Make A Pen Press

- I made a pen press using a Horizontal toggle clamp and some scrap material I had laying around the shop. The pen press works great and is a lot easier to use than a pistol grip clamp.

Nice job. You have inspired me. I'm making one of these. Thank you.
That’s so cool! Thanks! Making one today!
BRILLIANT
Very slick
+mmanut Thanks for checking it out
What turning tool is that you began using right after you seated the ferrule down to shape the handle?? Very nice piece sir!!
+Don Davis thanks Don, that was a roughing gouge I used to shape the handle.
How do I get the plans
That's awsome! New sub here.
Thanks man👊
Hi, what's the name of the red cable? thank you
+Ronaldo Mazzini if you are referencing the clamp, it is called a horizontal push/pull clamp. there is a link in the description of the video
Nice pen press DIY! Looks like it works very well.
Very informative video. I purchased your plans and really enjoyed making the press. Works very well. Many thanks and keep up the good work. Cheers Dave.
That's great to hear Dave, Thank you very much for the support. I am glad you like it
GOOD AFTERNOON SR , THAT'S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PEN PRESS HAVE EVER SEEN.
I just thought I'd mention I bought the plans and made this press. Mine's not quite so pretty because it's made out of 18mm plywood, but it works great.
I still need to turn a handle though, haven't done this yet and the little one on the clamp doesn't give enough leverage for fine control on tighter fits.
Hi, What a brilliant device, just made it out of scrap wood, works a treat, many thanks
I must admit I am not very interested in making pens but am really glad I watched your video!. Very fine work making this press. As always your attention to detail and craftsmanship is enjoyable as always. Thanks again for your video!
Brilliant video just getting into turning and starting with pens!! This will save me a few ££’s thanks!!!
That is also me
Great press. I’ve been using a vice. I’m now in the process of making your design. Well done . Thank you.
Great job!
Just press them together in the lathe, far more accurate,
Having done it both ways, I humbly disagree but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Great idea
That's the nicest pen press I've seen. Awesome job
+Thom spillane Thank you very much
Nice job. I think i will build me one. I want to start turning pens.

Awesome pen press Moy! Nice to see you back!
+woodworker 631 Thanks guys, it's good to be back
How much do you charge for the pen press!
Brilliant! simple home made jig that in my opinion is much better than the overpriced professional Pen Press!
Great set of Plans, colour coded too ! Makes it very easy !
Many thanks
Thank you so much Al, I really appreciate the support.
Sir,
That's an impressive pen press. Have you considered the possibility of getting it patented? It looks and functions a lot better than the ones that are currently available commercially. Just one man's opinion.😉
+Eltee954 Thank you for the kind comment.
First... great to see a new video!
Second...love to see a great new homemade jig!
Third... I love the custom handle, it makes such a difference when you see plain cheap stuff on tools and then you spend a few minutes and make it so much better, it's why I love Woodworking! I just got my lathe and plan on making all sorts of new handles! In fact I think I will head to my shop right now!!!!
+Daniel Smail Thanks Daniel, I agree. The handle really made a big difference. I'm glad I did it, now get out there and make something awesome!
that turned out to be a really nice looking press. Keep up the good work Moy!
+Opa's Workshop Thank you Opa

+KSFWG ha ha no way, I'm giving up buddy. Life has kicked my butt the last few months. Making videos was place on the back burner but I'm coming around slowly
Very nice Moy. Especially like the handle you took time to make. Keep the videos coming!

+Roland Kuhn Wow! thanks for the great comment Roland
This looks cool, especially as I am about to embark on pen turning, but unfortunately the link to your plans appears to have been hijacked by one of those fake "win an iphone" pages.
Thank you, I just checked the link and everything seems to be working fine.
@@moyperezwoodshop1722 Not long after I posted that message I managed to get through by going to your home page, and then linking from there, and bought your plans (the clamp arrived today, thank you Amazon, just need to get the other materials together). The direct link from here works fine now too, but I was definitely getting redirected yesterday, guess I'd better run a malware checker!
@@numberkruncherr Yes sir definitely check for malware. Thank you very much for purchasing the plans, I really appreciate the support.
Nice to see you back.
Barry (ENG)

+Spider F5 Thanks man! I appreciate it
The design is a copy of the Milescraft press it looks like.
How did you connect the HDPE to the toggle clamp?
+fiberinspector I heated the bolt and melted the HDPE. Once melted I folded the HDPE around the bolt. I have detailed video on how I did it, if interested th-cam.com/video/rRwTTHVMWFw/w-d-xo.html
thanks, I could not find any glue or epoxy that would work, I know there are some HDPE glues but not in my area.
Just beautiful! Subscribed!
+Doc Wade thanks Doc
