My favorite bit about that scene with Modi when Kratos goes into Spartan Rage is that despite taking Modi's mace, he drops it to use his FIST instead bro
of all long running game franchises the fans of God of War impress me most. very rarely does someone spoil something and somehow I have yet to see anyone reveal the return of his blades. it's always satisfying watching that entire sequence from Kratos saying he needs to return home up until the combat with them.
Finding someone who played the OG games before this on and GET IT is rare nowadays. Thanks for sharing your reaction it really made me relive this amazing gaming moment all over again.
You know what is, I’m sure, the _worst_ part, to Kratos, of picking up those Blades again? How _good_ it must feel. I imagine it just like when Harry repaired his own wand at the end of Deathly Hallows. How wand and hand both felt like they were tingling with joy at being reunited. Imagine that here. To sink his godly power into the Blades so intertwined with him, to feel life return to them from himself as their flames flair up for the first time in so long…seeing the way he runs his fingers along them before putting them on, the way his hands shake…I’m sure it just feel incredible, physically. And I can’t imagine how much worse that makes it.
I do feel bad for those who started the GoW games with the 2018 game; they can try to imagine the emotional weight of the boat scene, but never understand it totally. (And even if they started to play the older games after this one, you can have just one first time reaction to that scene.) I'm so glad you got to feel it at its fullest.
"This is like a FromSoft boss" is spot on, you have to die a few times to learn her attack patterns and how to dodge/parry/block. The fact that it took a valkyrie to force you to learn to lock on and parry, on GMAC, is completely insane. Good job getting her on the 8th try though, those things are stupid difficult. That said, I cant wait till you find out she's the easy one 😉
I cant imagine playing this game if i hadnt played the ogs, imagine getting the blades and being all 'ok cool new weapon i guess, lets move on' hells naw lmao

Dude. Seeing your excitement as he mentioned needing to dig up his past was GOLD. I’ve seen this game and played it so many times… this has been one of the best playthroughs Mati because you also played through the OG 3
This was my first god of war. Honestly, I regret not playing the first 3 first. I had played with my friend who was a huge fan and witnessing his reaction made me understand the greatness of it.
At 52:44, I had exactly that reaction. I was like "Nooo way! Kratos is gonna bring back his blades?!" At the start, it really felt like something was missing and no longer 100% felt like a GoW game. Only 50% because we got Kratos, but no Blades of Chaos. But once he dug up the blades, this game felt 100% GoW. This gave me the chills too.
Can we talk about how scared Kratos is? Like, he is obviously scared of going back to his old self, by using the blades. But the way he is heavy breathing while holding Atreus, waiting for the elevator to get to Freya house. The man is terrified.
You finally got good I'm so proud of you child... Just remember don't let it get in your head too much some of the Valkyries are waaaayyy tougher than others so leave them for later "maybe one per episode could be interesting" and yea do them all they are worth doing cause they hide a secret boss that is one of the best I have ever fought

I am so clueless about the God of War lore when I played this game last month. I thought God of War (201) is the first one and when I was playing the game, I thought it's one of those games that puts you in the middle of the world without explaining itself and will just let you fill in the blanks yourself. Then I watched blind playthroughs and realized there's an entire trilogy of games and more before this one. It makes perfect sense. Although playing God of War (2018) clueless is still a fun experience. An amazing feat given how media nowadays bait people with nostalgia rather than good content.
52:42 YAAAA BOIIIII. This game does a great job reinventing the wheel and giving you the axe and RIGHT when you commit your heart to the axe being the new main weapon, this 😙👌
Like many of us here, I have been waiting for this moment ever since I first learned you were doing God of War. That sequence from Tyr's Temple to Kratos saying "I am your monster no longer" is absolute PEAK, and I don't imagine it could hit anywhere near as hard if you weren't the legend that you are having done the original trilogy first. This game is freaking incredible, and how they introduced the blades puts it right up there at the very, very top of gaming with some FromSoftware titles, the Baldur's Gate trilogy and Grand Theft Auto. These four would be on my Mt. Rushmore of games.
Blades of Chaos were created by and powered by primordial fire. Power that exceeds all gods in time. The fire was pemanently attached to Kratos together with the blades and that is why he can not get rid of them like the other blades like say Exile. He lost all of his weapons at the end of GOW 3 when he killed all the gods and released their power alongside power of hope to the world. The weapons were destroyed as they were powered by those godly powers from Olympians that Kratos absorbed. Except for Blades of Chaos. They outdate even the gods and are channeling power from primordial fire of the universe. The blades being attached to him is like another bodypart that he cant get rid of. Whatever he does with them, they will come back to him.

The Leviathan Axe will have runics named after Norse Gods and the Blades named after the Greek Gods. You'll be familiar with the Blades and its runic attacks because a LOT of moves from the older games are incorporated into the baldes through runic attacks. I'm all for it if you want to 100% this game and upload that journey as it'll be cool to see you get all the moves for the Blades and I'm not sure if you'd like to do that while the story is the main focus, so episodes after the story is completed focusing on 100% would be awesome

fun fact during the scene where kratos is touching his arms and said “I know but i am your monster no longer” Christopher judge in the BTS can be seen almost crying ! 10/10 acting
We are so back!!! This is the episode I’ve been waiting for, I was so excited to see your reaction to the blades! Kratos’ response to the spirit of Athena is a great showing of character growth.
Been waiting for this since I started watching your GOW1 gameplay. A few years back I completed the game and my best friend was playing it. One day I asked him where in the sotory he was. He told me "I dunno, boy got ill and I left it right before going to Freya." so I forced him to go to his house and play in front of me, so I could see his reaction. It's just so amazing whatching people react to this moment. The game is pretty good until that point, then this happens and becomes the masterpiece it is. There're not many moments in games that have caused me the feeling this part caused me when I played it. Many people say this is fan service, and it might, but fan service is not always bad. When they do it right, and in a way that it makes sense in the story, and not just throwing cameos and shit for no reason, then it becomes a great thing.

Keep it up my friend.
So the Valkyries begin honestly the best part of the game for me a good old fashioned 1v1 boss fight really forces you to use everything you have to defeat her as well.
Pro tip - make sure you pay attention to the move sets itll help you in the long run trust me 😆
Yeah let's go!!✨️🗿
THANK YOU for changing the armour, looks way better. Style > Stats.
fun fact during the scene where kratos is touching his arms and said “I know but i am your monster no longer” Christopher judge in the BTS can be seen almost crying !
When they do it right, and in a way that it makes sense in the story, and not just throwing cameos and shit for no reason, then it becomes a great thing.
the story of this game is, quite literally, in one word, peak
W intro, w headband, w mati❤
