    can I throw in my 2 cents about palm oil? obviously the VAST majority of palm oil is dirty and should be avoided, but I also do think that we should support good palm oil production; the reason why palm oil is in everything is because we get so much fat out of just one plant and no other plant can compare tbh, and when companies put fat in their products but shouldn't use palm oil anymore, they still need to replace it somehow (since they obviously don't wanna lose out on the volume of their product), and every other 'fat producing plant' needs more agriculture space, since you need more of the plant to produce the same amount of fat you got from the palm, which isn't really that sustainable either, but it's SO hard to find companies that use good palm oil, since there's no symbol or anything for it, and it's a struggle..
    ouh goodness I really hope I'm making sense, I can't explain things to safe my life haha

      oh my goodness no no you are making perfect sense! I totally agree! I do think that there are good and bad sources as well, but the vast majority, unfortunately, comes from a bad place (so when speaking to absolute beginners to sustainable living, my theory, I guess, was that it makes more sense to say avoid it, y'know). But I totally should have expanded and clarified that! OOOOOPS! I thought about it, but ahhh sometimes I get so wrapped up when I'm editing, I forget to add things in.
      It's something I really want to learn even more about as well! I feel like I know the basics, but I want to learn the specifics more. Maybe I can research more and make an entire video about it! Honestly, like I said in the vid, it's something thats so so new to me and I feel like I'm still navigating the ingredient world a bit haha. THANK YOU for sharing this! I'm going to *pin your comment because I think this is so important!!
      I don't even know if this comment made sense hahaha but THANK YA for speaking up! SENDING YOU LUVVVV 💛 x

      Was about to jump in with this! In the UK at least there are a variety of brands which use certified sustainable palm oil (which, as you say, has the potential to be a much more efficient option than any other kind of vegetable oil). See www.actforwildlife.org.uk/get-involved/take-conservation-action/take-the-sustainable-palm-oil-challenge/shopping-list/ for more details. If anyone has the US version, please share! 💕

      I've heard that there is really no such thing as 'sustainable' palm oil - it is actually a marketing ploy to get people to accept the industry and to make people believe their consumption is not harmful. All it does is make people feel better while they are still supporting harmful practices

      @@SedonaChristina there is an app called cheyenne mountain zoo that will tell you if the products you are using contain sustainable palm oil or not. Theres multiple levels for their rating system and even a barcode scanner to scan and make sure if its sustainable. The app is free in the app store!!

    we need to encourage brands and companies to stop using "dirty" palm oil and switch to sustainable palm oil because other oils are not as sustainable as palm oil and it takes a lot more resources, including land, to produce those other oils.

    The cleaning company I used to work for used these products called Norwex rags. I’m not sure how environmentally friendly the rags themselves are, but they clean glass very well. They are microfiber cloths embedded with silver, which kills bacteria. All you need is to wet the first rag with water, and dry the glass with a second rag for a streak free shine! Plus it’s better than the harsh chemicals most people use for glass like windex. I believe they come in recyclable packaging. They’re like $45 but they pay for themselves after a while. Happy cleaning!

    Your video are very inspiring and I follow you since some time now, but may I suggest to switch from acetic acid to citrate acid? It's actually less impactant on the enviroment than acetic acid. In fact for neutralize 1% amount of acetic acid we need 1667 liter of water, while 31 liters are sufficient in case of citrate acid. I also used vinegar before knowing that but once I found these date on the EU site (they have a detergent ingredients database) I've switched to citrate acid, which I can buy in powder with less plastic. Much love.

    Hi! What do you clean the menstrual cup with while using on the go? I’ve read the cup needs to be cleansed with something fragrance-free and oil-free. What sustainable wash do you recommend?

    • @claireTTM
      @claireTTM 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're on the go, its totally ok to just rinse with water. I just use gentle dishsoap (mrs. Meyers, blue dawn, any natural soaps) with hot water when I wash my cup out at home. Every couple of cycles I pour some baking soda and boiling water in a bowl and let it soak for a while.
      Silicone is really simple to care for and keep clean!
