Diamond Peak Summit, Oregon

  • In this video I show the process of summiting Diamond Peak. This is an 8700ft peak with roughly a 12 mile round trip. The best time to go is in the Fall when there is little snow coverage. This is an easier mountain to summit with only a tiny bit of scrambling at the top. I think this is very similar to South Sister in difficulty, other than the final ridge. The video was recorded in late October 2019. Drones are not allowed in wilderness, I flew mine above my car where it is allowed.

Loved this video super informative. Bummer that there is no drones allowed, the ridge walk would have been epic. Also, i already said this before but i love your music choice. Breath of the wild is my favorite game of all time. The sound track is super fitting for such an awesome video.

@@OregonMikeH And F you too for being an ass*. Drones aren't allowed in the wilderness for a reason. They disturb other people, disturb wildlife, and if they crash, can pollute toxic battery chemicals into the ground. I'll gladly report anyone to the USFS for violating wilderness regulations, which are in place to preserve the wilderness experience for other wilderness hikers and explorers. Do that, and I wouldn't be surprised if other hikers tell you to bring that drone down into your face. If you fly it in a wilderness disturbing others' experience, you are a real ass*.

My knees began to hurt watching final ridge ascent and
I've found downhill hiking is not much easier. Summits do
not interest me. I'd walk up for cave discovery. Below any
high rock collapse zone talus caves may exist. Also keep
an eye open for lava tubes or other cave discovery hopes.
Best done to escape summer heat and maybe find water.
