The successor to the cars that taught me to judge the book and not the cover. Huge amount of love and appreciation I have for this as well as the G80 and now-departed Kia K900 for how influential they were in my budding automotive enthusiasm.

Genesis' lineup is genuinely very impressive and the G90 is a cherry on top. If I lived in NA and was looking for a luxury limo like an A8, S class or 7 series, that would be a proper contender, not to mention tens if not over a hundred k USD saved. Wheels on the G90 you've shown are wild, very impressive looks all around.
Some would ask why people spend over $50k on an “unreliable” and “catching on fire” Korean car.
This blows that all out of the water.
I really dig Genesis. I was really impressed with the Genesis G80 back when it was a Hyundai - I had one as a rental car, and boy howdy was that a nice thing to putter around in for a weekend. Too bad the 5.0 is gone; it was fantastic.

Genesis continues to step their game up. Still iffy about it, but can’t deny that.
I drove a 2018 G90 and had the same questions you did beforehand and that car rapidly dispelled my hesitation. It was an eyeopening shot at Bmw and Mercedes… a truly excellent highway cruiser at a price far below what youed expect for what it offered. Didnt take long for me to be a fan.

This is a great review of a very unusual car. The looks are very distinct and very nice in most aspects, and the interior really looks classy. It can be a good alternative for a Mercedes-Benz, but it doesn't look like it is that refined. The buttons in the centre console and the indicator stalks look like those in my Hyundai Ioniq 5, maybe they are the same. That is good quality, but not as good as a luxury Mercedes-Benz E-class or S class. And I really don't like the noise level, the V6 does not sound great.
Of course, the car has plenty of luxury features for a decent price. This will be a great option if you want something different than the default Mercedes or BMW, and if you want style and luxury over quality level and feel.

Genesis makes some really beautiful looking cars, the level of quality is very impressive. This is the type of car that must make Mercedes Benz and BMW upset. You have to wonder what they could do if they decided to make a true 2 door sports car, the way that Honda/Acura made the NSX.

The wild thing is, I bet Genesis will hold a better value than any BMW or Mercedes and last MUCH longer.
strangly the long wheel base version is less comfortable than the standard version . its heavier and more viscous . strangly when crusing in 80 kmh , the noise in c pillar will be much more noiser than its components. however i like the way its suspension dealling with the bumpiness.
Just for the record... you only have to push in the button on the door to close it... not hold it in.
If you don't care about drivetrain at all, there's no reason to get an S-Class over this. If you do care about drivetrain, you would never get this over an S-Class. Hopefully the EV version is near, that's really where these cars will shine.

A friend had a Genesis about 8 years ago. It was a car he got because it had depreciated A LOT. That Genesis was a nice comfy cruiser.
If I were someone with lots of money wanting an executive car and driver? This Genesis would be a solid pick. It's a luxo barge and I heard 5000+ lbs. But this G90 has spirited acceleration. The cabin shuts out most of the outside world and is its own apartment. Wow.

It just kills me no matter how beautifully luxurious the car is. The reviewer tends to always equate its worthiness buy a lead foot moment. Seemingly, indifferent to being encapsulated in royal plush luxury.

Funny how a Korean manufacturer does traditional luxury than the rest at present. Too many luxury cars that are trying to be sporty exist. Sometimes I just want to waft.
And the Genesis is better looking than the Rolls Royce inside and out, and it’s probably at least 300k less expensive!

If you’re the person/mechanic to change your own it’ll be an issue otherwise I seriously doubt the owners would do their own maintenance. So I bet the book says it’s a 2hr job 😂

@@NXT_LVL I am a lube tech at a Hyundai/Genesis dealer. We've only had a few of the new G90s in but it really is ridiculous and the service instructions give you nothing other than showing the location on an engine not installed in a car.
Absolutely incredible interior though, very impressive
When i saw that huge hood, i was thinking "Sweet. Easy access to the engine." I was wrong. My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
People who buy new cars in this price range and class don`t dive in their engine bays. Also it probably has a "service/upright position"

@@user-cw2tw1um8i I know this, but this wasn't seen from an owners perspective, but more from the perspective of the guy who has to work on it. Other than that, it wasn't the hood itself, but the overload of plastic sitting around the engine bay making the hole around the engine hatchback sized at best unless you spend time removing it all.
@@27Zangle Something like this yeah, or the guy at the workshop who's going to end up working on one of these if and when it needs something major done. The upside i guess is it comes with its own table next to the engine for putting down your tools lol
@@supersimon126 Ah, yes the guy at the workshop. Understandable, but since it is new and a Genesis, that means it will go to the dealer where they have what is needed to work on these. Though, I am sure nothing makes working on newer cars easy anymore.

Seriously, press and release the door buttons, and it will close. No need to hold the buttons. Also, press and release the button on the door, the will unlatch, then you have to use an arm muscle to open it the rest of the way. There is no weird feeling that you are pushing the door to close it. You are a "car guy"? SMH.
Car looks good but that transmission is just awful.
Imagine spending $100k for a supposed luxury car only to get it serviced by a Hyundai dealership 😂. This thing cost more than a S Class Mercedes as well as the Lexus LS and depreciation is far worse.
This definitely gives F off energy, I dig it. I’ve never driven any of these ultra luxury sedans, but I think I’d still pay more and get an Audi A8. But I’m a brand whore
