Wow!! I can definitely resonate with your story and I'm also in the healthcare field and decided to do the hemorrhoidectomy because of the uncomfortable situation such as I can only poop at home and jump in the shower to cleanup right away.. day 12 post op for me and recovery hasn't been that easy but I hope it will get better going forward!!! Glad it went well for you

Hope it goes well with you. I'm living the dream, going for a poop now is so satisfying knowing I won't have to worry or do all this other steps to prevent from bleeding or whatnot, my life changed drastically after the surgery. Yeah, hang in there, it's a really delicate surgery anyway, every body reacts differently but hey, you are on the healthcare field, you know the drill. It took me over 6 weeks to be finally ok with "yeah, now I'm healed and can live normal"

So it is really a challenge right now. I'm taking psyllium fiber supplements and lots of liquids. Hopefully, I will get this over soon.

I’m 10 day post op, and I have had the same experiences as you and the same op, as I was also not stitched up. The first 3 poops where the worst , the farting also hurts when it comes and goes. I did get constipated at some point which was painful even thought I was eating only fruits and water. I get these painful spasms, then I take the pain meds. As for now , I get pains during the night or the morning , then it’s just uncomfortable for the rest of the day. I can’t wait till it’s over. Your post was really informative.

Thanks for the info. I’m going for a second round of banding in a few weeks. The first round did help somewhat, with the ones they banded. So I hope this round is helpful too. If not, I’m ready to just do the surgery and get it over with. I’m beyond sick and tired of being a slave to my bowel movements. I’ve been avoiding going places and doing things for years because I’m in discomfort from pooping, or worried that I’ll have to poop and want to be at home to do it because of the horrible aftermath. A few questions...(1) Any pre-surgery tips to ensure I am not constipated? (2) What pain killers did you take and how often? (3) Did you use laxatives? (4) Did baths help at all and finally (5) What was your first 2 weeks post op diet? Sorry for so many questions, but your video has been most helpful so far...

    • @thiagosilva_1984

      1) just try to keep simple with a good diet, fibre... Lots of fibre but in the right amount, don't overdo
      2) normal pharmacy painkillers, 2 different ones + the antibiotic the doc prescribed which also worked as a painkiller
      3) no, but for the first week or two I only had easy food, lots of soups, rice, crackers, smoothies and lots of water
      4) best thing you can do is straight away after evacuating, jump in a shower, let the hot water run there (don't make it too hot, don't burn it) take all painkillers you can 5-10 minutes before evacuating and let the hot water help you
      5) take easy in the first two weeks, have the first few evacuations, understand the pain and how your body is reacting to everything, drink n eat easy... Soups, fibre, lots of fibre, smoothies, rice ...
Hope that helps a bit more

@Ryan Lalonde In my situation, whilst I do have a grade 3 hemorrhoid, it is causing me no pain or discomfort. I went to the colorectal surgeon to ensure it wasn't cancer, and they recommended a colonoscopy and hemorrhoidectomy at the same time. I felt a bit rushed by this advice, so went ahead with the colonoscopy (which came back all clear) but did not proceed with the hemorrhoidectomy. Oh mate! Living the dream now. Wasn't laser, he cut off and left open (he said it heals better) and my diet is been "good" for the last few years tho. One thing is, to not have haemorrhoids back, you need to add fibre and lots of water in your day. Water is ok to consume the normal amount, 2 litres everyday. If you like açaí bowls (or whatever smoothies or whatnot) buy Metamucil, it's technically fibre in powder form and you can add to smoothies and bowls, or you can just mix with water and drink. It's helpful.
And just go to the bathroom when you need and don't strain, let it go naturally, don't push it.

Im on my 5th day post op, got laser surgery and fissurectomy. Not gonna lie 3days post op was the worst not just because of surgery pain but i got my periods few minutes before the surgery and it was havoc. I never had such bad cramps in my life and i couldn't feel any other pain other than that cause it was very severe. So ladies before scheduling the surgery jst check your dates. The next morning after the surgery i had my first poop and it wasn't painful. Following the days i had normal diet and poop was not painful just a stiffness in the muscles after every poop. However, on my 4th day post op it was bad like really, pinch of tear came out but not like dripping sort. Anyway i just wanted to say whoever is going through it please reach out to your doctor and choose the correct doctor don't go to a general surgeon, gastroenterologists are the best in this aspect. One thing for sure the pain that we used to endure pre surgery will really come to an end once the surgery is done and post surgery pain is still bearable so if you're thinking about it go for it.

      @thiagosilva_1984  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

They say proper recover is 6 weeks. I got lucky that on first day after surgery, Melbourne went to a 6 weeks lockdown.
If you do the surgery, highly recommend not lifting weight or heavy exercises for 6 weeks, it's a delicate surgery and no reason to go through all that pain to not recover properly, it's 6 weeks only of your life to recover then you can do whatever you want in peace from not having that issue anymore
I was eating properly ish before so didn't have to change my diet but you do need to implement some fibre and drink lots of water everyday if you don't want that to happen again.
It's just not diet, going for #2 has to be normal, no straining at all, let the body do the work, no sitting there for 10-20 minutes, if you need to evacuate, do your thing and get out.
And some other little bits the doc will tell you (I hope... I hear a lot of people complaining because they didn't have a lot of info)
I did my surgery in Melbourne and the hospital and the doc were amazing... That helps.
And yes, it's painful but for me, pain was gone in 4-5 days.
To go #2 the first few times is painful as hell, make sure you get painkillers and some other drugs the doc will prescribe.

@@thiagosilva_1984 thanks for your response. I have changed my diet and drink lots of water. Glad you didnt have to go on a liquid diet. The surgeon i just saw reccomend i still eat normally.
The surgeon i am seeing is using a ligasure energy device to cut out haemorroids. So no stitches. Supposedly smaller wound, quicker recovery and less pain. The dr thinks a huge majority of his patients have tolerable pain and they go back to work in a week. Is this too good to be true? Or is he lying to me about the pain level? He thinks only a small amount of his patients complain about severe pain.
The dr i saq was a man of a few words and seems to think it will be a smooth operation, as in i wont need to see him befoe the 1 month checkup. I am worried he wont give me much info after, but maybe its because he is confident the operation will be a success and not painful. He also thinks i can return to work in a week, which is too good to be true. The good thing is he wants me to stay in the hospital until my first bowl movement, so i guess i will have support while im at my worst.
I remember in your video you said you had a colonoscopy. Was it in the same operation or was it a seperate procedure? The dr i saw wants to do them in 2 seperate procedures which is annoying.
I am in australia as well, and am thinking of flying to another state to get a second opinion about the ligasure. If i get the same feedback from the interstate doctor i will stick with the doctor in my state. He is not a c0lorectal surgeon but highly educated and respected. I hope its true what he said about the ligasure operation to be not as painful

Yeah, go back to work in a week or two is ok, just doing heavy exercise and lifting weight I recommend not but I'm a bartender, not a doctor. You do what you feel, hear and understand your body, go easy...
Again, for me, I had an annoying amount of pain for the first 3 times that I had to poop, but then it was ok, I hear a lot of people complaining about this surgery but they got in the USA and things there are horrible anyway.
Have you done the surgery already?

@@thiagosilva_1984Just had the surgery on Tuesday 1/5/21. I had rubberbanding litigation done in May on a grade 3 internal hemorrhoid 2 more smaller hemorrhoids interal one on the verge of turning grade 3 and a smaller one with external hemorrhoids. Litigation was unsuccessful so I was the same as you, if I go to the bathroom I have to soak, shower take ibuprofen 800 and lay down for hrs before I could do anything at all even cook dinner . I have 2 small children and am normally a very active mom but this has changed things 100%. One day after being constipated I was in such excruciating pain that I decided I needed to find a surgeon this was in November. She confirmed the external hemorrhoids and a fissure which was causing tons of pain. I scheduled the surgery then I went online and started looking for blogs, videos and any info on hemorrhoidectomy. Big mistake! It stressed me reading the horror stories of some people I almost backed out. After the surgery I was prescribed oxycodone, ibuprofen, lidocaine jelly and stool softeners the nurse also asked if I wanted Tylenol. Which I don't take the oxycodone at all now and only took it the day of in the hospital and 2 pills at home the same day and one on the 3rd On the day of and 1st day I had discomfort and little pain nothing as excruciating as I was reading the 2nd day was the same. The 3rd day was bad bc by then everything wore off. I was afraid to go to the bathroom but felt like I needed to go. The pressure down there from the swelling makes you feel like you really need to go but you may not. Give your body time after surgery to heal don't base your experience or expectations on other people's because everyone is different and body heals at different pace. It is uncomfortable and painful at times but it hasn't been the same for me as majority of the horror stories I read. With that being said I prayed alot and had to ask god to come heal and help me a couple times when I took my pain meds too late. Stay on top of your pain meds it's much easier to get ahead of the pain then to kill the pain once it kicks in if you wait to long only god can help. Use lots and lots of heat, sitz baths, showers, I used my heating pad with my wet washcloth covering my heating pad and put it in my buttcrack on the lowest heat whenever I'm not soaking. The water should be as hot as you can tolerate it without being burned, if you don't have a bidet get one or at least a traveling one and plenty baby wipes (sensitive) to help clean yourself after using the toilet it also hurts to wipe so the bidet will do a lot of the work for you but you do still have to soak after, I recommend doing liquid diet smoothies or super soft mooshy foods for at least a week after surgery and like a day or two before because you definitely dont want to have to poop with a super fresh wound and when you do you want it to be as soft as possible but definitely not diarrhea. Drink plenty water rest rest rest. After my first bm I found that squatting over the toilet helped ease some of the pain and pressure back there and it didn't hurt as much as sitting down to poop. I am on day 9 now and unfortunately have the runs now from the stool softener. I didn't poop for the first time until day 4 and was afraid that I was constipated because I felt like I needed to go or was not emptying completely it was just the pressure from the swelling as a result I took 1 stool softener and some Metamucil on day 6 and 7. That was definitely a learning experience by day 7 I had diarrhea (not fun) hoping it's gone by tomorrow. Definitely find a proctologist to check you out and schedule your surgery. Best of luck I'll keep you in my prayers

Over a year after and after I poop, have a shower, clean properly, like 10-20 minutes after, some poop still there but nothing that goes out on the underwear or anything like that... Imagine just like a cream tube when you press the cream and some little bit more keeps getting released from the tube.
I just wipe again with some butt wipes and it's fine.
Rather do that than live like I was before the surgery.

Alright my friend. I got lucky that the day of my surgery was also the first day of 6 weeks lockdown in Melbourne.
The more days off you can have after surgery the better.
Mate, make sure you are stocked with painkillers, if you can find a nice haemorrhoids cushion/pillow thing, that helps.
And for the first week or two, try to eat liquids n fiber, lots of soups n smoothies with fiber stuff.
For the evacuation, take some painkillers and the antibiotics the doctor might prescribe like 10-15 before
Now... For the first times (going to the bathroom) there's nothing much you can do, it's gonna hurt, unfortunately there's no sugarcoating. But take the painkiller before and straight away after evacuating, straight to the shower and try to let warm/hot water running in that region.
Be strong for that pain in the beginning, remember that's worth it and when it's done, you won't regret, best thing I did, wish I've done it earlier

    • @thiagosilva_1984

Doesn't matter the grade, it's gonna hurt. Not the surgery itself but the after.
Everybody reacts in a different way, I don't know if the ulcer will aggravate the issue or not.
One thing that helped me was my doc "hyping" me saying that's gonna be super annoying and painful. When it wasn't as bad as I thought (in my case) I was more relaxing.
Make sure you have everything at home sorted. Grab some ointment, grab a "donut" cushion, some pain medicine (besides the one that they will prescribe to you) and just be strong, the pain will be over, one day or the other but in the end it's worth it.
If you play videogames, buy a nice one, watch lots of tv, watch videos about it on TH-cam, that helped me a lot as well. Seeing people going through the same thing it calms you down a bit.
It's painful but you will be alright.
Lots of hot showers throwing warm water straight there
And try to stick, for the first week, to easy food.
Soups, smoothies, crackers and lots of water.
And if you think you have to go poop, just go, don't hold it, you have to go anyway, might as well just rip that band aid.
How old are you? Will someone be at home with you? Do you need to go back to work?

It was next day only or two days after, don't remember
Ah and it will hurt when you go pooping, nothinguch you can do about that, after all it was a surgery right there
You can minimise by taking some painkillers little bit before you go and again as soon as you can and don't try to clean it with paper or anything, poop and jump straight on a shower and let hot water (not super hot obviously) hit the region or of you have a bath, have a bath after cleaning in the shower, lay there on hot water

Pain wise, after the 2 months, it was very minimal, and my life went back to normal 2 months and a half with no pain and honestly the best decision of my life to get the surgery. It's definitely a confusing and somewhat challenging recovery but grateful of the outcome.
Bleeding stopped some time during the 2 weeks, but the pain remained until it healed better. The most painful or annoying part of it is definitely the little uncontrollable spasms you get back there but ive hesrd that not everyone gets them.

      @blueperspective หลายเดือนก่อน

@@monserratmartinezchavez5842 surgery was under General anaesthesia and I recommend it as the only anaesthetic option. Spinal is not enough, won’t cut the sensitivity.
Surgical procedure was Ferguson type. PostOP recovery was quite horror.. first 2 weeks of pooping were unreal. Cried on the toilet to be honest. Then it gradually been better. I would say that 1 month you’ll feel the discomfort every time when you poop. Never used toilet paper since then.. I’m washing every time after. Only time I use wet wipes are outside of my home if needed. But I have my routine and most of the time "I go out" in the morning after coffee, that's before leaving home.
Eating veggies and fruits every day and also milk with cereals with high percentage of fibres + lots of water daily. 2liters+.
Quality of life at 3 months after op is awesome. Never had blood in the stool anymore, I’m not afraid to go outside without checking my ass every 15mins and so on. Definitely worths taking the decision, even if the first 1-2 weeks postop are a nightmare.
      Good luck!
