Great video Richard. Ostrich is a wonderful meat i had ostrich sliched thin on a sandwhich with chips.. Hope whatever family matter you had to attend to is better as always family first. Cheers.
Who cares indeed…! 😉 That looked fabulous - definitely missed your gastro-bush gourmet style - more please! (Ps I suddenly have the most enormous Outhaus swag envy…!) 😜 Hope the family issue resolved positively 😬
Thanks for the video, Richard. There's no need to apologise. Family comes first. Looked a good meal. I must give ostrich a go. I boiled and sliced beef hearts yesterday. I've just air fryed the heart strips, and I'm having them with mushrooms, spinach, and egg noodles. Thankfully, or my stomach would be rumbling watching this. Thanks again.
Ahhh! Nice to see you!!! I so admire those of you who continue to slug it out in the cold weather and keep making content. But it's also totally understandable for those who take a break. Full time jobs and other "life" gets in the way. Thanks for sharing your little adventure with us! Stay safe and healthy!
It’s a double thumbs up from us, Mr O 👍🏻👍🏻 … those ostrich steaks looked fab! We’ve had ostrich burgers before and will definitely give the steaks a try. It was lovely to see you on video again… we’ll be heading to Tesco tomorrow to try some of that gravy! Who knew? S&D xx
Richard, we're glad to see you again. Sorry your overnighter didn't go as planned, we hope everything is alright with your family. See you on the next video. Your friends from Arizona.
Welcome back to the "wild". I prepare food at home, vacuum seal it, freeze and reheat when I get out in the bush. Is it possible to cook the ostrich steaks by immersing the bag in boiling water? You could steam the spinach on top and then use the water for your spuds, a one pot wonder meal. Just a thought. Curries and rice, in separate bags, stews, osso buco, lamb shanks, served with pre-cooked mash, separate bags of course. I've prepared other root vegetables but nothing delicate like spinach. I generally do 10 meals at a time, keep in the freezer until ready to go. Heavier than dehydrated foods but they all "cook" in the same water and clean up is a breeze. Might try gravy next.
Yes. All that is possible. Regarding the ostrich steaks: they are cooked already (see Sous Vide Technique) and just needed the charring/heating through. I think ‘boil in the bag’ would leave a lot to be desired - so much flavour added with a gentle fry. Also, I try to avoid single use plastics whenever possible.
@@RichardOutdoors Been thinking about what you said. I'm with you on single use plastics and will avoid them when I can, the vacuum sealed bags can be washed and used repeatedly until they become too small. I think your potato came in a single use plastic bag and the gravy can would have a plastic lining. It would be interesting to work out the net "global warming effect" for both methods. The missing "sear"? I wonder if a seared steak (et al) could be frozen, reheated and retain the full "sear" (maillard) taste and texture?
Family matter or just didn’t want us to see you retire to your nice warm 5* Hotel room. 🤣🤣 Great to see you back out again. Family always come first. Take and look forward to your next video.😎🇬🇧
Really good video Richard as always the Ostrich looked lovely sorry you had to cut your outing short I hope things are OK withe your family Take Care❤Subscriber
Potts gravy... Are you doing a colab with Atomic Shrimp? He just did their curry sauce (ina drinks can) on his "weird stuff in a can" series! I've never heard of the brand before, and that's twice in one evening.
Ostrich steak sounds exciting, but what got me was the gravy in a soda can. That's a stroke of genius. Good to see you back outside!
Nice video! Food looks delicious! Hope you and family are ok! Thanks Richard!
Yes, thank you

You and me both!
the name for that stuff is excelsior - which connotes upwardness, higher, onward in an uppish direction...a word seldom heard.
The tinder material?
yes

Rather like "connotes", one might say. Finally, someone else who speaks English. Thank you.

Un’canny’!
Most youtube campers make a show of drinking cans of beer. "For mash, get Smashed".
Yay,First
Your brother not showing up simply lends for credence to the theory that Simon BitW is your brother.
Hope everything was OK
Aye. Just needed to be in. Thanks for asking.
