Thank you! Followed your video exactly and saved $450 in labor at the Ford dealership. I also clipped the mirror in my garage but was fortunate to not break the white molding and could re-use that part, as you did, instead of ordering the assembly and having Ford paint the molding to match.
Excellent video! I cracked mine backing into the garage. Body shop wanted almost $1000 to fix. Found the PN with a simple google search, then took PN and found it on Amazon. It probably took me about 10 minutes to do the whole replacement. I couldn't have done it without this video tho! Thanks again...
Great job. Alternative to using a magnet to "grab" the lower attach nut when swapping the mirror assembly onto/off the door frame - small rag stuffed into the opening between the metal frame and the door trim.
Do you know if the 2015 is the same? My wife hit a pole and removed the mirror. I'm trying to find a replacement mirror and just install it. I am having trouble tracking one down though. Awesome post! Very informative!
Does Ford sell a replacement bezel or do you have to buy the whole mirror assembly? My wife cracked the bezel on her Explorer backing out of the driveway. I may try to epoxy it back since it's mostly intact.
Arnold D - I had this happen to my Ford Fusion. Unfortunately, it appears that the whole mirror housing assembly has to be purchased to get the bezel. Is there an ecology near you? Maybe try there first & see of you can hunt out out to disassemble?

Jason Skaria literally in the same boat. Paying the same in labor for the actual part is ridiculous. This video just saved me a LOT of $$$.

Very helpful and that tape trick saved me a few times. Also the magnet on the bottom bolt was awesome. I would have failed that step without it.

I actually went to the dealer and the mirror was salvageable, just had to buy the ball inside which was a lot cheaper.

How do you remove the glass?
The glass popped off when I hit it. If you cracked your glass only, I think you need to replace the whole side view mirror assy
