I was working at a record store in the mid 90s and we got an advanced copy of A.M. which I played a lot, having been an Uncle Tupelo fan. One day a guy came in and asked me if it was Pavement. I said “nope, Wilco”. He said “Never heard of them, they sound like Pavement.”
i have an unhealthy love for his vocals - that no matter if he's sick at coachella or adlibbing in falsetto i love anything he does. such a nice timbre he has
This was so great, one of the highlights of the week. After the show, we walked back to our rooms right behind Malkmus and his bass player and he was talking about looking forward to playing tennis the next morning, haha!
Is it wrong after watching this and seeing those wide-eyed smiles to wish and hope (and dream) that Wilco covers an entire Pavement album with Malkmus on vocals? They covered this same tune at Solid Sound Festival in 2013 so it's only fitting. Nels + Tweedy + Malkmus is pure bliss.
Theyre having a blast for sure ,Tweedy's guitar solo was spot on Malkmus' style itd be amazing to see more or another Crust Brothers album but w/ Wilco instead of Silkworm, if youre unaware of that live album Malkmus fronts Silkworm and they do covers from The Band, dylan, stones, its a plain, just fun time, witty banter, no one being serious and its a charity show
I remember seeing the Jicks in San Francisco when Pig Lib came out. At one point he pulled out an acoustic guitar and said something to the effect “well Wilco is really popular right now so figure I’ll give it a try”
He is clearly aging, but that immortal youthfulness and energy is on full display here, especially obvious since he isn't behind a guitar. In fact this might the first time I've seen him perform with just a microphone. He always struck me as someone who has it all figured out. Lots of young people are like that but he still carries the torch.
Thought Tweedy was playing Malk's guitar there for a second. Really enjoyed this. Malk's went full gray and he's only ten years older than me. Crazy to see the guys you were listening to at 15 getting gray but it looks great on Malk. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Thanks for sharing! So many goosebump worthy moments like this one at Sky Blue Sky! I love that Wilco is all about sharing the stage with other artists. And you can tell how respected they are by the other bands performing. And or course, Mavis. See you next year!
Dang the world trying to make me like Wilco. Yo here they are with baby Sudanese. Nah I still don't like wilco. Retrospect: Do a collaborative with Jay-z.
I love how Stephen sort of turns into Bob without the guitar in his hands. Thank you for sharing this!
Spot on haha! Always animated as well.
Two of my favorites together ❤
loving all of the grey hair! pavement 2022!!!!!!!!

Stephen's voice sounds so much better than I was expecting holy shit. I really hope I get to see him perform with Pavement later this year
@Earendil's Star nope not at all. I was thinking of listening to the silver jews though, as I hear nothing but great things about them

@@motionsuggests agreed, his voice can be so soothing, and honestly kind of sexy
this video IS EVERYTHINGGGGGG

Man, so weird seeing Malkmus with grey hair now..that youthful 90s cynicism of Pavements music still sounds so fresh today
Was there and it was amazing. The whole week was fantastic. This blew my tequila mind.
makes me excited to see footage from the 2022 reunion, seems like the right time - wilco are selling it here harder than pavement did back in 2010

Simplemente HERMOSO!!! Un regalo de la vida para las personas que estuvieron allí.
Thanks for capturing this… was worth the admission price alone for this… goosebump city!
Couldn’t stop smiling

One of the best things I’ve seen on TH-cam

He looks like Tony Hawk now.

Couldn't get a better backing band for his material
GODDAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!
Whole lot of Indy going on. And pajama tops.
This!
sweet
holy shit fuck yeah thank you
💯
Cool colabo as the shortening words kids would say.
Looking for audio/video of Stephen's SBS set if anyone sees any
It hurts to watch it when I cannot make it to Primavera
Great voice. Can imagine he once was an inspiration for Tweedy
Can't believe that I'll be seeing a white-haired Malkmus at the next Pavement reunion. He looks his age now though, which is something.
Hahahaha ... he's the Jim Carrey of music. Malkmus for King. Love how he sprinkled some nutcase-dust on the guitar solo. Genius visits.
Kawaii.
“Lots of grey hair!”
Can anyone tell what Stephen's shirt is all about? It looks homemade, with (last?) names like Stone, Ganz, Murphy, Schwab and Houlihan.
Haha, Glen really does need to cut his hair
Damn where was this?
Sky Blue Sky festival in Mexico…I’m jealous AF!
*Gaaaah*
I did, however, make this one, while bustling about and finishing up my “non-“balcony
Can it still be a "supergroup" if all you do is add one member to a preexisting band? Ie; Malkmus + Wilco = the best band ever?
Is this recent?
Can’t believe I used to sell him weed. He seems very bobish, I agree
This is the whitest thing to ever happen, I love awkward happy SM
