I had a similar experience though it was more about he fact that I had carved a slayer logo into my arm. You can still make out a tiny bit of the s but the rest healed over completely. They were fine with the music though mostly. It was a perfect copy of the logo though and I started doing originals years later for other metal bands. Back in the 80's the guys in Anthrax described Slayer as "if Hell had a soundtrack, it would sound like a Slayer song". That's such a spot-on description of their music... it's as much atmospheric as it is speed metal (if that makes any sense).

I was at an Anthrax / Megadeath / Slayer concert. Outdoor arena amusement park. Beer on sale. State Troopers on rooftops with rifles. Got patted down by police 4 times walking from parking lot into the park. Fenced in seating area with lawn seats outside. Most of the seats up front were empty as they were Anthrax fans busy getting beer. Slayer was up first and by the second song the fence came down and the seats were swarmed. Those with tickets up front that weren't in their seats were screwed and never got their seats back for the rest of the show. VIP pass or not. Slayer actually stopped between songs and asked the fans not to impale themselves on the fence. Beyond the fence was a cloud of dust and hair and feet in a massive mosh pit. My ears rang for 3 days straight. What a blast of a show! The park stopped having metal concerts after this event.

Just found your channel - this is the first reaction I'm watching and I love it. Watching people get their first taste of Slayer, especially on this song or Angel of Death, is so satisfying because it's usually the same "What the hell? How?!?!?!?" that us original metalheads went through. As for the drummer, "How many hands does he have", lol. As others have said, he is a beast. A friend of mine who is a fantastic drummer, just recently told me that when his cover band was going to play Slayer, he would have to up his cardio exercise for about 2 weeks before they were going to play Slayer tunes.
I look forward to watching more of your videos dude.

The "demons knocking" is the kick drum. The very busy drumming is due to a double kick drum (one for each leg). And lastly, Dave Lombardo is just an amazing drummer who left Slayer to work on more creative projects with Mike Patton of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. This song requires some context.
The song refers to an angel being sent to hell from heaven and is built on vengeance to return and battle, quote; "He want's to fuck that place up". This was the album closer for Reign In Blood, of which is a play on words with the song title, hence why the ending was so long compared to the full song. It's actually the second part of a two-song medley that begins with Postmortem and bleeds into Raining Blood (No pun intended).
Slayer were known for their short songs in the early days. The longest song on Reign In Blood is Angel Of Death at 4:50. They explained it saying that they played the same amount of music and transitions from verse to chorus as any other band, but they just do it faster.

On the drums is Mr Dave Lombardo. He’s a straight up mad man on the kit.

The drummer is Dave Lombardo. One of the best on earth! Even Neil apart called him the hardest working drummers in rock!

That drummer is the great Dave Lombardo, the best drummer to ever play with a thrash metal band. Period. If you want to hear some of his best stuff, check out some songs from his last album with Slayer...World Painted Blood. The new sound equipment captures his drums so well. I recommend the songs "World Painted Blood", "Hate Worldwide", or "Playing With Dolls".

Dave Lombardo basically created a drumming style with this band. Nobody sounded like him. If you listen to his other band Grip inc., You can see how much his style of drumming influenced the sound of Slayer. No denying this bad ass. I got to see this concert at a small venue here in Detroit back in 86, and it was awesome!
