    You can charge an R5 at 18w but it needs 9v 3A (27w) delivered to run the R5. So need a PD supply that can give 3A at 9v - a more expensive powerbank than any I'd had before!

    • @forestchaput
      @forestchaput  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmm. It sounds like your power bank and/or dummy battery aren't putting out enough voltage. I believe the voltage of a Canon battery is about 7.2 volts so 5 volts would definitely be too low. I would imaging the issue is with your dummy battery not having a voltage step up system built into it.

    Hey! Would you happen to know whether or not using the official dummy battery & wall adapter from Canon would affect audio at all? I use an external RODE mic on top of my M50 that connects straight into the camera, and I've seen a lot of bad reviews for most dummy batteries where people had audio interference with external mics - but I can't find any info on whether or not that's also an issue with the official dummy battery & adapter from Canon.
    I assume since it's official it should be fine, but the thing's so friggin expensive that I'm trying to find out beforehand 😅

    • @forestchaput

    Hi there, I would really want to thank you for giving your opinions on this video.
    - As a beginner, I wanted unlimited power for my camera because most of the time I will be filming indoors at 4k30, I have the Sony zv-e10 and I know that will die in no time.
    - Thorough my research, I have seen people are mostly okay with 3rd party battery, the worse they can do is fail
    - Like what you mentioned, it's really hectic to record and switch out batteries in the middle of the record, and if you want to do so for a long time, you'll need a lot of batteries, the cost and time to charge the batteries will dramatically increase
    - Therefore, I have looked into dummy battery, the original ones are at crazy price, hence I look at the 3rd parties one. I saw alot of people actually fried their camera using cheaper 3rd party ones because of the wrong voltages or voltage spikes.
    - Hence I did ALOT of research on the 3rd parties dummies but it's just way too overwhelm on how many versions are there in the market. At the end of the day, the 3rd party ones just don't give me the confidence.
    - I initially avoided the usb-c charging method as I have heard from people that continuous charging will hurt the battery's life and cause overheating compare to dummy batteries.
    - I in fact know that my camera actually supports USB-C charging, but I'm not sure will by doing so hurts my original battery.
    Thanks for the video once again

    I remember the _Sunpac_ car battery sized power pack. Ok, they weren't actually the size of a car battery, but after a day of shooting in the field they seemed like it. The Sunpac batteries were roughly the size of four-DVD movie cases and weighed about two pounds. I carried four on a belt, four more in my pack.
    I would shoot fairs and festivals, dirt track races and outer edges of professional sporting events. I tried to be the first there and the last to leave. thirty rolls of thirty-six exposures was a good day of work.
