AFI has been a part of my life for 17 years now. I found them when I had no understanding of how to express the pain I had inside. Their music gave me hope, and it kept me alive on the days I most didn't want to be. I'm so thankful for them, and so proud of how they have moved in ways that satisfied THEM. I think that's the truest inspiration of all.
AFI always and forever. We named our daughter after this song. She was born at 23 weeks at 1lb 8oz and we spent 157 days in the nicu and AFI and especially this song gave us comfort and hope we desperately needed it.On the most difficult days I would play this and hold my daughter in the NICU. Thank you for doing what you do. Much love 🖤🖤
Afi have been my favorite band for 20 years. I’ve always searched out anything I can find online and it’s a very rare thing to hear Davey sing over acoustic. It’s a great reminder of how good he is.
I am right there with you my friend. Sing the Sorrow was my first CD ever, I got it in 2003 for my 13th birthday. One of the only acoustic performances that comes to mind is the acoustic Endlessly, She Said videos here on YT.
I'm from the same hometown Davey is from, & the same hometown where he & his friends created AFI. I also worked at the dental office his mom went to 🤣 I still find it super crazy that this small town guy made it as big as he did from my hometown/county. It's always so cool to see that.
Black Sails and The Art Of Drowning changed everything for me, socially and musically. I was 14 when I first heard Malleus Maleficarum. It was the most insane blend of roaring vocals and screaming guitar I had ever heard. Also, it's so crazy to see Davey's tattoos covered. Not that there's anything wrong with the new tattoos, but I think it's safe to say that his sleeves stood out more than any other front man in the genre.
This reminds me of MTV Unplugged. Man it would be awesome to get the full show of AFI doing acoustic for the Songbook. Everything is top notch! Well done Songbook!
Just amazing. It's so jarring to see him and remember that he was the imposing tall guy with the long hair, 17 years ago. Holy shit, that was 17 years ago.
My favorite AFI album is “shut your mouth and open your eyes”. I remember just getting smashed hammered on drungs and alcohol and listening to that album on the way to parties, at them and then on the way home in highschool. That was soooooo long ago. AFI is always with me forever. I remember seeing them live, how badass that was. I was so fucked up i barely remember them playing A Single Second. I was in the pit getting thrashed as soon as i heard the opening riff!!!!
I would love to just sit down and have a light chat with all of them. they all seem like very nice and well versed people. if not a story tellers acoustic set then def a pod cast for them telling stories
My sister got me into AFI as just a little girl like 5 or 6 and ever sense ive loved them!! Davey has such an amazing voice and jade a great guitar player!! I remember sitting with my sister watching one of his concerts on VHS it was their sing the sorrow tour!!!!
Delightful... "Listen, I can't make Make a sound, or feel Feel fine, I kissed the lies Why must they be so kissable? Listen as I break Break the four wall seal Gorgeous eyes shine suicide When will we be invisible?" "Under the summer rain"
1:30.. we just started writing Black sails. That's as beautiful as the story or Kurdt n Krist from Nirvaner. Black sails was where I was "this band is just too amazing" theybcould take over the world! In my lil Punker mind. TRL big.... no schway!!! They did though. Blew up that huge! Amazeballs!!!🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘💚🖤💚🖤💚🖤💚
Probably my favorite group of all time. No I don’t really listen to their new music. But that’s ok. There was a point when this band was, in my opinion, the best band in the world. when I listen to the “art of drowning””, or “black sails in the sunset”, or even the super depressing “song the sorrow”, I’m reminded about how special they were to me. I would still drop anything to see them live, even knowing I probably wouldn’t Know 75% of the songs lol. As long as I get some Totalimmortal, the days of the Phoenix, and some god called in sick today, it would be worth it.
PowerTuber 3.0 never heard that one. Pussy Cats is my favorite Nilsson. Something about John Lennon pushing him to the point that he ruined his voice that draws me to it.
When the hell did that happen?! Was it with Oasis or the High Flying Birds? I woulda killed to see either on the same Bill as AFI. SUCH a strange combo though
@@cjwilliams1124 with HFB. Courtesy of the Smashing Pumpkins, really. But I’m sure you googled all the info by now. At the end of the tour they all even took a group photo together with Davey Havok’s hand resting on Noel’s shoulder which you can also google somewhere or the AFI Instagram
I think it's time for these two to write an acoustic album together.
Girls Ain't Grey
AGREED!
He has such a soft spoken voice but such a strong singing voice

Very cool. My twin boys attended AFI for their first show. In the womb. Lol

I cant get enough how humble and honest they are, I’ve had way too long of a break from them.
AFI are part of my Lifes Soundtrack!!
I love this raw version. Jade and Davey are so talented 🖤

East bay? Or Ukiah?
It’s America. Anything’s possible. Always.

Gibson, send me to the wild with Davey and Jade! Too good.
This is great, I wish they’d do more interviews like this with the other guys too.
Just amazing.

A straight edge band that makes great music to get fucked up to. I've always found it odd.
Jade first words starts 3 octaves up, love this vid
i love davey he has such a beautiful voice
NICE VIDEO!! And what a BEAUTIFUL version of this song. ❤
Wouldn't it be nice to have an AFI Acoustic Greatest Hits?
One of my all time favorites. Thank you for featuring them in such a intimate setting.
Been up all night, bad one too, now I'm here, listening and taking in all this wonderfulness. Thank you
They're so good.
The moment he sings ❤❤❤

I feel like AFI is a natural element like fire, water, etc. They've completed my chemical balance since a youngin. Davey you're such a God
Wonderful version!
Jade Puget and Davey Havok Signature models ... NOW !
Davey signature model? He doesn't play lol
Jade does need a signature ebony Studio though he's repped that guitar for over a decade
Matthew Davis Gibson has made singers guitars that aren’t known for playing.
My sister got me into AFI as just a little girl like 5 or 6 and ever sense ive loved them!! Davey has such an amazing voice and jade a great guitar player!! I remember sitting with my sister watching one of his concerts on VHS it was their sing the sorrow tour!!!!
I’m in love of this song ❤️
I was kinda expecting the ship from Black Sails to creep in at the very end of the video.
Love the passion you translate to me... 🤟💀🥀
This is so wholesome
Delightful...
"Listen, I can't make
Make a sound, or feel
Feel fine, I kissed the lies
Why must they be so kissable?

Black sails all the way through Crash love is my fav. "Era" of AFI. Crash is such an underrated record.
Omg they were formed in 1991? i was only 12 then
I was born 11 years later man
I was only two.
That’s when I was born 🤣😭
I was 7. Only found out about them in 2003 with sing the sorrow.
Acoustic AFI - nice🖤🌗

Black Sails is a classic.
You mean Black Sails - by Harry Nilsson
PowerTuber 3.0 never heard that one. Pussy Cats is my favorite Nilsson. Something about John Lennon pushing him to the point that he ruined his voice that draws me to it.
I love AFI 😍
got dam that was fire!
I wonder if Noel Gallagher still remembers even touring with AFI
Im sure he thought they were a "weird Yankee group"
When the hell did that happen?! Was it with Oasis or the High Flying Birds? I woulda killed to see either on the same Bill as AFI. SUCH a strange combo though
