It really is. I have the 3.8 GT with the 6 speed manual and it's so much fun to zip around town in. My only complaint is with the interior. There's hard plastic and fake metal *everywhere.* It's a beautiful vehicle on the outside, but looks like a cheap KIa on the inside.
@@Psythik the 3.8 gt’s are very underrated, I looked at buying them a few times. A shame the interior is mostly plastic, but still a cool package over all
Why the hell would they remove cruise control for "weight?" How much could cruise control possibly weigh? A few buttons and a computer that was already there...
the clutch in this car makes it hard to drive smoothly. I test drove one and the engagement window was too narrow for me to avoid stalling the car TWICE. Then again, i wouldn't pick anything else if i wanted a car with a stick shift
i think it has a double plate stage 2 clutch in it or someone may have upgraded the clutch. racing clutches or performance clutches are harder to drive for someone not used ot them. its just something you get used to or if you have ever owned a race car it comes with the territory
pontiacGXPfan lol well, all manual cars have different clutches. Just a matter of time before you get used to it. When I test drove 2.0T and 3.8 V6 GenCoupes, I don’t remember having any troubles with the clutch. Unlike my BRZ tS. Even the regular BRZ I test drove was weird. You have to give it more gas and ride the clutch to have a smooth acceleration from the stop, or it will stall. Sold my BRZ after owning it for like 8 months, but not because of the clutch. Still, that’s one thing I don’t like about the BRZ/FRS/86 and funny enough, not all of them have this issue.
Great Review. I have a 2011 R-SPEC. Pretty much everything he is saying is spot on. The car is very fast once it gets going. Fantastic Brakes and handling even without lowering or the Camber Bolts installed.A real head turner too as people ask me what it is all the time since they are so rare. The only thing I dont like is the car is extremely wide so it barely fits in my garage. Actually just as wide as a VETTE which shows you how serious the GENESIS is as a handling car.The car ROCKS.
@vintimv001 there are cars you guys dont get, last time i was there i was at the Toyota dealer i asked this salesman for a Avalon and he said "oh we dont have that car here, u have to order it" i mean, if some1 wants at least to see it or drive it in order to buy it, you cant...
Tuscani was a way sexier name then Tiburon. its too bad that they named the successor the Genesis after the bland Sedan they've been building for a few years already..
@camaroman101 You'd think a car with this kind of power and torque could do 1/4-mile in14-flat all day long. But not with a 33mpg highway rating. If it weren't geared for fuel economy it would be quicker off the line. From a roll it's still a quick motha.
I don't understand why you're saying this because 1: I don't get anywhere *near* 33MPG in my 3.8 GT, and 2: This car is *not* geared for fuel economy. In 6th (top) gear, the Genesis Coupe is cruising at over 3000 RPM. It has *zero* issues with overtaking on the highway without having to downshift. I *really* wish it had a 7th gear to save on fuel cause this car needs all the help it can get. I can *barely* manage 18MPG with economical driving.
@datpimpinboy Yeah and it doesn't look like he's slowed down much if at all. I use to watch him on Sundays when I was about knee high to a grass hopper and when the top tv tech was 19" CRT. The tester guy looked like he was going to steal the car. :D
that extra throttle cable is pure LEAD. the extra computer is made of brick, and don't get me started on the steering wheel controls being made of Osmium!
@Jamzkangster mustang gt u get a v8 for under 40k, camaro ss same thing, and i think the best outta all them if u wanna go around a track the 370z is better. I personally don't like this car but thats just my opinion.
@camaroman101 Oh shit -- for some reason I thought this was the video for the Sonata turbo I watched earlier.. Anyway, the Genesis Coupe V6 is a little bruiser, a poor man's G37. Though if I were spending someone else's money and not my own, I'd still get the G37.
OMG I drove over 30k miles a year mostly on the highway... No cruise control? WTF! How much weight can that save? It better be over 100 pounds, otherwise it's not even close to worth it. It's probably like 20 pounds, if that. Stupid.
A pathetic attempt by Hyundai to make a very deserving car better. Not even the slightest power bump. This is nothing more than the track coupe with a manual. SMH.
Such a cool car, shame they ended production😔

That's the first time I heard of removing the cruse control to save weight. I thought that was done in the computer.
So you are telling me that Motorweek got a faster 0-60 in this than they did with a 2011 STI? How many different drivers do you have?
The Genesis/Genesis Coupe didn't replace the Tiburon, the Veloster hatchback replaced it
Gamer All901 stfu
Damn shame too cause the Gen Coupe is *way* prettier than the Veloster.
What's the difference between the R Spec and the Track? Also can you get the 3.8 GT will LSD??
I know I'm 7 years late to reply, but I own a 3.8 GT and I can confirm that it has a limited slip. Just replaced the diff fluid last week.
I don't get why Hyundai won't put the DI turbo 4 from the Sonata/Optima in this car.
@zznwea the tau 5.0 does .. it's actually narrower than the 4.6
this car needs more low end torque. pulse plugs should raise power and torque by a bit. i think this r spec should com with a aem intake as stock
@2fast4all the one that drove the sti must have been James May, lol

The clutch is fine. Bought mine new in 2012 and never had any issues with clutch until I traded it in 2 years later for a Mustang GT.
