  • Another great little number. Never heard of the group and one thing I love about running this channel is that amount of music we have in the world that we do not often hear. Depeche Mode with Personal Jesus bring to live a unusual track but yet make you want to think about life decisions and faith.

    Dude. Subscribed because of Depeche Mode. They have tons of great songs. And are still releasing albums and selling out stadiums. Their last tour a few years ago, was the 3 largest grossing concert.

    One of THE biggest anthems to come out of the 80's or any other time period. So many have done covers of this, even Johnny Cash, as a Christian song. It was and still is an amazing arena song. All of nuances have been dissected and memorized, it rocked our world when released and never got old. I wore their albums out. What a great time having this as background music being a teenager in the 80's. I wasn't into the hair bands, I was all into British/Euro music. This is one that leaves me at a loss with words to even describe it.

    Glam Blues Rock - my best description of Personal Jesus musical genre. Glittery yet soulful.
    The video director is the famed Anton Corbijn. He liked to film (often Black & White) on 8mm film, which made many DM videos look grainy and old. And classic.
    By the way, Dee-pesh Mode. Been around for 40 years and still going. Always changing, always growing... yet retaining their signature sound through it all. They've always been cutting edge. Check out Barrel of a Gun (1997) next - you won't believe it's the same group.

    It's pronounced "De-pesh"😉
    Released in 1989
    They're in Spain in the video
    Yes, it IS Dave Gahan's natural voice👍
    Depeche Mode were pioneers in synth-pop
    You have one hell of a rabbit hole to explore with Depeche Mode😎
    You'll definitely also want to check out:

    Love Depeche Mode and I agree, this is crisp and I think timeless. They used a lot of electronic instruments (stating the obvious I know), hard to sit still in my opinion, they def make me wanna dance. Yes it was the 80’s!

      @HAP3SPEAKZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for that. So the electric sound they introduced is a common element in their music. Great to know.

    Thank you Hap for the reaction and for your remarks on the quality and value of 80s music. This song was from the Synth-Pop era of DM. It was covered by numerous artists including Johnny Cash and Marilyn Manson but for me it’s only one- DM Forever!

    Great reaction for a great song and band. As soon as one of their songs come on you know its them. They have their own unique sound. They are great live and are still touring today and putting out new music. Standing the test of time. Please consider doing more reactions for DM. Peace J

    This is funny, but back in the 80's I really didn't like much Depeche Mode. They came with a new wave sound that I wasn't crazy for it. That change......because now I think they sound totally awesome!!! Thank you Hap!! I also found a new band!!

For a today's take on speaking truth try this guy "So thankful that Change on the Rise was featured in the new show Resident Alien on SYFY! Greetings to any and all life forms who have found my music from the show 👽 ✌️"m #ResidentAlien " Avi Kaplan Feb 12,2021 sampled on SO1 E03
