- The second installment of a 3 part series. In this episode, I build the battery box that will power my Garmin. The design had to be sturdy, functional, waterproof, and future-proof. The battery is a 12volt 12 amp-hour rechargeable battery that can more than handle the demand of my fish finder.

Great video, I like your attention to detail. Great work!
Great instructive video, battery box is a bit upscale for me but very functional. Thank you.
Damn! Talk talk talk...
8:23 when you’ve already started buying things for your yak power box and you discover a better part.. lol damn my hole’s already drilled and everything. Love the water resistant twist lock version very much tho. Thanks for posting
Great video it has given me some ideas, i like the pup back there on the sofa seems he wants to get out on the water, he's looks bored. thx
You take too long explaining stuff that don't need to be explained
the battery is lead acid I believe. I would hesitate before plugging that into wall power for a trickle charge. At least open the lid when doing that activity.
A better setup would be the lithium iron phosphate choice, but that is a hard no on charging inside the kayak or inside the drybox. You have over 10 lbs there, it would be half that in the better battery that burns all day (and night).
From start to finish - great job. Thanks for walking thru the whole process.
Are those switches waterproof?
If you use Velcro to stick the battery inside the case, it will be removable instead of gluing it in. Also, if you locate the battery in the center, low in the box, it will be much more comfortable to carry.
Nowadays, you can find a box very similar to that expensive Pelican, but much, much less expensive at Harbor Freight.
very detailed. awesome vid
Couldn't you charge the battery through one of the 2 plugs?
Maybe upgrade the battery in time. You can only drain this battery for 50% max. This means when you use your fishfinder "draws 3amp" you can only go fishing for 2 hours.
Still nice project tho :-)
Great video, you should also consider sae connectors and some dialectric grease but other than that very nice!!!
Could you link or name the switches please? It's been hard to find those with cylindrical inner portions that I can drill out (most would require a rectangular seal)
Great video!! The music is definitely distracting, though.
Great F***cking Job !!!!! THANKS a lot For Your Time Sir and All those links !!! U Da Best 😘
Wow. Great and thank you.
Awesome build! how is the box holding up?
Can you link to the led switches you used? The 4 pack.
I think I found them: www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Marine-Motorcycle-Rocker-Toggle/dp/B01J0PFX3Y/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=waterproof+switch&qid=1577401584&sr=8-10
How did the box hold up under use? Did it leak?
omg! yacky doodle lmao
How is it holding up?
Kind of painful to watch someone buy a new Pelican and immediately start cutting it up.
I did the same thing but just a little less clutter. 2 batteries and one plug for charging at home.
Nice set up but you should have gone LFP
LFP???
Lithium iron phosphate, or LiFePo4.
The only way to verify it’s waterproof is to put it underwater for 5 minutes, that’s a real test. I noticed you didn’t answer any questions, what’s going on?
Haha Chris doesn’t do fish, Chris doesn’t even post or reply anymore bahah
Will you CUSTOM MAKE ME ONE FOR A NOMINAL FEE OF COURSE....
