Johan, it was a pleasure watching you restore this Dinky Toy. The casting was in very nice shape, and leant itself to a wonderful outcome. Flaws in the castings of lesser priced models frustrate smooth finished projects. This one was really good! Beautiful job! ❤❤ Best, Stephen
Sweet little model that, with what appeared to be a handy interior tub that would lend itself well to other models. I liked the chunkier tyres, too. Nice result!
Greetings from Canada, Johan. You did a really nice restoration on the Renault 8. I first learned to drive a standard transmission in a 1970 Renault 10. They were well-built cars back then.
Thanks! 🙂As a matter of fact the R10 was our family car back in the late 70ies and 80ies. I remember that it came with an automatic gearbox and that my dad struggled a lot with the mechanical push-buttons, which was not very safe, so in the end he had a manual stick shift installed at the garage.
What a fantastic result! You have really captured the original look of this model, Johan! The difference is the time and effort and passion in what you do. Stunning! First like - I can’t believe I was here this early!

Thanks, Stephen! 🙂 Dinky's are always nice to work on.

Thanks, Martin! Yes, that interior comes nowhere near the interior of the R8. I guess they skimped on that because the car had no opening doors.
Superb restoration Johan looks great in its new blue paint
Thanks, Martin! 🙂 Glad I could find a colour this close to the original in a rattle can.
Really came out great, Johan! The replacement parts look like they fit perfectly.
Thanks! 🙂Yes, it's almost like a lottery. Some replacement parts don't fit without any cutting or sanding, and some parts fit like a glove right away.
