That is exactly what I wanted to see. I had suggested the fomoto in a video a couple of months ago and somebody kept saying that they couldn't install it because of the heat shield. I knew I had seen people install it on Reddit so I was like man that's weird so I actually just ordered it this weekend and I was going to make a video to show him. But I'm glad that this also exists because it's another example of how to do it. Thank you!
Ya, after seeing your video I decided to get it. Pretty simple install. I'm also pretty impressed with the amsoil. After researching oil for a few weeks I found that amsoil is one of the only true synthetic oils or I should say 100% synthetic vs full synthetic. I think motul might be as well. I have a little more research to do and I'll be doing a video about the oil. The fa24 engine having less clearance and lower tolerances means that thicker oil can't get to where it needs to go properly. Sure, people have been putting 5-30 without any issues yet but I think it will eventually cause premature failure. A guy posted a video about a week ago stating that he blew his motor with just an intake and access port at around 10,000 miles, I asked him what oil he was using and he said he didn't switch from 0-20 but I don't know if that's the truth or not. But the amsoil has 100% lspi protection which is one of the leading causes of ringland failure which could have probably protected his motor. I'm not claiming to be any type of expert by any means but I do read a lot and do lots of research to understand things. On top of all that, nobody knows these motors better than subaru themselves and if they recommend 0-20 then that's what I will use, everyone thinks that it's just for emissions and gas mileage but there is definitely more to it than that. I doubt subaru, knowing how people drive wrx's, would recommend an oil that would have them doing thousands of dollars of repair work in the long run.
I know you didn't comment about the oil but I'm actually desperate to talk about it. I think it's a really important conversation to have since so many people are buying the new wrx now. I went months without seeing a single one and now I see one every day.
I know you already have the Fumoto valve installed, but the F108SX drive valve allows you to choose the position of the drain and allows for much easier installation. No needs to loosen the heat shield or anything else. The F108S is the older design. And the filter prime function (or, Clear Flood Mode) is not going to cause any significant wear on the starter. Considering how many times you use the starter to start the car under normal conditions vs the one time you do oil changes every few months, it's a non-issue tbh. But, whatever works for you!
I'd rather not have it swivel. I intentionally bought F108s instead of the sx. Wasn't s big deal to install and have the peace of mind of not having extra possible fail points. Thanks for all your wonderful knowledge though.
I have seen that but it doesn't take much time to just fill it and let it soak. In the end it accomplishes the same thing and I don't have to put that extra wear on the starter. It really isn't good for the starter to keep it cranking like that.
Here is a article I just found after doing a quick search on Google right now. About the fifth paragraph down they say the same thing about cranking the starter. If you do more research then you will find many more places that will say the same thing and explain in more detail. I just wanted to give atleast 1 other reference point just so you know I'm not just making it up or trying to sound smart without knowing what I'm talking about. axleaddict.com/auto-repair/My-Engine-Cranks-But-Wont-Start
@@KushestWRXI really doubt no start cranking is going to do damage to your starter. It’s turning over 15-20 times once every 3-6,000 miles. Meanwhile you’re starting your car multiple times a day every day in between. And why would Subaru include this feature if it damages the starter?
@ViaticalTree They also say to use 0w20 oil. And many newer oils are supposed to be good for 10,000 miles. Doesn't mean you should actually use it this way. I could keep naming things that are supposed to be ok but in reality aren't. Let me know how your 10,000 mile oil changes go and how long your car lasts. I could keep giving examples but the point is that just because it's available doesn't mean you should follow that...
@@KushestWRX maybe use some common sense? If cranking it 15 times before starting it damages the starter then how could your starter last for more than a short time from starting it multiple times a day every day? You realize it turns over a couple of times before firing up every time you start it, right? I know why I shouldn’t go 10,000 between oil changes. Can you explain why I shouldn’t do the no start crank after an oil change? Or do you just believe whatever first article that comes up when you googled it?
I run the amsoil ss in mine also noticed it tends to run 5 to 7 degrees lower temps doimg my normal drivingan is there a reason you used subaru filter over the amsoil one?
I just feel more comfortable with the subie filter. I still change my oil every 3000 miles so I don't need an extended life filter like the amsoil one.
The 108s works just fine. The difference is that the 108sx swivels and has more parts that could possibly fail which is why I went with the 108s. The only reason they recommend the other one is for ease of installation but there is no problem with the 108s.

This was great work. Thank you man!
They have a filter prime function where the car cranks but doesn't turn over. IAG has a oil change walk through and shows how to prime the filter.

This isn’t the correct one for this car . I believ correct or is 108sx
