    I've always loved the Prius line, and now working at a Toyota dealership means I love them even more! I'd have to say that the fourth generation is the absolute best - I love how there are multiple driving modes; in Power mode, you definitely feel the horsepower and the Eco is phenomenal because of the tightness in the accelerator pedal, it definitely helps with staying in the EV sector of the HV display gauge

    My '19 awd-e Prius has averaged 61mpg from new, and in the summer I often see 70-80mpg; I had to learn how to drive a Prius correctly to get this.
    I'm not the only one with an awd-e getting fantastic mileage; Toyota did something very right with this car.

    Idk if it's still relevant to you or not, but I'd recommend adding the live MPG meter on the left info screen where your MPH is. It's just a small meter you can find in the settings on that let's you really see when your MPGs are taking a hit. I just got my Prius five days ago (love it) and this meter is really helping me dial in how the car functions. Thanks for the vid!

    Cool video. I own a 2017 and average 58mpg driving in sport mode (Red). The blue has too much drag. Best mpgs tips--check tire pressure, avoid using brake as much as possible, and keep a high score on AC all the time. Thanks.

    I have a 2016 Prius II Eco and my average mpg over the life of the car is 62.5. And 63.2 since I bought the car. It had 4,100 miles on it, and I have driven it just over 40,000 miles. I just drive like normal. When the temps go up, so does the gas mileage. I've had several trips of 50-100 miles where I'm getting in the 60s and 70s. It will go into EV mode on a flat stretch of highway at 60+ mph and will last for a mile or two. Great car. Can't complain, and I don't need to drive like a grandma. I always keep it in power mode.

    My Prius is amazing. 183,000 miles today 2013 Prius V. One of the best cars ever made. My wife had a Highlander we drive if we need a little extra room another great car with 140,000 miles but I would rather drive the Prius V.

      Wow. I have a 2012 V with only 55k. Too bad the V is discontinued for 2019. But the 2015 up V has a really ugly front end. It is a great car. Unappreciated and ignored by the press. One of the best upgrades was changing the tranny fluid with Redline D6 real synthetic. The WTS fluid is not synthetic and has limited life.Stan in San Diego.

    Also, its been tested and proved, that medium to hard acceleration to a coasting speed then coasting is the most efficient way to drive. As far as mpg's go.

    • @diedie111590
      @diedie111590 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      XD nah. Accelerate just enough so that the guy behind you won't run you over, and not too much that you're getting up to speed too fast, especially in city driving where you could be behind someone in a few seconds or sitting at a red light because you accelerated too fast.

  • @GameIconPlay
    @GameIconPlay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hi! my experience is how to get excellent mpg results from my prius plus is don`t need to be very gentle and crawling on acceleration like a turtle. For the first few metres be gentle with the accelerator use the battery to get the car moving and then use the petrol engine to get to speed while the motor charge the battery then on the speed limit release the accelerator completely so the engine could switch off and then keep your speed only using the battery with gentle acceleration but the next point is important before you need to stop anywhere like plan forward 200 metres and then need to stop example just get off the accelerator an let the car slow then itself because this will charge back your battery quickly and of course if you need to completely stop use your brakes. My Prius plus gets 55mpg on the long term because of motorway miles but in the city computer shows around 60-70 mpg.

    I get over 60 MPG just by doing the speed limit and using the cruise control all the time that I can use cruise, with my 2017. This way, the car adjust to hills, flat areas, more efficiently than I can. I even turn cruise back (resume) on at 30 mph once leaving a stop.

    • @garethbaus5471
      @garethbaus5471 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depending on how you time it and your driving technique you can run the engine in a more efficient range allowing for better thermal efficiency, not to mention that when your engine isn't running it isn't using gas. I use my cars electric mode more like an engine kill switch when driving I essentially coast on the downhills so my battery lasts about 30 miles using this technique(my particular car has a maximum electric speed of 62 mph so it is easier to do this than in a standard Prius)

  • @davisonthomas4697
    @davisonthomas4697 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    This vehicle can do over 25 mph on EV mode. I have driven 40 - 50 mph in EV mode. It's best for city driving. In fast moving highway speed you won't be able to maintain EV mode.

    My 2016 Gen 4 Prius will NOT remain in EV mode over 20 MPH. However, for 30,000 miles, got 58 MPG actual (dashboard says 60+). How? Drive in right-hand lane, 55 MPH.

    • @Prototypexl
      @Prototypexl ปีที่แล้ว

      25 mph is max for EV mode after the engine warms up to operating temperature. 18 mph when the engine is below operating temps.

  • @magic2506
    @magic2506 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Other than MPG savings, Oil changes every 10,000 miles and you may have to only do one brake job on the Prius in it's lifetime because of the braking technology it has. Yes, maybe a battery when it goes over 150,000 miles or more. However, the VT Transmission will never go on it.

I deliver food for a living and love my job ($1000+ a week in the comfort of my car? Yes please lol) so figured this would be a great investment. I was blown away that my average has been between 65-70mpg all day so I started watching videos and discovered that this isn’t an error in my car and that I can actually do this daily. Needless to say I’m even more happy with my purchase lol
