One Artist for you to React to: TOMMY BOLIN. (Tommy, sadly passed away
in 1976, at the Very Early Age of 25. Just as he was on the verge of
becoming Big. Stupidly, He OD'ed!! :( :( I was 17, he was My 1st Guitar
Hero, and My Entire World was Rocked Hard for A Long While. Check Out:
My Favorite: "Wild Dogs" and "Dreamer" both off of his 1st solo CD
"Teaser". Also, "Post Toastee" from his 2nd/last solo album: "Private
Eyes". IF you are Into/Like Great Dynamics, then "Dreamer" is a song for
you. From sparse, mellow and pretty to Rocking Out in a beat.
Then-Boom- Right back to sweet and mellow. On "Post Toastee" Everyone in
the band gets to Show Off A Little! :) I would suggest the studio
      versions/audio of all 3.

I worked stagefront security for a Raven/Wasp/Slayer ticket in 1987 and it was insanely intense. The pit was a swirling mass of bodies piled high on top of each other. Hell, most of the entire lower deck (two-story theater) was pit. It was mayhem.

Took a friend to his first rock concert in 1991. It was Testament and Slayer. A guy came walking out of one of the three mosh pits, holding his right arm up with his left hand. Unfortunately, his arm was hanging sideways at a place where there is no joint. My buddy's face drained of color, and I couldn't decide if he was going to barf or pass out.

Slayer has such fantastic lyrics, it’s a horror story with music. Had a girl in high school say that this music is satanic but you don’t see people calling horror movies satanic. It’s the same thing in a different medium.

This is the thing about hard metal stuff like this! You hear those screaming guitars, fast tempos, and grisly lyrics, and then you look at the band. People think man, they must be a right bunch of evil bastards, but hold your horses people! Bass player, and vocalist Tom Araya is one of the nicest, chilled out guy you could imagine. I say this because so many of these guys/bands get a bad rap outside of the metal industry! Books and covers to the ignorant minded out there. I'm not even a massive metal fan, although i know what i like, but i just had to get it off my chest! 🤘

The first time I ever saw Slayer was in 1996 at the Trocadero in philadelphia. They opened the show with this song and the crowd was so loud in the intro we drowned out the band.
One of the top 5 shows I ever went to.

Glad you're reacting to Slayer again! And you are absolutely right, Slayer needs to be listened to at the very least a moderate volume. It actually sounds terrible when you listen to it low. The right parts of the music don't come through unless it's loud enough.

As for myself.. this (and other songs in this genre) is/are actually background music for me while I am at work. 16 gigs of .mp3's to choose from all night.. just throw on an album and I am good for 30-120 minutes depending on the album. Everything from AC/DC to ZZ Top.. Slayer to Creed.. Ghost to Iron Maiden. All night long ;)
