For those saying it sounds like old Mushroomhead or like their album XIII it's because Matt Wallace who worked on XIII and who is best known for working with Faith No More did the mixing for the new album. That's why it sounds familiar.
I was gonna say that XIII was their best sounding album production wise. Butterfly follows.....but yeah....definitely XIII was the punchier sounding album.
I have no clue who is even in the band anymore haha but I’m a mushroomhead fan for life and this has an early 2000’s vibe for sure so hell yeah, sign me up!

I love their older music because of nostalgia, but I definitely love their newer music as well. I honestly think this is better than anything from the Jeff/Waylon era.

Everyone misses Jeffrey and honestly I was skeptical of Steven but after seeing them live last fall and now hearing him recorded it’s different. I like it. MRH goes through members and that’s MushroomHead. I miss Church, Schmotz, Jeffrey, and Waylon but that’s how the music industry works. MRH is getting older and they’re not the same but bands age. Who knows maybe Skinny will leave next or even Stitch but it’s just a new chapter. Steven is awesome and Jeffrey picked him before leaving. This is a new chapter of MRH and this album is the start. Can’t wait for this album.
Once skinny leaves it’s over. It’s his band. There’s literally no one original left in the band but Jason and skinny is the one who produces and says what goes and what is used.
I'm James Here's the thing that a lot of fans don't know both Steve and Tommy have been a part of the band for so long that they could be considered original members. I mean they were connected to the band way before even Waylon joined.
_Nowhere To Go_ and _The Final Act_ were the ones that grabbed me, the *_first_* song of theirs I'd heard was _Solitaire/Unravelling,_ off of the Calling All Maniacs disc that came with Rob Zombie's _The Sinister Urge_ and it took a little getting used to... But it grew on me.
Not bad. Jeff’s voice gave them such a unique sound. The new singer has a more straight forward tone that may give them the mainstream success they have been deserving all these years
I love Mushroomhead, but good humor is good humor! But they're awesome and if they are still here in 30 years I will be thrilled! May even get into football if that happens
Yeah, even I am starting to become more accepting of this. This might be the reason why they released the single so early before the album. To warm us up and get us used to the differences made. Because they knew it was going to be different from what they’ve done before.
This is my 5 year old daughters favorite song. Every time we get in the car she says “Daddy play the WATERFALL song” lol and yes! She headbangs the whole time!
I wanted to hate it but it’s a good song. I wanted to hate not having Jeff but the singer is a good singer. He has a better range and a more easily accepted voice. He sonically provides a really similar experience in the band. Sonically the sound is about flawless. It’s mixed and mastered likely the best they have ever had. It’s thick and a massive wall of sound. The entire song is although a bit safe and radio friendly is definitely good. It still reminds me of mushroomhead. It’s simple, it’s tick and it’s a very modern song. Something mrh desperately needed.
Totally Agree with you one this I much prefer the new Singer vocal range, Im not dissing Jeff's vocals as he is very talented but I was never a fan. Im hoping this is the start of a new journey for the guys.
Nearly 6 months gone by, I’m still listening to this and bobbing my head. You see, it’s all about that hook. And these guys have definitely found that hook, because I’m stuck on like a fish.

Most definitely a different sound at the start. Was kinda listening with my gaurd up. But it grew on me quick. Still sounds like them. Cant wait to see Mushroomhead live.
I saw them back in 2015 in my hometown town touring for their Rightous And The Butterfly album, it was epic, I hope to see them again this time around, their new singer could put them back on track.
Saw them in December with static x. Was sceptical without Jeffery but it did not disappoint. Neither did static, or dope. Fuck the whole show was amazing!
Right now the songs that are coming out can be built around the new singers voice. So hearing songs wont be so crushing to hear. Bc nobody's vocals compare to to Jeffrey's.
Steve did a stellar debut on this album. Much of Mike Patton in his voice, not in a negative way, he just sounds great. I am sure Matt Wallace (Producer) noticed this too and focused on this, as Matt did produce all of Faith No Mores big albums too....
This is pure genius! They are bleeding several genres and styles together it seems. This is the newest thing I've heard in a long time. This song could easily become a top 40 hit. That's not a bad thing at all.

Hatrix might have made them sound incredibly unique, but this sound is totally Mushroomhead. I hear shades of XX and XIII with all the melodic vocals of Savior Sorrow. Killer!

Why are all the comments here talking about past members? I miss their contributions too but this track has me excited to hear what's new and next for the band. I personally loved the bass track on this song by Dr. F and thought the new vocalist sounded great. I am also happy to see their back catalog finally available again on streaming platforms.

Been listening to MRH since XX and appreciate what Jeff did during his time in MRH but Jeff's last couple of years in the band his live vocals in particular were fucking terrible. A lot of us Shroomheads especially the Ohio natives that are familiar with Steve Rauckhorst and the Ohio metal/rock scene are happy that Jeff picked him to carry the torch.
Reading comments, all I can say is through how many members that have come and gone with Mushroomhead, the shit the band has been through, at least there still going and making music for us.

Been giving them a listen for the first time in over a decade these past few days. 2:28-3:03 the vocals hit like Mike Patton back in the FNM days. What's always amazed me is Mushroomhead's ability to turn the whole song into the hook.
He sounded like an evil Warlock on vocals that worked with metal. Imagine him with Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation doing super unique vocals like that.

Why it's mystifying to see people say this is just a generic song. This sounds like Mushroomhead. And the sound mix is excellent (done by Matt Wallace who worked on XIII and Faith No More albums).
Ahh Mushroomhead.....severly underrated often overlooked...but they have been as consistent a band as any other in the last 2 decades......originally dismissed as more GWAR than Slipknot...but of the masked bands...these dudes have held their own....Love the evolution....

They are both good bands but i like mushroomheads different style. All bands kind of are similar but mushroomhead mixes it up with different instruments, style of singing, etc. Look at Never let It Go and then like Sun doesnt rise. Songs sound nothing alike. They are a just creative with every song. I miss the old guys but the new guy is pretty good. They still have that distinct sound and creativity. If you dont like the new masks and the new guys then ok.
Mushroomheads unique sound got me hooked, first time I heard a song by them was "along the way" from scorpion king. Didn't even catch their name, but then I heard QWERTY in '14 and it freaked me out. But then 2 years ago listened to sun doesn't rise at all and now im a fan. Wish I payed more attention to the band sooner like 2006.
The more I listen to this, the heavier it gets. Skinny’s drums have never sounded this heavy, and the guitars sound much more vibrant and brighter as far as tone goes. I love the earlier material with Gravy on fiddle, but his tone and Churches tone were both very muddy. This album is going to be fucking badass. I’m getting the same chill up my spine from the first time I heard “These Filthy Hands”
I cranked this through my home surround system with a pair of 12" Kicker Comp R's and it caused a small earthquake in my livingroom. It's some of the thickest sound I've ever heard. I'm pretty sure it dislodged a turd that was hung up in my large intestine.
As an old Gwar fan it was easy for me to get into Mushroomhead and been a fan since the 90’s. Its one of those bands when im driving a long trip i can put on spotify and just hit play for the entire trip
Every band changes and i accept that. Band members quit, pass away and new ones come and take their place or they stop all together. Was going in guarded due to lack of Jeffrey and even Waylon but I couldn’t dislike it. A bit safe and repudiative but it definitely sounds like Mushroomhead. Thumbs up.
Jeff hasn't been any good for YEARS. Pretty much a few years after XIII is when his voice went downhill because he's borderline deaf. They had to rely heavily on editing his voice for albums (they referred to it as "Vadering" Jeff) and using tons of backing tracks live. Steve is a HUGE improvement and major asset to this band now. They have the opportunity to go to some really high places (XIII fame and then some) with Steve if they play their cards right.
As a long time fan, I think the departure of Jeff and their guitarist was good for the band. They sound like OG Mushroomhead with an evolved sound. Much needed.
This sounds nothing like old MRH. Unless you mean J Mann in particular. This song is catchy but this band no longer sounds like MRH to me(again, other than J Mann). In fact this song sounds a whole lot like a Korn track that they laid vocals over. Just one mans opinion.
In my opinion this is the best sounding album I have ever listened... Bass, keyboard, drums, vocals, everything was put together amazingly well, we can perfectly hear the heaviness of everything, many cheers to the people who produced, mixed and mastered this album, it is simply the best sound a metal band could ever get!

I'm stoked for a new album from these guys it's going to take some getting used to not hearing Jeffery and Waylon, I was blown away when the righteous and the butterfly came out with all 3 vocalists. I'm a huge fan of mushroomhead and will continue to be.
He honestly sounds like Mike Patton in this song, particularly on Angel Dust or The Real Thing. Matter of fact, the whole song sounds like something off of one of those albums, ESPECIALLY around 2:28, just mixed with the addition of JMann's screaming.
De-tuned obviously, but sounds like the strings are at low tension with a low action. Tone is awesome , really stands out, but probably upset the purists (seeing the criticism Fieldy gets for his tone from the snobby bass community).
I'm just glad J. Mann is back. He's holding back in this track but there are 15 tracks more on this album and I'm sure he'll go back to his verse-spitting roots. I'm just glad they're back and the new singer is nothing short of great.

Steve is a great mix in the group with his vocals. I was very skeptical with all the line-up changes going on, but I am reassured with what he has shown in this new material. He is like a mixture of Waylon and Jeff. He can pull off both styles and it comes across very nicely. I'm liking that the writing style is getting a bit further away from just playing the open position all the way through every song with some fill ins here and there. This is a great evolution the band is going through, in my opinion. Damn it MRH, just when I thought I might be done, you pull me back in. I'm ready to hear this new album!

This was great to see and hear so that we the fans can hear the new singer with his own work instead of covering Jeff. As a fan since 93 ( I was 4 years old then ) I welcome changes as it's just bound to happen with bands. I think this is a good mark for the new singer to show who he is and what he brings . Now the song isn't what I expected and definitely feels more mainstream. I do expect far heavier songs in the album.. This song is far from bad .. New singer has a very clear voice and captures a nice flow .. Looking forward to the rest
I first watched this video while on acid and I just couldn't stop laughing. I imagined an alternate earth where all the people look like the guys in this video and for some reason it was just the most hilarious thing to me at that moment in time. Great song and video.

I'm James Ryan aka Dr. f is also a writer, producer, and multi instrumentalist. If Skinny leaves the band the band is still gonna be fine.
Got hooked 10 years ago with "Simple Survival" and this is the reason 10 years later I'm still in.
That album was fair garbage. My opinion. I nearly stopped full stop listening to them because of it, but here I am.

Not bad. Jeff’s voice gave them such a unique sound. The new singer has a more straight forward tone that may give them the mainstream success they have been deserving all these years

I wanted to hate it but it’s a good song. I wanted to hate not having Jeff but the singer is a good singer. He has a better range and a more easily accepted voice. He sonically provides a really similar experience in the band.
Sonically the sound is about flawless. It’s mixed and mastered likely the best they have ever had. It’s thick and a massive wall of sound.
The entire song is although a bit safe and radio friendly is definitely good. It still reminds me of mushroomhead. It’s simple, it’s tick and it’s a very modern song. Something mrh desperately needed.

Most definitely a different sound at the start. Was kinda listening with my gaurd up. But it grew on me quick. Still sounds like them. Cant wait to see Mushroomhead live.

I saw them back in 2015 in my hometown town touring for their Rightous And The Butterfly album, it was epic, I hope to see them again this time around, their new singer could put them back on track.
Saw them in December with static x. Was sceptical without Jeffery but it did not disappoint. Neither did static, or dope. Fuck the whole show was amazing!
Right now the songs that are coming out can be built around the new singers voice. So hearing songs wont be so crushing to hear. Bc nobody's vocals compare to to Jeffrey's.

Steve did a stellar debut on this album. Much of Mike Patton in his voice, not in a negative way, he just sounds great. I am sure Matt Wallace (Producer) noticed this too and focused on this, as Matt did produce all of Faith No Mores big albums too....
This is pure genius! They are bleeding several genres and styles together it seems. This is the newest thing I've heard in a long time. This song could easily become a top 40 hit. That's not a bad thing at all.

Why are all the comments here talking about past members? I miss their contributions too but this track has me excited to hear what's new and next for the band. I personally loved the bass track on this song by Dr. F and thought the new vocalist sounded great. I am also happy to see their back catalog finally available again on streaming platforms.

Been listening to MRH since XX and appreciate what Jeff did during his time in MRH but Jeff's last couple of years in the band his live vocals in particular were fucking terrible. A lot of us Shroomheads especially the Ohio natives that are familiar with Steve Rauckhorst and the Ohio metal/rock scene are happy that Jeff picked him to carry the torch.

He sounded like an evil Warlock on vocals that worked with metal. Imagine him with Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation doing super unique vocals like that.

They are both good bands but i like mushroomheads different style. All bands kind of are similar but mushroomhead mixes it up with different instruments, style of singing, etc. Look at Never let It Go and then like Sun doesnt rise. Songs sound nothing alike. They are a just creative with every song. I miss the old guys but the new guy is pretty good. They still have that distinct sound and creativity. If you dont like the new masks and the new guys then ok.
Mushroomheads unique sound got me hooked, first time I heard a song by them was "along the way" from scorpion king. Didn't even catch their name, but then I heard QWERTY in '14 and it freaked me out. But then 2 years ago listened to sun doesn't rise at all and now im a fan. Wish I payed more attention to the band sooner like 2006.

The more I listen to this, the heavier it gets. Skinny’s drums have never sounded this heavy, and the guitars sound much more vibrant and brighter as far as tone goes. I love the earlier material with Gravy on fiddle, but his tone and Churches tone were both very muddy. This album is going to be fucking badass. I’m getting the same chill up my spine from the first time I heard “These Filthy Hands”

I cranked this through my home surround system with a pair of 12" Kicker Comp R's and it caused a small earthquake in my livingroom. It's some of the thickest sound I've ever heard. I'm pretty sure it dislodged a turd that was hung up in my large intestine.

As an old Gwar fan it was easy for me to get into Mushroomhead and been a fan since the 90’s. Its one of those bands when im driving a long trip i can put on spotify and just hit play for the entire trip
Every band changes and i accept that. Band members quit, pass away and new ones come and take their place or they stop all together. No it won't be the same but at least they're still kickin ass and still making music!! If your a fan way back, then be a fan now. Support them.

Jeff hasn't been any good for YEARS. Pretty much a few years after XIII is when his voice went downhill because he's borderline deaf. They had to rely heavily on editing his voice for albums (they referred to it as "Vadering" Jeff) and using tons of backing tracks live. Steve is a HUGE improvement and major asset to this band now. They have the opportunity to go to some really high places (XIII fame and then some) with Steve if they play their cards right.

As a long time fan, I think the departure of Jeff and their guitarist was good for the band. They sound like OG Mushroomhead with an evolved sound. Much needed.

This sounds nothing like old MRH. Unless you mean J Mann in particular. This song is catchy but this band no longer sounds like MRH to me(again, other than J Mann). In fact this song sounds a whole lot like a Korn track that they laid vocals over. Just one mans opinion.

In my opinion this is the best sounding album I have ever listened... Bass, keyboard, drums, vocals, everything was put together amazingly well, we can perfectly hear the heaviness of everything, many cheers to the people who produced, mixed and mastered this album, it is simply the best sound a metal band could ever get!

Steve is a great mix in the group with his vocals. I was very skeptical with all the line-up changes going on, but I am reassured with what he has shown in this new material. He is like a mixture of Waylon and Jeff. He can pull off both styles and it comes across very nicely.
I'm liking that the writing style is getting a bit further away from just playing the open position all the way through every song with some fill ins here and there. This is a great evolution the band is going through, in my opinion.
