Colour coding a nest of cables is brilliant - thank you.

Thanks - I saw the idea in one of Morten Hilmer's videos and adopted it immediately!

Hi Geoff. Not something I have had to worry about or manage too much as I am never out for more than a day but interesting nonetheless. I have also added you to my recommended channels on my TH-cam homepage :)

Hi Joe, yeah, I guess if you’re never too far from a power source the charging kit would just be extra weight you don’t need to carry...
Also, cheers, I’ve not sorted that out on mine but I will and when I do, yours will be there 👍

Great info, Geoff. Funnily enough, I got the exact same solar panel a couple of weeks ago and am attempting to shift over to a completely mains free charging solution for photography. I haven’t got there quite yet - still need to get chargers for the actual camera batteries - but my phone, iPad, GoPro, and a whole host of power hungry widgets are now mains free. I just love the idea that as photographers we can take another step towards helping the environment by doing this and videos like yours are a great way to spread the message! 👍👌😎

Thanks! That’s not an aspect of it that I remembered to discuss in the video, but it’s definitely an important consideration. Being more self sufficient and using solar energy where possible is certainly something we should be doing more of!

Thanks very much and welcome to the channel 😊 The power bank is so useful for camping trips - I don't think I could be without it now!

I'm considering purchasing a solar charging kit, good advice for amateur like me. Your giving Trond westby and Morten Hilmer a run for their money here on TH-cam.

Thanks - glad you found it useful! Well, theirs are two channels that I have followed for a while, and I feel I have a long way to go before being at that level, but comments like this are encouraging that I’m on the right track 😀

Geoff, it's all about getting better mate. I'm an amateur photographer and I'm learning as I go bit by bit. Being outdoors hiking, walking and camping in nature with my son is what matters. Videos such as Morten Hilmers, Trond Westby and yours allow others and I to learn and progress as well as enjoy the content. I like down to earth videos with straight forward explanations. I'm quite happy to sit for hours with just my binoculars, of course I'd like a good photo as well.

Very informative video Geoff, with a good delivery and nice pace. Beats a lot of the other "noisy" videos out there.
FYI I came across your video on Nikonians.org after a member posted on a forum about how to charge batteries in the wild.
    You can see it here:

    Thanks again and happy shooting!

Thanks Frederic, glad you liked the style of the video and good to see that my post on Nikonians brought some viewers to the channel 😀
PS. Sorry I didn't see this / reply sooner - your comment got 'held for review', I guess because of the link!
