    I haven't seen anyone use ptfe tube as a bearing surface on a spool holder before, but it's brilliant. I knew I was saving those offcuts for a reason. Thanks for sharing this!

    Great job on the Divider PCB Adam, it's a nice simple way to add some cleanliness and quality of life to your build! And thanks for the kind words! :)

    Not only a great review, but also the effort you put into modding to printer was awesome. Love the Divider PCB! Cable management is a lost art form

    The divider looks very cool. I definitely want to add one to my V-Minion!

    I love my v minion. I added an integrated lead screw stepper and the spinda. I did replace the weho power supply with a meanwell also. I thought the reason rat rig uses them was to save money but from what I understand it is because meanwell are not approved for consumer use in EU and they don’t want to get fined or sued.

    I've had mine for a couple of months and I agree with every single word in this review. Probe, PSU, filament guide, and spool holder, and cable management should be upgraded. And after that you an incredibly fast and precise machine. I absolutely love it! Rat Rig could do everyone a solid and ship it with a good probe and PSU from the start. I don't see the point of shipping it with a probe that everyone has to swap out.

    I have this one and I love it. Built it out of PLA.

    Thanks Adam! Nice, balanced review.
    I'm loving my V-Minion. It's just waiting to upgrade to a Revo with high-flow nozzles, and for a 4028 cooling fan upgrade, so my flow rate can keep up with the rest of the printer (I've managed to hit 800mm/s with my minor mods).
    I printed your spool holder in PA-CF, and that's been working great.
    It's funny, but I haven't had any issues with the kit probe. I even bought a SuperPinda, but haven't installed it yet.

      Thanks for the $5 Jon. I think you're not the only one waiting on Revo high flow! 800? That sounds very high for these steppers, thought lost torque after about 300-350. Glad to hear my spool design worked well for you, it's been a saviour for me too.

      @@Vector3DP I'm using the LDO-42STH48-2504AC on my y-axis, and hit 800mm/s according to Mainsail for a large test part that filled most the bed. Accel was 15k, I think.

      @@Vector3DP oh, I should really say I'm waiting for Revo high flow ObXidian nozzles! I don't ask for much!

    It seems as though people have gravitated towards the Kingroon machine and modded that, I have an original Ender 2 that is pretty much stock standard apart from a compression fitting replacing the pneumatic one and replacement bed springs, I had to tap the heatsink straight as it was tapered somewhat but that was an easy 2 minute job, the Ender 2 is also my most reliable printer, It just works, I can't remember the last time I had to level it either and its print quality is excellent.

    • @burmy1552
      @burmy1552 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was just gonna say this. For this price you could buy 3 kingroons, upgrade them with bimetal heatbreaks and put klipper on em.

    Nice review! I really don't like separate electronics boxes that can't be unplugged, so your breakout PCB is a great idea! I was surprised to see that on a modern machine to be honest. I think having a separate brick type PSU is OK since they can be unplugged usually, but I would really prefer an electronics enclosure for the RPi and Motherboard on the machine itself.

      Aluminum extrusions are really cheap, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to destroy a completely working printer to save $50

    According to the configurator on ratrigs website. Meanwell is not certified for use in EU and therefore they supply the Weho. Any thoughts on this? Seems mostly like a legal thing and not quality reason? Thinking of ordering the kit without psu and sourcing meanwell psu locally instead. Copied from their website: "CHOOSE ONE POWER SUPPLY (WARNING: MEANWELL LRS PSU IS NON-COMPLIANT ON EU MAINS FOR USE WITH 3D PRINTERS. PLEASE SELECT WEHO IF YOU'RE EU/UK BASED. IF YOU SELECT MEANWELL, WE WILL AUTOMATICALLY SWAP YOUR SELECTION IF YOUR DELIVERY ADDRESS IS IN THE EU/UK"

    I am always amazed how simple a printer PSU is inside compared to a PC PSU. I guess its its simply because they are single output voltage and much lower wattage than a PC.

    Hey Adam, I've seen somewhere that people are starting to use break out boards like yours that only use a usb between the main board and the breakout. Is this remotely possible with the ratrigs and voron setups?

    • @Vector3DP
      @Vector3DP  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That requires a serial or CAN communication which requires a microcontroller etc to work. The downside is that when you do that you put a microcontroller that can overheat back in the enclosure and half the point of this is to keep sensitive electronics outside the enclosure.

    • @b3nny90
      @b3nny90 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Vector3DP so something similar to your new 2.4 build mods with that can system setup would work for that?

    • @miklschmidt
      @miklschmidt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Mellow FLY SHT's and BTT EBB toolboards are supported out of the box in the next version of RatOS via a USB connection so you don't have to mess with CAN, simply plug and play, if that's the way you want to go. Adam is right about the enclosure, but so far it works well for me with a small heatsink on the driver and mcu of the toolboard up to 50c ambient.

  • @MrButuz
    @MrButuz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just can't get over how messy and space in-efficient this is. It takes up more room than your voron 2.4 (and probably isn't that much cheaper by the time you fit all the mods you fitted). I'll stick to me 0.1s
