much the invective. The invective is based off the 6505.
thu is the only amp sim i can "feel" while playing. ive talking heaps of shit about the word "feel" but from the very first second playing with it i could feel the amps react to my pick and so much more. sold my line 6 hardware, ditched my helix native and neural. tried IK media but didnt like it. bias amp 2 was not for me either. THU interface is my least favourite of them all but they sound like real breathing amps in a room, unbeatable
Same here, TH-U's interface is pants, but the sound you get from it is amazing. For me, TH-U>Mercurial>Neural DSP. All 3 are amazing, just depends on the context.
Tonight I downloaded a neural DSP and helix native plugins for the first time. Then I put on THU and once again that feel is there at the others don’t match. Go figure.
Hi!!! watching from Japan! I'm thinking of buying th-u after watching your video, but I have question. Can I practice by launching this standalone through my audio interface?? great video, thank you!
What is going on? You just pulled up a bunch of TH-U you did yourself and started playing? Are these variations on their settings. Thanks for the elaboration. They do sound good. That bigger guitar sound isn't easily found in plug-ins seems like.
I think TH-U is my fave sim outlay, with Blue Cat Axiom very closely second. The amps are spot on, except that in the parallel universe these sims were derived from, a Twin Reverb has as much gain as a Mesa Triple Rectifier, but meh, not really complaining.
Great video! I see you have really low input into TH-U. You like it that way or someting you missed, because Overloud recommend higher Input to have the sound really work. = )
Sure it could come up in this video there’s just been not much diff to me. I always have to bring the output down regardless so if ur happy with the tone, your happy with the tone. 💥
I find with TH-U that the level it seems to want (according to its input meter) is way too hot. I have to turn the input pretty low on my Apogee interface, or else “clean” presets end up overdriven. Happens with both humbuckers and single coils

I'm in the process of auditioning several such options. So far THU is atop the list also. Thanks for the swell vid.
Good luck!🙌🙏
Have tried everything including the latest Tonex with gazillions of tones..still sticking with TH U
🤘🤘🤘
I have THU and its my go to! I love it. TONEX is also very good, but I always end up coming back to THU!

With heavy distortion it does some growl thingy in the lows that I recognize from micing up real Amps. Very cool

Great video. How does Rig player compares to IK’s Tonex? especially with external IR
I haven’t used Tonex but I’ve used diff IRs like GGD Cali Cabs etc. I always prefer the matched rig capture cabs.
I don’t have Overloud but I purchased the S-Gear by Scuffham. I know you have experienced that at one time. Thanx Andy 🤘🤓
Sgear is great yea I used it for a while.
Thu beats Sgear though it’s been a while since I’ve used my SGear plug-in
One question: is it possible to create the IR of the complete virtual TH-U setup, including pedals, amp and cabinet?
No idea on that one. Maybe with something like a Kemper profiler.
IRs are linear and so they won't capture the non linear aspects of the rig which is a substantial aspect of the tone.

great video, thank you!
Thank you! 🙏 Check the Overloud web site as some of their plug-ins are stand alone but I don’t know if all of them are. Good luck!
TH-U runs standalone.
@@desert_rat_guitar thank you!!❤️

This comment makes the most sense. 😂🤘
Great vid, and great playing
Thanks!
Good insights Agree 💯 percent. Steve from Boston was right, Is that a kiesel?
Kiesel Osiris 🙌🙏💥

Dope
Better than Amplitube or BIAS FX 2 ??? :)
Pass for me on those.
I have overloud and neural
Mmmmm not sure about this ! Actually I would disagree
I’m a Axefx boy so no bias
Word. I’m down with ur disagreement 💥
I use THU and like it but no auto volume pedal/effect is lame. They have volume pedal but not auto.
Auto volume pedal?? Ok 😂
@@alwaysandy_ What I mean is an auto volume swell pedal rock star.
