Delighted to say the talented George is still with us - he turned 79 in October....."If it wasn't for you, there would be no me!" What a beautifully humble phrase!
Ascutado bem
This guy defies reality. I've lost about a third of what I had over the years singing in the clubs. George is as good or better than 50 years ago. A monster.
Dont sell yourself short , he wasnt doing 4hr gigs 3 times a week like us
It's A.I are you blind
@@petermacleod2402 The hell are you talking about?!
@@petermacleod2402: Don't start!! 🙄🤨
@@petermacleod2402E você acha mesmo que um cantor dessa magnitude precisa de IA??
Never heard anyone sound so good in their 70’s, he hit them high notes as well as he did when he was in his 20’s
Very true dear

I’d add Little Richard to the list

Real Music. If there world is still here in 500 years time, they'll still be playing this song.
His voice is so powerful it hasn't even aged since the track was layed down in 1974!!!
Agreed. I hadn't seen this before, and was expecting age to have taken its toll, as it has (understandably) on many singers from that era, and later. Plus he's singing live - there's often a big difference between a track that's come out of the recording studio and a live version of it. So what he does here is fantastic. And well done Jools for bringing it to us.
I remember i was in barcelona spain when i heard him on the juke box great musical soul george mc crae god bless
@@matth1j When the person lives a clean life and keeps his voice in condition, then vocal longevity is realized. Also the falsetto style in which he sings is key in maintaining the range and quality of his great natural tenor voice. Check it Out! Ciao!!!
You never realize how much charisma, and stage presence, many veteran singers from classic recordings had until you actually see them perform live. Always impressive. Great vocals, and great performance. Check it Out! Ciao!!!

The voice is still on point over 40 years later
That's out of it!🔥
All these years later.....and he can still sing it in the original key.
I'm impressed all over the place.
And he looks like he's having a great time, too!
Good for him!!!
Holy shit. I'm 72 and George gotta be my age. He's from Tampa Florida . Saw him in clubs summer of 1974. Who woulda thunk he'd be doing this 45 years later. This actually gave me goose bumps..wow.
He's 76. He was born October 1944
The guy said, "George gotta be his age." I was referring to now, like he was. Not 2018. I don't think he was either. Talking about Nick, that is.
Jajajajajja share your number "sugar daddy"
Sounds like yesterday day.
He still has the voice - Tom Jones and Smokey Robinson in same category
A performer who is proud of pleasing his audience. Spectacular!!!!
You know if you're on the Jules Holland Show, you're a legend! What a great voice even 50 years on from the original hit. This song is a classic, classics never fade! His voice is still so good! Amazing 👏 🙏 ❤❤❤
Brings back fond memories of the summer of '74!!!
God, what a great time to be alive
One of the best live performances! I usually prefer the original recording but this is excellent. Glad to see he still has it!
George certainly can sing
.Sem igual !
BIG FACTS!
I totally agree with you 👍🏻
That’s the beauty of real musicians, they enhance not hide…
This brought me to tears when he gave the song to us. Such a talented artist and beautiful soul.
Did you know that Harry Wayne Casey, of KC and the Sunshine Band, wrote this song for George?! Harry mentions it in an interview.
It's great how he's interacting with his audience.
Was he singing Rock Me Baby to Jose Feliciano at 3:42?
1974 - ist das lang her - mein erstes Schuljahr - und der Song ist heute immer noch ein Hammer und absolut Zeitlos - DANKE George
His voice suit and style is like fine wine never ages

So lucky man
I listened to George Mc Rae singing this song 44 years ago on the radio and he continues with the same timbre of voice. Amazing!
Me too....
I've probably watched this video about 44 times now. Just like Mr McCrae, this doesn't get old!
I have been dancing to his song since a child, it warms my heart!!
REALLY... WONDERFUL..
Agree, he´s amazing
I loved this song in the 70 he has still got it that voice
Oh my god, how good is that, a classic and what a voice he has. Loved what Jules Holland and the band did with this.
great funky version of 2018, George is 75 years old and is still rocking. Who is listening in 2020?

this is old school showing what its all about, rock on George.
Awesome song, love it.
Continua linda essa música como sempre!🤩😘😘😍😍
*@Adian Newman* D*** straight. No one does it like original performers of 70s Soul. Esp George & Gwen McCrae. No tellin' how mant times Ive heard _Let Me Be Your Rockin' Chair,_ but I never knew that was her! ! And shes had a terrific career in Soul music too, all on her own 🤗
WOW!!! simply WOW!!! 🌞
44 years on (at the time) and both George and the song sound as good as ever.
Good on him!
Well I have to say it.... He’s definitely still got it!! 😃
Damm still hits those high notes damm that’s impressive

This song takes me back to my teens I’m know almost 70 yrs young and what a song back then in the day ❤
Graduated High School 1973. 1974 this song came out and really blew my mind. “Rock Your Baby”. Been Rocking since. I’m 69 now and still at.
Legend. All these new gen singers aren't even 1% of these classic artists.
I. Agree the younger generation music is 0

Definitely they try with all their might but still wont get close to legends like George, could listen to this song non stop every single day
Amazing thing was in 1974 no-one took him seriously with his one solitary hit but look at him now.. a class act... Well done George
Awesom🤩
What are you talking about?? George´s music career is much more than one hit wonder - check www.discogs.com/artist/87814-George-McCrae
This other song, for example th-cam.com/video/kBWS3BJSNtQ/w-d-xo.html
KC and the sunshine band wrote this song, and it was probably why he only had this one hit, because he was not a song writer. He is a hell of a singer though.

So grateful and proud to have been given the opportunity to record George in my studio in 2009 ("Time for a change", re-issues of his greatest hits). Such a talented, humble and warm-hearted human being! It was a pleasure to work with him and an unreal experience hearing him sing live over the studio monitors (solo'ed) while seeing him perform behind the studio room window. All the best, George!
I just met George on Eagle Beach 🏝️ in Aruba 🇦🇼 and he sang a brief rendition of Happy Birthday to my Wife Edina! Thank you George! It was a pleasure meeting you and your lovely Wife!
Human beings are rather wonderful when we try.
given the high pitches in this popular song, i was expecting a croaked, faded and jaded voice. the guy is lucky and gifted, true
Uau!!! Perfeito
Unbeliveble 😊The swing is the same!
not from this guy

This performance is absolute gold. Everyone is totally on point, and everyone is having a grand time. Lovely!
This guy deserved a lot more hit songs
Yay, George McCrae! Fab live performance, he's still got those great pipes! Thanks for posting.
Just. Pure. Class.
This was my grandma's favorite song. She had a really difficult life (unfortunately, her alcoholism and mental illness brought quite a lot of hardship during my mother's childhood), but as a grandmother, she was the most wonderful human alive- even with her problems. Her birthday was Valentine's Day. She passed away almost 4 years ago. For so long this song was unlistenable. It was masochistic to listen to. But now I feel nothing but joy from it. Thank you George, for making an old woman happy, and for making me see that we shouldn't concentrate on death and sadness. Life's a garden, dig it.
This song's for you, Patty.
Such a beautiful comment, thank you for sharing

Beautiful sentiment. Those in our life who were troubled could still bring us great joy...this is a testament to them.
What a great performer!
Great sound, great voice, great performance.
What a complete showman! I love how he started off just singing, and then got everybody involved halfway through! And even Jools is looking at him in admiration! Utterly brilliant!

Best enjoyable music clip ever...so much love...
What a feeling; what a joy ...so many years ...and still fresh and ... make me feel alive ... thks 70´s and 80´s for such a lovely music
Damn.. He seems genuine and happy, grateful that people loved and still love this song, still has that smooth and soft bedroom voice, nails the vocals and he is obviously not tired of performing this song.
I love this song brings back good memories. I listen to it every day to relax me 😂❤
This is great. Sent me to bed with a smile on my face.
Hmmmm....well ok then!!

Mas existem boas musicas nas ultimas duas décadas, o problema é que só tem mídia pro que não presta.
