I think its funny that in victoria 3 everyone is obsessed with overthrowing monarchies but in hoi4 everyone is obsessed with restoring or empowering monarchies
Well, in Victoria depending on if you have or do not have a monarch your gameplay changes considerably. In HOI, unless it is USSR, where you have to go through a long and devastating civil war, if you go monarchist you just get some different spirits, which are sometimes just arguably better, like with Carlist Spain.
I recently did a playthrough of monarchist Norway with my mates on Sweden and Finland. My mountaineers were ridiculous with the amount of special forces buffs monarchist Norway gets along with the new special forces doctrines. Manpower was a massive problem though, I was on All Adults Serve in 1939 trying to contain the naval invasions in Sweden because my friend forgot to garrison his ports.
The fact that Norway doesn't have King Haakon VII as a national spirit from the start really shock me ! He should be added at the start and , in historical, get his trait upgraded when refusing Quisling's coup.
Another great video! Btw, little tip: you can also justify on Slovakia to get a war goal against Germany, except that justifying on Slovakia creates far less tension
Me and my friend were playing as Norway and Sweden, respectively, and this would have been a nice guide for that time. Luckily, we didn't do too bad, and I got a nice bit of land
With the new special forces buffs, paratroopers have become really fun. I had a Kaiserin Victoria run where I paradropped Leningrad, Moscow, and Stalingrad ahead of my tank spearheads, it was honestly beautiful and what I always imagined HOI being. Special forces are finally special and can really well fulfill their specialties
not to mention if you diversify your special forces if you read the fine print on the special forces doctrine they are not all specific to one type of troop so you can get some disgustingly large buffs
I'm only missing two achievements of AAT (the bus and cheese your fighter) and you come up with the correct path for one of it but then stop before it's finished... Anyways, great as always. I'll get myself some Belgian fries tomorrow.
This is a really good strategy. Clicking all the demonstration decisions is definitely the right choice, even if unintended and very cheesy. I tried something similar, but forgot about attaches and Quisling so I just tried to take 'Promote the Armed Defence of Norway' as much as I could until 70% war support. That took too long, and annoyingly, both Denmark and Sweden accepted my ridiculous territorial demands (maybe my army was too large?). As a result, I couldn't declare on Sweden immediately, and I only managed to annex the three Swedish states, the Danish mainland (and Iceland) before Germany came knocking. Why the hell does Denmark survive on like Greenland and the Faroe Islands like nothing happened? Then what really messed things up was that Germany declared war on Denmark, and with my thirty-ish division army and no manpower I retreated to hide in mainland Norway again. Denmark did the thing which lost Faroe and Greenland, and I didn't realise that *both* 'Restore Kalmar Union' and 'Proclaim Nordic Unity' were locked behind owning the Faroe islands... which the UK outright owned... it is really infuriating when you've next conquered your way across Sweden, Finland (declaring manually on Sweden somehow dragged me into war with Finland), and reclaimed the Jutland Peninsula from Germany before looking at the decision that gives you cores and finding out that you have to declare on the UK. Pretty awful. Probably should've restarted again, but it was a fun campaign in the end (capitulated Germany, wasn't bothered to go to war with the Allies). At the end, the entire army was no manpower and suffering, lol.

I found Assure The Population is a better focus to take as soon as possible, since it will hit your war support, but since you're already capped with how low it can get it's a good time to get it, and start working on the decisions earlier
I did all monarchy clicks, I didn't take the -5% war support guy, so that may have helped. You can't get lower than 6% war support and you also get all the -WS out of the way before the strikes fire. You have time to do the 70 day focus that unlocks the decisions, and then the 35 day focus and that one finishes in perfect timing to save your economy law. I also didn't take the monarchy decision that purely gives stability, I did the three economy ones, and then concentrated on war support. I did just two 70 day economy focuses (the one that gets rid of that dreadful spirit) while my war support ticked up as by the time those have finished you have enough war support to continue on the tree. @@Bitt3rSteel
I think the new DLC raised special forces caps by a lot. You could be right that it's a mistake, but I hope not. Love my marines (30 width shock troops; take the beach, then everything else).
The elite forces is bugged for everything right now, most countries can pump out entire armies of special forces. Finland especially can have exclusively special forces. There will be more capacity than available manpower in Finland
Every time I land in the UK and split them in half my units run out of supply and just get demolished. And that is *with* a navy out, *and* air superiority, plus naval bombers running cover over the water. It's really stupid and I don't know what I am doing wrong. Great playthrough though.

Hey BitterSteel, got a nice exploit for you. If you go and look at the new MIO of britain, the aviation one Supermarine, in total the right tree gives 100% air attack for fighters. It seems like someone added a zero to much. Easy way of getting the achievment to shoot down 800 figthers in 1 day. Espcially with all the other fighter bonuses Britain gets. Japan also gets it but they dont have the MIO unlocked at the start of the game.

@@MA-hd7ds Not sure if this is still relevant for you, but it's better to only go for 6 of the provinces all the way to 3 rather than do all 10. Mathematically, if you do stumbling, then royal chamberlain, wait a day after that finishes. Then click the 6 provinces from the north down and then that allows you to take assure the population. then do the other focus in the tree. Do all the focuses up to "the kingdom of norway" without taking that. meanwhile, start propping up the economy so you can take an independent norway. Do a couple of focuses in that tree until you have over 55% war support from using the decision to boost war support. Then you can blitz down to shield of the north and start taking land. I saw Bitt3r also mentioned something about deleting your army for the focus for sweden so they'll deny you so you can go to war with them, not sure if that works 100% of the time, haven't tried it yet. What sucks is that once you take one of the focuses to core land, like kalmar union, it prevents you from taking any of the others later, so you don't get cores on Finland or Britain like he does.
