I think these updates on old aircraft, FMC's, autopilot with L, V NAV, digital instruments, really cool, similar to what they did to the's P3-AM and KC-137 of the Brazilian air force

Things haven't changed much since flying the older A-models. Newer models have lots of horsepower with the fans vs the old kerosene-burning water wagons we flew!! Carry on !!

      Haven't changed much ?
How so ? New glass cockpit, fans w/auto throttle, FMCs, airline style
autopilot, added fuel capacity, no carts ( I think, not sure, ), no LOX all GOX now,
New APUs which can heat the aircraft with out burning out,
and they provide air for start.

Why is it when they speak of military weapons system, aircraft in particular, they will always list the names of the crew, but they leave out the Crew Chief? Who the heck do you think makes it possible for that aircraft to perform it's mission. While on the ground that aircraft belongs to him or her, and they deserve mentioning!

good thing this plane is in the air...

Because, funnily enough, the crew chief is not a part of a crew. He/she belongs to the aircraft. Granted, the aircraft do not fly with out maintenance, but the birds do not exist for the purpose of being maintained. Maintenance is a means to an end.

there were reasons why being called cockpit...

  • @dreaded_pegasus6578

It is not called a cockpit in a KC-135, it is called the control cabin

    • @hadavisjr

It's still called the cockpit; another acceptable term is flightdeck. Control cabin??? Never used that term in 27 years.

never heard that either in my 4 years flying 135s

Tech is nice but I think pilots depend on it to much nowadays. JMO.

It makes flying safer. Shut up.

    • @1954BadCompany

@@ThatGuy-ob2yw Regularly using it and depending on it are quite different phenomena. Depending on it leads to disasters like the Boeing MCAS one and the Air France flight from Brazil was it?
