I just did the lands end 100 last weekend basically, follows the coast line from Marazion to Lands end, up to Portreath then across the peninsula to St Ruan it’s a stunning place to cycle and yes super hilly. The route through Sennen up the B3306 through Morvah was breathtaking. The steepest hill was definitely heading out of Mousehole another quintessential Cornish fishing village. Great video Andy glad to see you getting your mojo back 🙂
Chapeau Andy, great ride and great video. Good vibes as you seemed to enjoy that. A fellow cyclist once said to me "chase the miles not the speed you will enjoy it more" thats the feeling I got watching your video 😁 well done 👏👏👏🚴♂️😎👍
Great video, amazed to see the bench outside Winkleigh! Not much in the way of flat roads round here, a lot of my routes are around 100ft per mile of elevation gain.
Hey Andy. Great video, really enjoyed watching that and seeing my local rides on there. Thanks for the mention too 👍🏼. I really think you need to come back to Bude in October for our nutcracker hill climb event 😅. Some of the hills you missed including the 2x 30% but with fresh legs. You have a new follower here. Cheers Leigh - Ride It Cycles
Ahah! Glad you got that cream tea in the end! I was just thinking before you actually said it that this adventure must’ve been good for the soul. Almost needed? I dunno, get the vibes from you that you missed being out there whilst you were recovering - really happy to see you back at it. Love the format btw mate, great watching.
Yeah you’re spot on bud, just as o got over the injury I had several weekends where I was screwed for getting out. I really needed this. Cheers for the feedback too, I wanted to get a bit more off bike footage, inspired by Josh Reid the legend
Always jam first 😉 Having done 150 miles mixed terrain bridleways/lanes , loaded round Kernow I can confirm its brutal hilly but very rewarding riding/scenery. 👍 Safe travels.
Great video Andy. Very cinematic and atmospheric. Dartmoor is definitely one of my favourite places too. Hired a Morgan for me and my wife’s 30th anniversary and drove around the national park. Magical! Just got to muster the energy to ride my bike there next!
Excellent film Andy. Enjoyed the ‘B-roll’ footage and did feel for you having to double up some of those climbs to film them. Suffering for your art 😬. I’m Exeter based and think you missed the Quay and it’s many coffee options…next time. The county (and Cornwall) has many great climbs…I just ride slower and tell myself I’m having fun…which I usually am. 4.31 in the soundtrack was very ‘Good the Bad and the Ugly’ style. Brilliant. Thanks mate.
That was great, Andy! It looked tough in parts, but the trip felt quite relaxed. Loved the passing shots - you were relaxed enough to stop, and set the camera up! Amazing landscapes. Glad to see you finally got your cream tea! Jam then cream...
Nice. Well done Andy- looks amazing if hilly! Watching while in Chard, 8 miles from Axminster. Know it well. Look forward to the next adventure. Your knee seems recovered!
Great video Andy 👍. Cornwall, defo need to take the climbing legs for that place, maybe a spare set 😀. Often been told it’s the hardest part of LEJOG due to the climbs. And Somerset Levels, right on my doorstep, it’s a lovely place but has a downside…. Is great at making us lazy cyclists due to its pan flat nature. Glad you enjoyed your trip, great to see it 😊👍👍
I always stay in Mevagissey for holidays (back in Oct). I normally do two or three short rides, but the hills out of Mevagissey and surroundings are short, sharp and constant. Total difference to East Anglia where I normally ride
Colour me inspired, Andy! Your vids just get better and better. When I do my first ultra I’m going to thank you (and possibly curse you) for the push. Tech question, what bag thingy are you using on your aeros? Keep them coming, Andy and thank you!
awesome video Andy, some nice shots and editing - great to see you going and getting the miles in 'for smiles' rather than pushing yourself racing, but those hills! - good weather for it ...but I still say you are nuts mate!....long way to pedal from Pompey - nice one!
Lots of punches hills , i rode of Isle of Wight all round coastal roades Tuesday not the same distance or evaluation but enjoy it. Hope your over knee troubles
I just sat down with a cuppa after packing my bike for a long weekends bikepacking and the 1st video on my feed was this. Mine’s less strenuous than yours, a loop around Dumfries & Galloway then across to the Borders and while I normally camp this time it’s a hostel & a hotel.
Great stuff mate - saw the ride on Strava and was hoping we’d get brought along for the ride! Love the idea of having a tourist checklist to keep things interesting, reminds me of the “soul ride” concept you shared a while back. How did the knee hold up with all those climbs? Looked gnarly!
That’s a good point mate, I didn’t make that connection actually but did say it was good for the soul :) the knee was a tad tight after actually but other than that was fine
Hey, I have a bar bag with tent inside but it's too heavy and bulky really. I just find the bivvy faster and more convenient for bus shelters etc. I only ever take the tent if I'm riding my MTB
Just a tip. You don't need to point the camera at yourself every time you are speaking. You can give a commentary. We know what you look like. Would prefer to see your surroundings or what ever you are talking about rather than you. "Point the bloody camera at it!!!" Your videos would flow a lot better if you did this.
Thanks for another great video. I'd like to ask about the wheels you use on your bike, I believe they're the DT Swiss ER1600 (?) - are you happy with them overall, and hv they got the son dynamo hub power source to charge lights/gadgets? On another of your videos you mentioned an old wheel set damaged in a pot hole - what wheels were/are they ? If you don't mind me asking. I ride very long distances myself, all day rides frequently. I've got a set of all road/gravel alloy wheels, they're ok, but a little heavy. So I'm thinking of buying a better set - just looking for opinions to help me make a decision on what to go for. Spoilt for choice but prices a little too high for my budget. Hence requires a thorough search. Thank you. 👍🚵♂️
Hey, on my Mason I have the ER1600 with Son28 dynamo. The one that broke was E1800 and that hit a very nasty pot hole while chainganging at 2am so not the smartest idea. I like these wheels b ut I'll probably just try to get a slightly lighter setup for next year. That said, it isn't going to save a lot, this ER1600 is way worth the money and easy to service. I can pull the freehub apart on the road easy if any issues

Good video Andy, recognised a few places, 4 of us bike packed Cornwall for 7 days in August, damn hilly but lovely views 😎
It’s defo worth the effort climbing eh 😁
@@andycultracycling the best holiday memories are always the climbs, not the canal side cycle path days

Agree with you on that mate it was awesome
Good to see you loading up that scone in the Cornish way. Great bike packing. Happy days.
ah I thought that was the Devon way? you can tell I'm not local haha

hey, thanks mate, its a lot better. It felt a little 'tight' after this but only slightly, it was a lot of climbing so happy with that
