railways is not converting sleeper coaches to 3AC economy coaches just to earn more money
they are also doing it to streamline the train so that the train runs faster. open doors and windows of sleeper coaches causes drag which impacts the train's stability at higher speeds.
also AC means more comfort for the paying passengers
one cannot expect high class amenities without paying for it. motto is, you get what you pay for

Unfortunately Indian railways need to increase ticket prices in passenger trains to be truly profitable. They also need to focus controlling ticketing departments. Most of all cleaning not just trains internally and externally but also major cleaning of tracks at stations and off stations. People needs to be educated. I travelled in train two years ago and I got to Jalandhar train station and believe me I vomited just by looking at the tracks. It’s disgusting 🤮

Example railways have a diesel locomotive shed and acres of land in Parel Mumbai one of the prime location.
