      @@breckdiy1981 quick question, I live in apartments and my drain plug got stuck so I tried to lift it and it snapped off. I took it off and found out that the cross inside the drain broke into small pieces. How should I go about this?

    • @breckdiy1981
      @breckdiy1981  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s pretty simple to take the whole piece out where the T is. Take a long handled pliers and stick the rubber handles into the whole to use as a wrench basically.
      Your gonna need to twist the whole thing out and replace it. I believe Amazon should have a replacement.

    Seems like pop ups are more trouble than they are worth, just use a regular rubber plug?

    Mine looks exactly like this, but will not unscrew! It gets to a stopping point after turning it counterclockwise and I'm scared of busting it. Any recommendarions?

    knob seems to be rusted to the cap part on mine. hard water. These things are a pain. can't get wrench underneath because clearence. will the whole thing just unscrew from the tub or does plug have to be removed first?

    • @breckdiy1981
      @breckdiy1981  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I missed your question, the whole thing will unscrew but it’s easier to get tools inside to undo the core piece.

      @@breckdiy1981 turns out mine was rusted right into the crossbar. I ended up breaking the crossbar and just put a flick it plug into the drain.

      Yikes sorry to hear that, that does not sound like fun. 😳

    • @AuronFFX

      @@breckdiy1981 it wasn't. The tub has a cast iron drain with no cleanout that's how old it is. I needed to remove the plug because the drain was clogged with hair. I think the Previous owners put liquid plumber down it rather than removing the plug. The stem rusted to the crossbar as a result.

      We’re you trying to hold it underneath the cap to unscrew?
      You can also use a wrench to hold it, I think it’s a a 1//2 inch wrench.

    • @breckdiy1981
      @breckdiy1981  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you get it out?
      You can also try a handle side down of an adjustable wrench and place a screw driver between the handles to try and get enough leverage to unscrew the drain.
      hope this helps.

    No screw. Can only push it down a little to the left but doesn’t pop up.

    • @breckdiy1981
      @breckdiy1981  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it’s in the up position and you just turn to the left to unscrew multiple times will it come out? There are some different style that don’t need to drop down to unscrew

      There are a couple things you can do, either use a wrench to hold the post in position. I believe it’s a half inch wrench and then use either adjustable wrench to grab the Circular top or vice grip

    When you turn something in a circle, which way is right and which way is left?! 😱 You should say “clockwise” or “counterclockwise”. 😂

    Simply bad design on them. This is something a midwife could handle but no! Need a project manager, along with the MaxTools truck driving by every hour. 😅

      I feel Watco did it way better than a lot of other brands that make the pop/pull up drain stoppers, I’m not a professional plumber but watched 5 or 6 other videos before finding this one which is the same drain I have and is way easier, granted mine is only a year or so old, only time will tell as far as longevity goes! Just my 2 cents.
