Nobody is talking about that insane stasis ward at 3:05 that pretty much shutdown the zergling follow up. Other than the battery overcharge MVP play, to me that stasis ward was the second MVP
Because those zerglings had no impact either way. They'd tank a few shots, yes, but Reynor still wouldn't have enough to break through.
@@HellGoesOn not only did 12 zerglings didn't participate in that fight, they also formed a sick force field that really reduced the attacking surface area for reynor, making zerglings go around and derping up them ravagers pathing. But Kev was right, it was still secondary to the placement of the overcharged battery. It was nice and tucked in at the back so it can't be biled down and it did constant, super-speed healing for pretty much the entire duration of the overcharge. I think rotti was right that the total amount of HP healed by that single battery alone must've been well above a thousand!
@@jn278 Reynor still didn't have anything near enough to dealing with the Chadrays and zerglings weren't exactly helping with that anyway.

Debatable. Overcharge was gone and battery shields have no energy. Those lings could have easily avoided the cannons and dealt economic damage and damage to the production buildings to the main and natural. Buying Reynor some meaningful time to rebuild his army. To me the stasis ward was the cherry on top after that perfect hold
That initial fight was insane! Never have I seen a more efficient trade in terms of unit/mats lost than the screen at 3:32 before!

@@alexangel4141 Yeah, the macro to get the batteries and ALL that static defense out, planning to place everything correctly, the foresight to get it all in the right place, and micro to aggressively chase stuff and get back in time to get healed obviously meant nothing, Protoss is just a-move and hit battery overcharge, gg, against one of the best zerg players in the world. Obviously it wasn't that Reynor was so overwhelmed dealing with void ray micro to even notice he'd bodyblocked his reinforcements. Obviously it's just hit one button and win, that's why every single pro player plays protoss---oh wait.
Oh my dear god, that final match with the mothership recall and then into mass stalker was impressive, Zest baited Reynor the entire game to amassed corruptors only for it them to be useless majority of the game and losing those vipers became the crux for Reynor.
Offensive recalls are so underused. Brilliant move from Zest.

They're not used because a LOT of the time they'll lose you a huge amount of minerals, gas, and time invested. You're giving up the VITAL Protoss ability to get the carriers the fuck out. When they work they can wreck face but when they don't they can lose you the game.
That is THE selling point for motherships for me. Without it the -400/-400 meme holds true.

Why is it so popular to go Queen Ravager these days against this when it seems like Hydra would be the more natural choice?
@@SHIBBYiPANDA In two words? Vespene gas. Hydras take waaay more to produce and upgrade, Queens are available earlier and only take minerals. Those Queen marches win plenty of games, too.
3:07 that was a nice stasis ward because those fresh lings would have killed off those first two cannons, possibly as a domino effect causing protoss to lose 2-3 more void rays.

No doubt Reynor got worked!
However, the sheer amount of damage Raynor takes is immense.
His defense is spectacular, but ability to soak damage, and still not die is incredible. The homie Protoss kept it aggressive, which is how I love to see Protoss play. With aggressive intelligence it feels like the Protoss is in its element and a gem of a watch.

Not a bad push by any means. Pro zergs have been absolutely stomping some of the best protosses with queen ravager zerling pushes, but Zest is just too damn good for that nonsense.
@@carlmarl6531 yeah, people in the comments have no idea how stressful it is to try to fight back against the kind of void ray micro Zest was bringing in that three minute fight, just melting stuff so hard Reynor didn't notice his reinforce couldn't engage. They just see Zerg standing still and don't get how much effort and thought goes into those biles trying to outhink and predict one of the best toss in the game.
@Carl Marl It is a bad push, when you see shield overcharged, you either kill that first or back out... Reynor had no way to kill that batter but he still not back out... that is a bad decision

Why did zest build his robo bay in such an exposed location 9:50? Is that a mistake or is there a reason why?
He probaly built it as fast as he can when he saw he needed it and his screen propably was at his third at that moment so he grabbed a probe and just build it. Its kind of a mistake but you need to be as fast as possible in this moments and then your buildingplacement can sometimes suck. If you go back in the video you can see he placed second robo and robobay at the same time and his robo was behind his robobay so propably the right panick reaction but at the wrong spot. Overthinking where to build your buildings can lose you the game if it gets hectic but then sometimes stuff like these also happens.

Why didn't Zest use the prismatic alignment for void rays in the first two games?
Typically because it makes them too slow. The ravegers get to actually hit biles when prismatic alignment goes up since it slows down voids. Prismatic alignment is best used when going toe to toe with air units or sniping buildings or armored units that can't fight back. Ravegers aren't armored so prismatic alignment doesn't deal bonus damage to them and the voids are taking damage for it so it's better not to pop it.
I think Reynor was out of range of the battery and maybe didn't see it being overcharged?
Maybe, yeah, but I think he just got hyper focused and was confident he could blast through with biles. But trying to land biles against Zest micro had him distracted and he blocked his reinforce so never had the dps.
Maybe :/ But honestly you can see the healingray from the batterie even if you arent in visionrange of the battery (visionrange of the healed target is enough) and to overlook the supperbattery which always is key in the tossdefense would be a massive blunder... way to massive for a proplayer

@@redblack9618 I just said i dont think he overlooked the battery. Would be very untypical for him. He made the decision to not pull back and wait the battery out. Didnt work out for him, but thats what he decided in this stressfull situation and im not gonna criticize him for that. But if he really overlooked it i would be very very surprised. No need to feel so attacked :)

raynor forget basic gameplay, that zerg supposed to trade continously, it cannot muster an army strong enough to go toe to toe, that recall pretty much shut down the remax potential (the part where you trade continously)
Reynor should have tapped out on the third game after that Zest recall. That game went on wayyy too long.
I mean, in a tournament you definitely want to stay in until you're SURE. Keep in mind we have a lot more info than they do.

Haven't played StarCraft regularly in a long time, why do Zerg players use only queens for antiair? Like they have more health and abilities than hydras but they're super slow, I assume they have worse damage, and they're big so less units can shoot at once... Is there just an expectation that it's better to spend minerals than gas?
Mass queens bring transfuse to the party and cost no larvae.
Queens dont have real tekrequierment, they are tanky, have transfuses for more tankyness and their antiair attack is freaking strong (very high range and decent damage). Queens are highly underrestimated (in the lower elo). Yes they arent very mobile (off creep) but thats okay in the early because you either only defend with them or go for an all in with queen, roach, ravager and rhen you either crush the fight or all your queens are dead but thats the risk^^

You need to build queens anyway because the voidrays attack before you can have hydras.
Hydras are pretty bad without both range and speed upgrades. So if you try a similar push with hydras it would hit much later. The Protoss would already have enough disruptors to camp behind battery/cannon and defend easily. Also zealots are very strong against hydra. This means the defense is easier for the Protoss and zealot warp ins in the Zerg bases will likely just kill you. (If you build roaches for the attack you can defend zealot warp ins with them as well)
Looking at the first game Reynor attacks at 6;30 (2:35). No chance to have a reasonable attack with hydras at this time. He does a later timing with more units in the second game at around 8;00 (8:25).

didnt expect a semi clickbait title from this channel. I wouldnt call the nearly standard voidray opener ''MASS voidray, he got like 8-10 voidrays maximum(barely 32-40 supply, not even the majority of most armies).

8-10 is enough to call it mass voidray. The other voidray builds have a few early and no more.

You either make ~8+ or you make one stargate and less than 2 voids. Thats simply the way to make double stargate work as with any less, you’ve simply dumped 300/300 into a thing you could do with 150/150. What zest did was about as standard voidray opener as it gets.

mothership and carrier are killing beyond how dead the game is already in low leagues :( I have only seen protoss the last 2 weeks. they should make interceptor untargetable or just lower the damage because it's really stupid.
Instead of just A clicking around carriers actually click on the Carriers instead. Not to mention if interceptors did become untargetable, people would abuse it by just taking Carriers into some dead air behind bases and launch interceptors that can't be targeted so you'd just have to sit there and watch them attack your stuff if you don't have aa units or units that have enough range to hit the carriers.
Make only carriers = You can beat the world's best zerg user fuk balance
Make crap tons of queen and you can heal the entire army over and over, fuk balance. We can nitpick anything about any race and forget all the context then scream OP!
