    "Such beautiful mountains." - Heh, in addition to being a marvelous trilogy of films, it really acts as an effective tourism advertisement for New Zealand, doesn't it? I do highly recommend reading the books after this, by the way. They create a marvelously complex, detailed, and vibrant world with a rich history to explore. The amount of work Professor Tolkien put into makin his creation truly feel alive is astounding.

    Thanks for including the Lay of Luthien scene. Very significant Luthien was an elf princess who saved a mortal man, Beren, from a dungeon and fell in love with him. In doing so, she sacrificed her immortality. Aragorns answer to Frodo, "She died," is loaded with meaning. On the tombstone of JRR Tolkien and his wife Edith are the names Luthien and Beren.

    One of the problems with the Lord of the Rings trilogy is the timing. After Gandalf gives the ring to Frodo it may seem like a short time has passed, but in reality Frodo kept the ring in his house for 20 years. When Frodo sets off on his journey he is 50 years old

    • @TarunpreetKaurGill
      @TarunpreetKaurGill  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @DavidEllis94 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tbf, I don't think the film aims for the same 17 year time skip. Frodo doesn't age, which is appropriate, but we see the other hobbits before and after and they didn't age. I heard--though I've never seen this myself--that PJ claimed he was thinking of a short time skip of maybe a few years, if that.

    Frodo, at least in the books, happens to be fifty years old -- the same age Bilbo was when he went on his adventure in The Hobbit.
    Gandalf, on the other hand, is even far older than he looks. He happens to be an immortal angel and is one of the oldest beings in Tolkien's world. He and the other angels helped Eru Ilúvatar, God if you will, create the universe.
    But do not confuse age with fragility. There is strength in both of them.

    • @TarunpreetKaurGill
      @TarunpreetKaurGill  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @BobBlumenfeld I did not know their age while watching the movie. Also, I didn’t know Gandalf was immortal. My heart sank when Gandalf fell after fighting with Balrog.

    Enjoyed watching the movie with you! It's important to understand that adapting Tolkien's book into a movie involved making a number of drastic changes to the plot. LOTR the book moves very slowly, so the film speeds up the time line drastically to make a more exciting movie. The movie would imply that the time from Bilbo's Birthday Party to Frodo's arrival in Rivendell was a matter of a few weeks or months. In the book, the interval is 17 years! Also, the actors playing the four Hobbits are all in their early to mid-twenties (Elijah Woods was 19 when filming started). In the book, Frodo's friends are in their late 20s to mid-30s, while Frodo is 50 years old (although because he has been carrying the Ring, he has been aging slowly and appears to be about the same age as his friends). This means that Frodo is a generation older than the other hobbits, and so the interpersonal relationships are a bit different in the book. In the book, Samwise Gamgee is Frodo's gardener and is of a lower social class than the other three--Merry and Pippin are the heirs of their respective families and are relatively well to do, as is Frodo. The movie Sam is treated more socially equal than the book Sam (although in both versions Sam grows greatly through the course of the story).

      @johnwalters1341 Thank you so much for taking the time to share that. I’ve not read the books, so I had no idea. I thought Frodo & his friends must all be young & of similar age.
      And yes, everything does seem to happen in a very short time frame in the movie.
      I had a great time watching the movie & I’m so invested in the story now.

    I've watched *many* LotR reaction videos (i.e., I'm an addict), so I'll offer a few suggestions.
    1) You seem to be watching the extended version, which is good, but you should probably include the word "EXTENDED" in the title of your thumbnail. (I often don't bother watching an LotR reaction video if it's not the extended versions.)
    2) As another commenter already predicted, you're likely to get a sudden increase in subs and likes just because there are *many* thousands of LotR fans/nutcases out there. Therefore, try to include a bit more of the film scenes in your videos -- you currently seem to be skipping over too much (important) material, though I do understand the copyright challenges. (Remember that your potential new subs will love seeing more of their favorite film scenes and your facial+vocal reactions to them!) As a rule of thumb, a top class reaction video for films 1 & 2 tends to be around 90mins total (maybe split into 2 or 3 parts). Even longer for the 3rd film. The extra effort you put into editing your reactions for these films will be worth it. 🙂

    I'm glad that you're enjoying it so far. When you use only one earbud are you losing out on half of the stereo audio? Also, if you were planning on sticking with the reactor thing and trying to cultivate a larger audience, I would advise against keeping that window uncovered. If some nut wanted to figure out where you lived it is providing a lot of clues.

      Hi @WhatHaveIMade When I use one Airpod, I get mono output so I don't miss out on audio. It is definitely a more immersive experience with both Airpods but because I have to talk along, I use just the one. When I absolutely want to get lost in the movie and I don't have to talk at all, I use both.
      Thank you for talking about the window thing. I keep it that way because I like the view when the weather is good & wanted to share it. I'm planning to be a full time TH-camr in the future. Hopefully, I'll set up a nice studio & shoot the videos there.

      Hi @lazaruslong8092 Thank you!
      Thanks for the recommendations too. I think I might have watched The Fifth Element a very long time ago, I don’t remember anything except Milla Jovovich though. I’ll add these movies to my list. 😊

      @tommyzakrisson1605 I did not know that when I watched the movie. He looked so young. Now, I know the ring kept him looking youthful. 😊

    You don't need to cut it so much, It's really annoying, leave it running to the end of a sentance before you cut it at keast :)

      @buidseach I totally understand your point but I have to keep the clips very short to avoid copyright issues. I’ll try to keep them a little longer the next time & see if it works. 😊
